The Great Pumpkin is Abroad!

Halloween+swap The first Trick or Treat package in the Halloween Swap has been received, and here it is. Isn't it great? Gayle at Sparklejars is the sender and Paulette at QuilterPolly is the recipient.

Congrats to Polly and thanks to Gayle for sending such a fun package. Just look at that triangle banner. The rosettes with covered buttons, the piece of crochet, the checkerboard background, the fancy embroidery, the little creepy crawlies--why Gayle even bound her edges instead of satin-stitching them like I do.

All swappers, be sure to let me know when you receive your package so that I can post a picture here of what you got.

Halloween+hanger+ Thanks to all of you who sent well wishes for me and Vann--either by comment or silently. Neither of us is feeling too pretty good this morning. Vann has a much anticipated trip to the Wyoming mountains with his friend Horace starting next Tuesday. We're so hoping he'll feel like getting on the plane by then. Me, I just have lots of projects that need attention; so I hope to get to feeling better to work on them.

Weekend Report

Triangle 3 Neither Vann nor I feels very good this weekend, so we've stayed inside most of the time. Vann has walking pneumonia, which I think is a very strange name for a malady. And I have walking fibromyalgia, I guess. I did get a few things done while holed up.

Here's triangle #3 for my Halloween triangle banner.

Some of you have expressed interest in how I made these. I looked around on the internet for a tutorial for triangle banners and can't find one. It's really pretty simple though.

Maybe I'll take photos and write a tutorial as I make the next triangle. As I said, it's really simple.

I made this banner for a cupcake-theme swap, and I was hooked. It's so much fun making them that I want to make one for every occasion. Christmas is next.

I also worked on the next two altered playing cards this weekend, numbers 35 and 36 (photo at bottom). Only a few more and I'll have a whole deck of altered playing cards that I've done this year.

Last night we watched the Bama/Georgia game. We are a house divided when Georgia plays the Crimson Tide. Vann, a Georgia grad, is an avid Bulldogs fan, and I of course am a Bama fan from way back. Since Georgia was ranked #2 and had a chance at number one if they won the game and a bunch of other teams lost, I felt like I could live with whatever the results of the game were. (But deep down, I really, I mean realllllly, wanted Bama to win.) They did. And today, Bama is ranked #2. I tried not to cheer too much though, knowing that Vann was grieving with his team--and also I love that Uga dog so much.

Altered Playing Cards

Oh my goodness! You guys need some chicken soup in a bad way don't you? I'm sorry that yall are sick.

It makes me wonder about my summer of the nasty cough though. I came down with a really harsh virus in mid-July and have only just been over my cough for about 10 days maybe. It was bad, I coughed so hard I thought it would cause a heart attack. Now I have irritated nasal passages and typical allergy stuff but no cough, thank God!

That triangle is my favorite so far, just cute! I did a teensy bit of Halloween crafting today but it involved glitter and cardboard, lol.

We have a divided house on occasion too. I'm a Sooner, didn't finish my degree(both my parents graduated from there though), and Mark's a Longhorn though he attended Stephen F. Austin and not UT. He's got all the kids rooting against me for some reason. That game is weekend after next. I must find a crimson something to show my support.*G*

I trust you and Vann are both taking your meds. I really sympathize with you both, specially Vann because I remember last fall when I had what the dr. called "asthmatic bronchitis"--you took me to the doctor, remember? He had given me a pneumonia shot couple of years ago, so he couldn't call it pneumonia. It was a miserable week or so. Hope you both feel better already.

I'm so sorry to hear you and Vann weren't feeling well and hope you are okay now! "Walking Pneumonia" has the sound of a 50s B Horror flick, like "The Crawling Eye," doesn't it? ("Walking Fibromyagia" is more like an American Internation film from the 70s.)
I love that triangle! You're so talented, the way you mix up fabrics.
My 'box' for the swap is coming along nicely, btw!

I just love your banners you make. I still havent tried to make one. But you give me inspiration. I can finally get some sleep, I have finished reading "the 13th tale." It was a really good book. Lots of twists and turns. I just couldnt put it down. Loved the suprising ending. Have you read any similar books like that? Hope you and hubby are feeling better.

On 10/01/2008, Buffy said ...

I hope everybody feels better now.

Did you know that walking pneumonia is called such because it is very similar to pneumonia, but you normally don't have a fever and the other symptoms aren't as severe so you're not bedridden? You're able to walk around, therefore it's called walking pneumonia. Also because of it's less-severe symptoms it can be pretty dangerous because people think they're not very sick and let it go for longer without seeing a doctor.

