Happy Haunting

02haunted-house
I love haunted houses.

Happy Halloween to you all. The TorTing has already started at The Yellow House. My nephew Reed and his Ma came by last night and got to make the initial dips into the treat bag.

I'm trying to decided whether or not to shut Sophie and Skipper in my bedroom tonight while the ghosties and goblins come for their treats. The two of them are such a nuisance when anyone comes to the door--especially Skipper. He'll run out when the door is open, so I have to hold him and give out treats at the same time. At least Sophie will stay inside or on the front porch. But some of the kids are afraid of any dogs, so I think I'll try shutting them in the bedroom. That's going to be interesting.

But today, I have three goals--and I already forgot what one of them is.

First goal is to get my office straightened up. Do or die, that's my main goal. Second goal is to mail my two swaps off. Third goal (now I remember) is to write and send my quilt guild BOM article for the newsletter.

Happy Haunting!

Yep, I'm with you on putting the dogs or at lease Skipper into lock down so you won't wear yourself out riding herd on him/them. Would they do better in the basement because there is less to tear up?

Hope you accomplish all you have planned.

Wishing you a Boo-tiful day!

Hugs!

Ooh! That is definitely a spooky haunted house. How did Sophie and Skipper do last night? We always have a decent number of trick-or-treaters, but we had even more last night. It was cold and rainy, but the rain finally stopped about 6:30, and they came out in droves.

Autumn Pink

2958309410_abd41eda1c

The dogs and I just got in from a walk this beautiful autumn morning. It's a little chilly and the leaves are really taking on color now. The only bad thing about autumn, it seems to be the shortest season of the year. I guess that just makes us appreciate it more.

I'm still pondering the disappearing produce from yesterday's Walmart trip. For various reasons, I've ruled out taking the wrong buggy and someone thinking my buggy had been abandoned and putting my things back. I was not away from it long enough for that to happen. I don't know. I guess it's just one of life's little mysteries that shall go unsolved.

Andy and I are going to have lunch at Max's Deli today and then go to Bed Bath & Beyond. I need new sheets for the queen-size bed (did I tell you I swapped out with Andy the king for the queen?). So far, the only ones I've been able to find anywhere are ugly. I've even thrift-store shopped for sheets without any luck.

Happy Saturday, everyone. Be sure to visit Beverly's Pink Saturday party and enjoy the pinkness.

Lovely photo! I cannot imagine what trees are so pink.

Wish I could go to Max's with you and Andy not only for the food but also to show my support.

Happy hunting at B,B,&B! I seem to get most of our sheets there, at Macy's, Target, Penney's, or on-line and always look for sales and high thread count. Yes, you told us you and Andy had swapped beds, queen for king.

We've had chilly rain since yesterday but today is even colder. The low tonight is expected to be 33*F and the higher elevations in Virginia are getting snow today. Snow in October is really odd for this state tho last year we had a big snow on Dec. 5th and that was most unusual, too.

Hugs!

Susan, The picture is just gorgeous. I know here in Utah, the trees that get the deep red leaves that turn to pink just before they fall are the Oaks and Oakbrush, and with the Aspens (we call them Quakies) a bright yellow and some others in the bright orange range and mixed in to all of them are the Evergreens. We missed our leaves at their peak of Autumn colors this year. We only have one weekend to catch them at their brightest and the Sunday we were going to do that, they announced in church that one of the ladies in our congregation was being baptized shortly after the service and we wanted to be there for that. So glad we did, it was wonderful.
We went up the next weekend to see the leaves and the mountains were beautiful but yellow and green were the outstanding colors as the red leaves had dropped. We still got some lovely pictures though. Hugs...

Those trees are about the most beautiful thing I could imagine! I would stand and STARE at them all day! Had to grin over the folks with snow because here in Houston, we are all thrilled with 45 degrees these last 2 mornings! It's wonderful & refreshing! Of course, it IS Houston, after all. Temps will rise through Wednesday (80) and SLIGHTLY lower again Thursday/Friday. Sigh. I'd be thrilled if it got above 60 only ONE DAY PER YEAR so that I could really appreciate WHY I love cold! YAY to you & Andy for going to Max's deli!!! I SOOOOO would support him! BBB? LOVE that place! Have to pass by Thursday after Barnes & Noble to buy a Silpat - only place around here that carries 'em! I WANTED to get a food mill, too, but those things are EXPENSIVE! Eeeks! Finally - I think the Halloween goblins stole the food from your cart! Yep! Boooooooooo!

UFO Progress Report: Week 43

Light House

I'm moving very slowly this morning. But here I am finally to post Mr. Linky as well as my progress. The "Blackberry Creek" quilting is going good. I have three blocks and some of the sashing hand quilted. My stitches aren't great. Stiff, achy hands aren't the best kind to use for hand quilting. But I'm enjoying the process.

The strangest thing happened yesterday, and I just have to tell someone about it. I went to Walmart to pick up a couple of things I needed right away. Of course, while I was there, I found lots of other things that I needed. Starting in the produce dept., I loaded into my buggy fresh veggies and fruit, then some frozen veggies, then some cheese, then some yogurt. I went next to the pet dept. to pick up Sophie and Skipper's chew sticks that they love. Then I went a couple of other places in the store and loaded a few other things I needed: a.c. filters, mailers, tissue paper, and a Kureg coffee maker (which I didn't need but I've always wanted one and since they had one on sale I got it). Then to checkout.

So I'm taking all my purchases out of the buggy and putting them on the conveyor when I realize that a lot of my stuff is gone. In fact, everything that I had loaded in the buggy before getting to the pet food dept. was gone. At first I thought I had mistakenly picked up the wrong buggy somewhere along the line. But I don't think that's possible; I believe that when I put the doggies chewies in the buggy I would have noticed that everything else was gone. There was nothing in the buggy at checkout that I hadn't chosen, not one thing. AND, get this, the plastic bag that I had put my apples in was in the bottom of the buggy, right where I put it--but the apples weren't there.

I just let it go and checked out and came home. But I still ponder this mystery of the purloined produce.

Cheers for your hand quilting progress on Blackberry Creek. It's looking good and I'm glad you're enjoying the process!

As for your missing groceries, that is really strange. Do you suppose your items were taken by someone who took them to save the steps it would have taken for them to get to those grocery aisles or by some diligent employee who thought your basket had been abandoned?? Of course, neither idea answers the puzzlement of that empty apply bag. How peculiar!

No UFO progress for me since I'm still working on this Christmas tree skirt.

Hugs!

The exact same thing happened to me while shopping at Costco! I was checking out a vendor with free samples of Greek food, so I parked my cart out of the way. When I came back to find my cart, it was no where to be seen. I thought maybe someone accidentally took it. So I walked around the area for a while to see if it had been abandoned, or to see if someone else was pushing it around. Nope.

I was disgruntled because I had some fresh produce in the basket; it had taken me a while to find peaches and bananas that were in good condition. I made my way back to the Greek vendor...and there was my basket... but it was nearly empty. It was sitting in the same spot as before, just with the good stuff taken out.

I felt some anger, but mostly I was so flabberghasted at the absolute rudeness and unkindness of some people. It would never occur to me to take the items of someone else's shopping basket, much less carry out the action!

I don't know...maybe it is a terrorist thing to undermine the sanity of the American shopper....
Then again....it could be aliens....

Got all the strips cut for the Christmas Block of the Month kits to be given out at guild meeting in November. You'll just have to guess what they'll be made into until guild members see the block pattern. I'm not telling till then.

What company makes the striped fabric?

You do know you're turning into a tease since you took over this block of the month guild project!! That's okay, I can wait ... yes, I can.

Back to sewing black to black which is not so much fun. I need to just do it and get it over with. Hope I like the finished product more than I like the pieces.

A Banner Day

Banners front
Front

Banners back
Back

These are banner pennants that I made yesterday for a Cloth Paper Studio swap. I send four and get four back. I'll be mailing these and the little sewing kit tomorrow. They are cut from fabric with peltex sandwiched between front and back layers and silk leaves machine quilted onto the fronts.

The group was inspired to hold this swap from a Halloween banner I made a couple of years ago (or maybe more) for another swap I was in. A photo of that banner appears below.

Today, my plan is to work on block kits for the next guild Block of the Month. Can't tell you what it is, of course, until guild members see. But I can show you last month's block. Click on the link below to see a cute pinwheel block that employs a fast and fun way to make the half-square triangles.