Did I make all this up in my head? I think that is the actual reason for calling it "walking pneumonia".

Spooky Triangles

Halloween Triangles These aren't for the swap, ladies; they're for my mantel. I made the first two triangles today for my Halloween triangle banner. I showed them to Vann, and he said, "Ooooo, that snake one is scary."

I'm not sure yet how many triangles the banner will contain. I guess I'll stop when I get tired of making them.

They're fun to make. I'm planning to make one for Christmas too.

Wind Up Your Yo Yo...

YoYos ...when I say Pogo!

Ever wonder why the lyrics of most of the songs from the 50s and 60s don't make a lot of sense? Well I do. This song ("Annie Get Your Yo Yo" by Little Junior Parker) has been running through my head ever since I started making these yo yos. I never did know what the heck he was singing about, and I still don't. I mean, just listen:

"Annie get your yo yo,
Wind it up tight.
We're gonna pogo."

What does that mean? How do you pogo? I don't remember any dance called the pogo. Maybe he means they're going to jump on a pogo stick. But then why does Annie need her yo yo? You can't yo yo and pogo at the same time.

I suppose, considering the state of the economy, the war-ravaged planet, global warming, Sarah Palin's hairstyle, and other weighty matters, this is not really a pressing issue. But I just wonder.

Anyway, I made the yo yos in the photo (not while pogoing), using the Clover Extra Large Yo Yo Maker. If y'all haven't discovered these tools yet, you're missing out. They make yo-yo making quick, easy, and fun. It's lots more fun than yo-yoing while pogoing! and a lot less dangerous.

(Editor's Note: Oh my! I just proofread this post, and it just struck me what Little Junior is probably talking about. Never mind.)

Show & Tell

Halloween ATCsThe first photo shows Halloween ATCs that I received from SwapBot partners. Aren't they fun?

The second photo shows more SwapBot ATCs, this time from a partner in the Things With Wings Swap.

The last photo shows some holiday fabric that I ordered from The Fat Quarter Shop. I know, but I ordered this fabric before I took the pledge, so it doesn't count. I have something special planned for it, but it's something I can't talk about right now.

Autumn continues its progression into north central Alabama. The low tonight is forecast at 54, with low 80s for highs all week. Thank you, God, for Autumn.

Happy Autumn!

2845535173_b5421b4bed Happy First Day of Autumn, everyone!

The weather here is very early-autumny: warm, non-humid days, cool nights. The days are getting shorter, and the light is changing to that beautiful soft fall light. If you look really closely, you can see some color starting to come into the trees. The yellow butterflies are decorating the yards, woods, and roadsides; and (alas!) the ragweed is out. Aaaaachooooo!

I've redecorated Blackberry Creek for fall. This is my very favorite season. Even Sophie has donned her Halloween costume to give the blog an autumnal touch. I think I want to go out and dance under the moonlight or something. Build a bonfire or go on a hayride.

Hope all the Halloween Swap members are busy working on your handmades. A couple of you tell me that you've already completed your projects. I've got my materials and tools laid out on my sewing table, but haven't made my project yet. Today, I'm busy doing laundry and getting caught up on everything that I've let slip while I was away for the weekend. So bye for now.

BTW, I also consider Jack Nicholson's performance in "The Shining" to be over the top. I like the way it was done much better in the new version. Good Morning, All You Halloweenies Out There!

Halloween Fabric

Here's a look at some of my Halloween fabric collection. I'm sure I'll use some of it to make my handmade item for the Trick or Treat Swap. (That's supposed to be a segue into my next subject.)

I'm finally finished e-mailing everyone's swap partner. If you haven't received yours, please let me know right away. Some of you have mailed me back and asked to have your partner's blog address so you can get to know a little about her. Not everybody in the swap has a blog, or at least not everybody has given me a blog address. But those I have can be found at the end of yesterday's post. Just click on the link, if your partner has one. If any of the rest of you have blogs, please let me know your address. And remember, don't let your send-to partner know that she's your send-to partner until you mail her package.

We all got a good night's sleep at The Yellow House last night. No deer; at least if there were deer, Sophie slept through them. So we're all wide-eyed and bobtailed around here. Sophie has already been in trouble a couple of times this morning: once for running into the street to greet Walter the Big Black Dog and once for barfing on the carpet.