20 Pounds!

Several-pound-bills-new-british-20-pounds-money

It's how much weight I've lost since the end of August. The whole process seems awfully slow to me. But I didn't put the weight on overnight, so I guess I won't take it off that way either. Thank you, Lord, for 20 pounds lost.

Thumbnail.aspxI didn't get anything done that I had planned for yesterday. NOT ONE THING! I decided I'd take the dogs for a long walk (we both needed it) before I started sewing. After the walk, I decided that the roses and the new azaleas needed watering. So I pulled the hose out from the new hose reel thingy that I bought last week to keep the hose off the walkway that people have to traverse. Well!! Everything went downhill from there.

When I turned the water on, water started spraying out from all sides of the hose reel. So I turned the water off, and with much pulling and tugging got to the point where the old hose was connected to the new hose in the reel box. I got it all tightened up, which wasn't easy, and turned the water back on and watered the plants.

Winding the hose back on the reel takes a bit of energy, but that wasn't the real (reel) problem. Somehow the hose got tangled or twisted or something on the reel and stopped reeling. And hour later, after much pulling and tugging and cussing, etc., I was soaking wet, dirty, crying, and berating my late husband for not being here to help me. I left the whole thing in the driveway and came inside to dry up and compose myself.

I guess Skipper and Sophie discerned my distress. They barked and begged and wouldn't be satisfied with anything I gave them or did for them. Skipper went out in the back yard and found a spot where he was able to dig a big hole underneath the new walkway. So finally I told them I was done, and I lay down on the couch. Skipper jumped up and lay on top of me and Sophie stood in the floor and stared at me for an hour. Then she lay down on the floor beside the couch.

This morning, someone is cutting down a tree at the house behind the Yellow House, and the doggies have been barking since daybreak.

But I've lost 20 pounds. So I think I'll ignore all the mayhem and just grin and bear it.

OH, congratulations!! 20 pounds is great! I so need to find the motivation from somewhere and get started trying to take this weight off too. It is so hard and hard for me to start much less stay focused. I feel like I have so far to go!!

Twenty pounds!!! Wonderful! I started a new eating routine in the middle of July. I've lost about 18 pounds. So, you are ahead of me for sure! I'm doing the only thing that works for me: writing down to the very ounce what I will eat each day. Then weighing and measuring every bite. I eat whatever we have, but that is mostly fruit, vegges, and a small serving of meat. It was those wonderful home made desserts, and breads, and pastas that put this weight on me. So, I avoid all of that. I do have a 150 calorie serving of something sweet each day. Nutra System would be my diet of choice, like you, if I lived alone. But since I don't live alone, this little plan of mine is SLOWLY helping get some weight off.

A great big congratulations to you for doing such a super job of losing weight! Love the stories of your daily life with the doggies!!!! Sandy Gail

Oh, It's Monday!

Possum Quilt IdeaThis is the next quilt on my agenda, and the making of it might even cut into my UFO progress since I want to have it done by Christmas. And it won't be orange/white like this one. But I can't tell you any more because I want it to be a Christmas surprise for someone.

Now I know that every one in my family is going to think, "Oh Boy! She's making me a quilt for Christmas." But just calm down. You don't know who it's for, so just wait and see.

I have been wanting to make a quilt from this design for a while now; and since I need one easy and fast and gorgeous, I think this will do it. If you'd like to see the easy instructions for making this one, go HERE. And when you get there, you'll probably want to stay a while. It's the Cluck Cluck Sew blog, one of the most beautiful and fun sewing and quilting blogs I've found.

Andy and Jesse got all moved into their new house this weekend. Andy got the old apartment cleaned with just a teeny tiny bit of help from me. She kept saying things like, "That's heavy, Mama," and "I can do that, Mama." So I finally left it to her and went home. Which I'm glad I did. She was right. I've been paying for that teeny tiny bit of work ever since.

I haven't shown any photos yet because, well you know how it is when you first move. Boxes and stuff all over the place. Scatterment and mayhem. I don't think it would be fair to Andy to show her new abode just yet--although, I gotta say, it's already looking homey and cute, despite the clutter.

Gotta go now. With so much todo on my plate, I better get to doing some of it.

P.S. I saw Birdie from a distance on Saturday when I was at Andy's apartment. She looked well and happy--then ran off into the woods.