A couple of blogs to tell you about: Two of my friends (wonderfully artistic quilters, both of them) have begun blogs. Julia Wood at Green Quilts is also author of Fabric Photo Play . And Lisa Allen at Pipkin House is a two-term past president of Birmingham Quilters Guild, of which Julia and I are also members. Both of these quilter artists are brand new to blogging, but you might want to start following their blogs now so you don't miss anything.

In the Wee Wee Hours...

NAN6388 ...it's not always about wee-weeing. Sophie kept us awake half the night. She started at about 3:00 a.m., pacing the floor, clicking her little toenails on the hardwood, scratching on the side of the bed for us to get up. Vann got up the first couple of times and let her out in the fenced backyard, thinking she was answering Nature's call.

Finally, at about 5:00, Vann had had enough. So I got up and kept Sophie company while she paced the floor and looked out the windows and scratched on the doors and generally was a pest.

When daylight finally came, we went out in the front yard. There, on the dew-covered lawn, were deer tracks. It seems we have a deer hound on our hands. After she got a good sniff and was sure the deer were not still in her yard, she came back in and went to bed. I'd like to do the same, but I have too much on my to-do list.

Below are some ATCs (artist trading cards) that I recently received from some wonderful artists. The top two are from a SwapBot swap, and the three on the bottom are from Joan C. from England. I love making and trading ATCs.

Just found your blog, never done an altered playing card, sounds interesting. Love the Pumpkin gone wild fabrics.Beautiful. Can't wait to see what you make with them. I too am stashbusting.... have done very well for about 3 weeks and counting.

Uh-oh, yes we know about dogs and things that go bump in the night. Cats and skunks can get through to the golf course and beyond to the wilds just outside our bedroom window and Riley goes nuts. I really need to put a fence up there but the cats would just go over it anyway. We don't let him out lest it's a coyote.

Halloween Swap Closed

The Halloween Trick-or-Treat Swap is now officially closed.

We had 24 people to sign up. I'm still waiting for the mailing address from one person, then I will assign partners.

I'll e-mail you your swap partner as soon as I complete my list.

If you signed up for this swap in haste and are now having second thoughts, this is the time to speak up. If you're as excited about it as I am, though, carry on.

Remember, you will make one handmade item for your partner. Doesn't have to be sewing/fabric; it can be anything handmade. To that, you'll add at least three other items which can be purchased or handmade. All must follow the Halloween theme. Your mail deadline will be October 15.

Finally, I'll leave you with this astonishing obituary. Let us all be grateful that we have friends and family who love us. (Click on the newspaper clipping to read.)

Oh, I can't wait to see what you all make and share for Halloween. I will have to watch for the next swap.....how fun!

On 09/15/2008, Teresa said ...

Oh my goodness - I have never read anything like that in my life. I guess the daughter just had to get it off her chest.

Good Luck in your swap - hope all have fun fun fun!

Wow! That was powerful. Sadly, as a volunteer hospital chaplain, I have encountered this kind of anger and grief. It was probably very healing for her family to publish this. I hope publishing this obituary eventually helps them find their way to Love.
Thank you for sharing this.

They're Coming to Take Me Away--Ha Ha!

Layer Cake So many quilters and bloggers are taking the pledge these days to use up their stash supplies and stop buying stuff. So I did the same thing--for the umpteenth time. Goodness knows, my quilting, sewing, and crafting supplies could fill a small warehouse. So last week I swore off fabric/crafting purchases until I whittle down some of the things I have.

Well it didn't take me long to fall off that slow-moving wagon. At Monday's guild meeting, our fabric-pack lady was offering this  for sale: a packette of 40 10" squares of Sandy Gervais's "Pumpkins Gone Wild." Do you think I could resist these luscious fabrics? No way!
Bundle
But now, I really really really pledge to buy no more until I've used some of what I've got. Honest. I mean it. I do. For real. This is it. No more. I can quit. Anytime I want to. I don't need to buy fabric. It's just that my life is so stressful. Fabric helps me relax. But I'm not addicted. Nope. Not me. I'm just a social fabric buyer.

Ho Ho! Hee Hee! Ha Haaaaa!

Just a minute, fellows. Hold on just a minute. I'll go peacefully, right after I tell my readers this: I'm still taking sign-ups for the Haloween swap through the weekend. To read all about it, go HERE.

Oh boy - can we all relate to this! I've promised myself the same thing this month for the umteenth time - and what have I been doing? Perusing the Baum, Marcus Brothers, Moda, and Andover sites for the latest and newest in reproduction fabrics. It's a sickness - it really and truly is. I just wish all the fabric companies would take Moda's example and provide us with ways to own a little piece of each fabric. That's all we scrap quilters need.