Riding in the Pink

365959987_q2KVQ2lZ_cThis beautiful autumn weather has me feeling better every day. I wish I had this pretty pink bike (photo found on Pinterest). I'd ride it up and down my street with Skipper and Sophie in the basket. Yeah, yeah. Pipe dreams. They'd jump out the chase the first cat they saw. But it's nice to ponder.

I had a very busy errand-running day yesterday, with stops at the copy shop, WalMart, and Home Goods. I had lunch at Max's Deli, a place I'd never been before. I read an article reporting that the owner of Max's has been receiving hate mail and boycott threats because he employs some Hispanic people--all of them legal, but this is Alabama you know. Famous for our bigotry. And we have this bright and shiny new anti-immigration law.

Anyway, I vowed to frequent Max's as often as possible. Yesterday I had a grilled chicken salad, which was beyond delicious. Now I can't wait for my next chance to eat there. Any of you who live near the Colonade in Bham, Alabama, I recommend you do the same.

Today is laundry day, so I best shake a tail feather. Happy weekend everyone.

Oh yeah, I'm linking to Beverly's Pink Saturday and taking a quick hop over to her blog to see what's pinking today.

Love the pink bicycle and I did a double take when reading about Sophie and Skipper riding in the basket! I could see them bailing out before I read your next phrase.

I hope Max's Deli is a roaring success. In the Bible Belt, it's amazing and awful how people could be such hateful bigots after so many grew up singing "Red and yellow, black and white, They are precious in His sight ..." and learning "God is love." in Sunday School. May the good hearted people of the Bham area flock to Max's! I'm too far away so don't look for me. Sigh! I'd love to have their grilled chicken salad.

Have already done one load of laundry, am starting the next load, and plan to sew before my eyes cross from sewing two black fabrics together.

Hugs!

Good on you Susan for eating at Max's Deli - I hope you don't suffer any repercussions from doing so. I find it very difficult (perhaps not after all) to believe that bigotry is still alive and well in this day and age. As far as the anti-immigration law is concerned don't Americans (and we Canadians) realize that we are all descended from immigrants?

I bought a new bike this year and now with the cooler temps, I believe I'll start riding it again.

If I had tons of $$ I'd BUY & MAIL you a pretty pink bike, my sweet lil' friend! But I suspect two lil' doggies - or at least ONE lil' SKIPPER - would leap right out of the basket. LOL! As for Max - blessings on him! My father (and you KNOW I use that term cringingly when I speak of him) was born in Pineapple, Alabama & raised in Andalusia, Alabama. It took me sooooo many years NOT to associate Alabama with MONSTERS. Then I met beautiful people from there both in person & online. You are AWESOME & I'm so pleased that you stand up for what is right. I LOVE YOU!!!!

I used could ride a bike, but not sure if I could now. It would be nice having a pink one like this. Trust all is well with you.

I love the pink bike with its sweet basket! I'm from Louisiana and have family roots in Alabama -- mainly Tuscaloosa but a bit in B'ham. If I were there I'd ride that pink bike to Max's every day!

UFO Progress Report: Week 42

I've hand quilted a little on "Blackberry Creek" but nothing more along the lines of UFO progress. I did, however, make this little sewing kit for a Cloth Paper Studio swap.

Below is Mr. Linky for the rest of you busters. Please enter your link whether or not you've made progress. We'd like to see what you have been up to.

Hi Susan ~ Very colorful project you posted. I posted a link...but not an updated progress photo, just a picture of my new barn quilt. My "next time" recording is wearing quite thin. :)

On 10/21/2011, Barbara Anne said ...

What a delightful and cheery colorful sewing kit you made. Someone participating in the swap will be over the moon happy to receive it. Well done!

I'm poking along on the Harlequin Christmas tree skirt and the project that will follow it should have been on my UFO list since I started it about 5 years ago (or more). I hope to complete it well before Christmas. It's an Australian pattern called "Light of the World" and I saw it advertised in a Australian quilting magazine about a decade ago.

How are things shaping up at Andy's new house?

Hope your weather is as pretty as ours is and that you're feeling good.

Hugs!

Autumn Addition

Cat Quilt

Couldn't leave the Halloween Cats quilt that my sister Joanne made and gave me out of my autumn decorations. Don't you love it? It's made from a Georgia Bonesteel pattern.