Hello. My name is Patti and I am a fabriholic.

On 09/12/2008, Lisa D. said ...

I can't take that pledge because it would just be setting myself up to fail. I work at a quilt store, for heaven's sake. Not buying fabric is clearly impossible for me.

On 09/12/2008, Wendy said ...

I promised I wouldn't buy anything too and today I bought a guillotine. I really really Need one of those :)

Some people drink, they clutter the gutter and we don't do that. And new fabric smells so nice......

Okay, Susan, I'll let you off the hook for this purchase. The fabric is truly adorable. And yes, I was very tempted at the Guild meeting, too. But I resisted! Aren't you proud of me? I made it two weeks into my own personal no buying policy. So far, so good!

Makes One Wonder About Alice's Rabbit Hole

A Teapot My sister and I decided to visit our favorite thrift store Sunday afternoon, and look what I got: this wonderful teapot. I have oodles of tea pots. I just love them.

What about that Big Bang Machine that they turned on in Switzerland today? That kind of stuff just fascinates the dickens out of me. I don't understand it, of course, but I'm still fascinated. Here's how I understand what happened: The scientists shot something they couldn't see in one direction through the collider and something else they couldn't see in the other direction (little tiny particals of something). These tiny little things they couldn't see were supposedly traveling at nearly the speed of light when they met somewhere under Geneva and crashed into each other, setting off a mini-Big Bang. I think that's great.

A lot of people are worried about all this. They fear that the scientists will eventually create a tiny little black hole with all the slamming of particles together and that this teeny black hole will suck the earth and everything on it into oblivion. I don't worry much about the black hole theory. But I do wonder why they want to set off a Big Bang. Isn't that what created our universe (with a little help from God)? What do they think they're going to do with another universe? We can't even take care of this one properly.

Well, anyway, I didn't create any universes or black holes this week, but I have made a bunch of ATCs (artist trading cards). Here's a look.

A ATC JAck & Bat
A Children ATC

A BLACK CAT ATC

A ATC WOE

That's not all. I'll show you more tomorrow.

Go HERE to read about Blackberry Creek's fun Halloween swap, if you don't already know about it. Everyone is welcome to join, whether or not you're a blogger. But read the description first, then e-mail me if you're interested. Have a great Wednesday afernoon.

Halloween TRADING CARDS? My head is spinning!

On 09/11/2008, Ramey Channell said ...

This first test didn't actually collide the particles. The particles were fired through the tubes in only one direction. The collision, whatever the results may be, will come later. Here's a snippet of the report.
Ramey

Eventually two beams will be fired at the same time in opposite directions with the aim of recreating conditions a split second after the big bang, which scientists theorize was the massive explosion that created the universe.

"My first thought was relief," said Evans, who has been working on the project since its inception in 1984. "This is a machine of enormous complexity. Things can go wrong at any time. But this morning has been a great start."
He didn't want to set a date, but said that he expected scientists would be able to conduct collisions for their experiments "within a few months."

Scientists hope to eventually send two beams of protons through two tubes about the width of fire hoses, speeding through a vacuum that is colder and emptier than outer space. The paths of these beams will cross, and a few protons will collide. The collider's two largest detectors — essentially huge digital cameras weighing thousands of tons — are capable of taking millions of snapshots a second.

The CERN experiments could reveal more about "dark matter," antimatter and possibly hidden dimensions of space and time. It could also find evidence of the hypothetical particle — the Higgs boson — which is sometimes called the "God particle" because it is believed to give mass to all other particles, and thus to matter that makes up the universe.

The supercooled magnets that guide the proton beam heated slightly in the morning's first test, leading to a pause to recool them before trying the opposite direction.

The start of the collider came over the objections of some who feared the collision of protons could eventually imperil the Earth by creating micro-black holes, subatomic versions of collapsed stars whose gravity is so strong they can suck in planets and other stars.

Bye Bye, Cousin Cliff

Cusin+Cliff If I have $100 in my left pants pocket and $50 in my right pants pocket, what do I have? If you answered "somebody else's pants," then maybe you knew Cousin Cliff Holman. That was one of his trademark jokes.

Cousin Cliff is one of my happiest childhood memories. All through the 50s and 60s, this funny, friendly man starred on "Tip Top Clubhouse" (later "Cousin Cliff's Clubhouse" on local Birmingham, Alabama television from 5:15 till 5:30 p.m., on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Kids from all over the area visited Cousin Cliff to celebrate their birthdays. Cliff entertained them with his puppets Corky and Kim and with magic tricks. I went to a party there once, but I can't remember which one of my friends was having a birthday.

Cuz03 Earlier this week, Cousin Cliff passed away at the age of 79.

This last time I saw Cliff was at a children's Christmas party at Southern Progress Corporation where I worked in Birmingham. That was at least 10 years ago, maybe more. He had gained weight and lost hair, but he was still Cousin Cliff--big smile, corny jokes, and all.

We'll miss you Cousin Cliff. I know you're keeping all the kids in Heaven giggling right now. I hope you'll save a seat for me in your peanut gallery, along with a nice PB&J sandwich on some of that delicious Tip Top bread.

I am not familiar with Cousin Cliff, but isn't it wonderful how many children's lives he must have touched in his time.

I love the pictures of the show and tell, especially the apple core (I think that is the name of that pattern) quilt - the black and white with touches of red. I have always admired this block but felt it would be a difficult one.

Such a lovely post. I am not familiar with Cousin Cliff but I remember the day Mr. Rogers passed away. I was at one of my oldest daughter's school functions. I remember many children in tears (as was I) because they cared so much for him.

This is a nice tribute. I don't know Cousin Cliff but he makes me think of Captain Kangaroo.

I don't know about cousin Cliff either, but your post reminded me of when I was a little kid how I loved to watch Soupy Sales. My dad would come home for lunch with us while the show was on. I remember Dad cracking up laughing at some joke that Soupy made that I didn't get at all. It happened all the time, Dad cracking up, and me being mystified. Turns out, Soupy was known as a master of the double entendre! Who knew?

Thanks for telling us about Cousin Cliff . Programmes we watched as a child do stay with us.

Thank you for sharing Cousin Cliff. In the Minneapolis, Minnesota area we had Casey Jones and Roundhouse Rodney for our childhoods! They have all passed away, too.

What a nice memory. My show in St. Louis, Mo. was Texas Bruce, along with Howdy Doody and Captain Kangaroo. Our geneation really had it the best with all the great TV back then. It's a shame that those shows with good simple fun had to go away. Oh no, I've got to get off of my soapbox. I have lots of opinions about todays TV, some good--a lot of bad. Classic TV is for me.

New Guild Year Begins

Guild blackwhitered Yesterday was the first meeting of the new guild year for Birmingham Quilters Guild. It was a very good (and crowded) meeting. We're about to outgrow our meeting space, which is a good thing because it means more members--and more members mean more fun.

We had some great show-and-tell, but conditions in the room are so crowded that it's really difficult to get good photos. I'll show what I got though because there were some really wonderful quilts on the clotheslines.

Guild Tesselate

Guild blue bird

Guild Flavin

Flavin Glover of Auburn, Alabama was our guest speaker. She was another impediment to good photography. I have about a dozen shots of her, but in every one she's doing something weird with her mouth--except this one, in which she appears to be saluting Becky.

Flavin talked about her personal quilting heritage. She told wonderful stories of the lives of her mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, all of whom were quilters. Her wonderful slide show consisted of photos of them as well as their quilts. In addition, she brought along many of the actual quilts for us to see. She encouraged us all to record our own personal quilting heritage, if we have one. I do.

Sign-up for the Trick or Treat Halloween Swap is going great. So far, ten people have joined the swap. But it's not too late to add more. You have until September 15 to get your name on the list. Just click on the link in this paragraph and read what it's all about and how to join. Oh, and feel free to post the swap banner (top left on this page) on your blog if you like (and if you know how! It took me forever and ever to get it posted in my sidebar, and I couldn't tell you how I finally did it if my life depended on it.).

Halloween Swap Closed!

Who NO MORE SIGN UPS PLEASE

Here's how it would work: sign up by sending me an e-mail at suscleve@aol.com. Do this by September 15. On Sept. 16, I will assign partners. Then you will have until October 15 to send your partner her goodies.

Here's what you will send:
1. At least one handmade item. It could be an apron, a tote, jewelry, a hat, a decorative item, table runner, placemats, a pillow or pillowcase, or any nice handmade item. But IT MUST BE HALLOWEEN themed. And it doesn't necessarily have to be made by you. It can be a handmade item that you've purchased. (And I don't mean handmade in Taiwan and purchased Wal-Mart.) Try an online site like Etsy or Ebay for nice handmades. Or maybe you have a friend who sells handmade gifts.

2. Add to that at least three more small Halloween items. These can be purchased or handmade and they need not be expensive. hey can even come from the dollar store.  Just don't send anything you wouldn't like to receive yourself.

Remember, your items will need to be in the mail no later than October 15.

You don't have to have a blog to join this swap. But you do need to have an e-mail address and be willing to give your full name, mailing address,  and e-mail address to me by private e-mail. Your name and mailing address will then be supplied to your swap partner by private e-mail.

If you know of anyone who might like to take part in this swap, pass the word along please.

Polka Dots and Rick Rack

Pupepolkadots-1 Not only does Sharon at Red Geranium Cottage hostess the best quilting/pajama parties if you don't believe it, just go on over to her blog [click on link] and read all about it), but she also hostesses the best swaps ever too. A while back I took part in her Cupcake swap, and you already know how that turned out. Wonderful!

Well now, Lady Sharon has announced her newest swap:  Polka Dots and Rick Rack. It sounds like another great one, so if you're at all into swaps (or think you'd like to be) go on over there and check out what she's got going.

I've been busy today making fabric ATCs for another swap. I'll show them later.

Vann is going to be gone tomorrow to a motorcycle safety workshop in Montevallo. And I'm planning to spend the day in the sewing room (if Sophie will let me). I have so many projects that need work.

Happy weekend to all. If you're in the path of one of those hurricanes, board up tight or get the heck out of town, whichever seems the more prudent.

Hugs and blessings.

New Yellow

Yellow House

I'm not a bit happy with this photo. I don't seem to be able to get a good one. The light has been ugly all week, I guess because of the cloudiness that Gustav has sent our way. Also I don't even have the front porch decorated, not even a wreath on the door. But I do have our sign that Penny made for us hanging by the front door. The siding guys showed Vann how to hang it so as to not hurt the new siding.

Anyway, this is it for now. When the light is better and the porch is gussied up, I'll take some more photos.

I love the new siding! It looks great. And I am puffed up proud as a peacock that you have your sign hung up on the new siding :-). Thanks for mentioning me. I am looking forward to seeing your house when you have your wreath up etc....
Hugs,
Penny

Catching Up on Altered Playing Cards

ATC Butterfly Some of you have asked when I'm going to go back to working on my altered playing cards. Well, I'm back. I was seven weeks behind my schedule, and I have completed 5 cards already this week. Maybe by the end of the week, I'll be caught up. Here are the five I did yesterday and today.

ATC J&J

ATC Angel

ATC Ace

ATC Bear

Thank you all so much for reading my blog. When I started this site almost two years ago, I never dreamed I'd have hundreds of people dropping in to visit each day. Blogging has been one of the most fun and rewarding things I've ever done. And meeting so many kind-hearted, creative, and special people like all of you is the best part of it.

Susan, I made your Peach Cobbler for my bbq on Sunday and it was a huge hit. It is going in my "must make again and again" file. It was everything you said it would be--easy and tasty. The whole house smelled "bakey" as my son said.

I love your altered cards and inchies. It's so amazing to me that you can get so much detail into such a small piece. They are truly fabulous.
About that diet you posted the other day...I started on it this morning and already gained a pound. Is it supposed to work that way??? *grin*
Take care.
Aloha!

Bee Meeting Today

IMG_2036 The monthly meeting of Piecemakers Quilting Bee was today at Gerry's house. We had a lot of fun eating and stitching and showing-
and-telling and laughing and talking. Here are a few of the show-and-tells. All the pics were taken by Cyndi, some of them before Mary and I got there. We got lost (well, not really lost, we just couldn't find Gerry's apartment). So we had to call and get directions.

Hoping everyone had a great Labor Day; and if you're in the path of a storm, may God keep you safe and dry.

Just lovely! I especially love the kitties and the leaves!

Did you guys get any rain from the storm?? We are due to get a bucketload or two(up to 20 inches over Tues and Wed). The winds are picking up and clouds are rolling by very fast. Some of Mark's kin came up from south Texas to stay with his parents. We are hoping they've moved to a shelter, his mom doesn't need that. Anyway...

I'm off to find something to occupy me, the football game is NOT doing it for me.LOL I may dig out my ripple afghan. Or bake some brownies...

I have seen that cat quilt somewhere before, must have been on somebody's blog - its so cute, one of my favorites. The catapillar and butterfly is just adorable and I know my granddaughter would love it. The leaf one would look excellent hanging on my office wall. Would you like me to send you my address so you can get them all in the mail to me?