The quilt behind the kitties is my "Endless Autumn" quilt. I spent 11 years working on that quilt until it was finally finished. It's featured in Quilts for All Seasons from Oxmoor House. The book is out of print now, as is the Georgia Bonesteel book from which Joanne got the cat pattern.

Andy and Jesse, with the help of Jesse's friend Chris, got all moved in yesterday. We swapped out some of the furniture here for some of Andy's furniture. I finally got rid of the king-size bed that I never wanted (making up that bed is like making up the state of Kansas), swapped it to Andy for her queen, which is much easier to make and looks great in my bedroom.

I'm going over to The Little Yellow House this afternoon for a viewing. And, yes, I'm taking my camera.

Thanks for the comments on the photos yesterday. Debby asked if all those steps at The Yellow House were bad on the fibro. Oh yeah, Debby. When I bought this house, I had no fibro of physical infirmities. Funny how stairs and steps don't send up red flags when we're healthy and just looking for a house we like. And now? I think I'd rather deal with the stairs than even think about moving.

Remember all you UFO busters, tomorrow is progress report day. I hope someone has something to report: I don't.

The Halloween Cat quilt and the Endless Autumn quilts are both delightful and I'm so glad to showed them to us as Part Deux of your show and tell!

I have a couple of 8"x10" picture frames on walls here and each holds a seasonally rotating group of greeting card, many of which are 5"x7" and fit, with matting, into larger picture frames. It's a delight to glance about and see something seasonally appropriate on the wall along with the usual portraits, snapshots, and such.

Cheers that Andy is all moved into her wonderful new home and that some helpful furniture swapping came about in the process. Count me in with those who are looking forward to a peek into her happy home!

No UFO progress here ... sigh! I am making progress on the Christmas tree skirt and it's still October, so that's a plus!

Hugs!

What gloriously healthy and beautiful roses surround your sweet home and what happy Halloween decorations greet you within - and on the door! Lovely!

Have your happened by http://nancysdailydish.blogspot.com/ for an gander at some creepier Halloween decorations? I was astonished at these decorations as in the past, I'd known only one friend who so loved Halloween that her whole home was dressed up like this.

Seems to be the season for black, so am working on the Harlequin tree skirt.

Where Once There Was Mud...

Backyard2

My landscaping friend Steve and another young fellow spent the day in my back yard yesterday, and now it's a whole 'nuther place from the dirty, muddy mess that it once was. There's more sprucing to be done, and some more planting, but I am very very happy so far.

Backyard3

The dogs were a little confused at first--especially Skipper. He made an attempt to dig in the pea gravel on the walkway but didn't get very far. So he moved over onto the sparsely grassed area and started digging, and Andy spanked him a little. So he went off to the far side of the yard and dug, where I don't care if he digs to China.

Backyard1

Backyard5

My Andy is now a homeowner (also a mortgage owner). I went with her yesterday (for moral support) to close on her loan. Then she and Jesse and I went by the Little Yellow House. It was the first time Jesse had seen it. I think he liked what he saw. Although, as a rule, Jesse tries to stay quite negative on most subjects, he failed for find anything really wrong with the house--except that the refrigerator needs leveling. They will begin moving today.

New Beginnings for Andy & Jesse

What a wonderful walkway you now have and it's such an improvement over the previous distressing mess! I hope Skipper gets the message that he has permission to dig in the far back yard and not near the house.

Happy dancing for Andy and Jesse and wish them well with the hassles of moving. Will you take dinner to them or will they come to your house for dinner - or neither?! May Andy have many years of joy within those walls.

Hugs!

Cherry Lasagna

Cherry Lasagnan

Here's a photo of my "Cherry Lasagna" quilt top that I made at retreat a couple of weeks ago.

I used one Mary Englebreit jelly roll (30 strips). The prints feature lots of cherries, thus the title of the quilt, "Cherry Lasagna."

For instructions on doing the lasagna quilt technique, go here: http://blog.heirloomcreations.net/?p=1897

I joined my strips with straight seams instead of slanted because that's the look I wanted.

This is a fast and fun technique for making a great lap quilt and kid's quilt.

How cute is this quilt and its name?! Was it as quick and easy to make as the link makes in seem to be?

This morning I settled on a backing fabric for my Harlequin Christmas tree skirt and since it's a flip and sew pattern, all I could do is sew and cut strips for the harlequin background. The muslin foundation will be layered with batting and face down backing and then five diamond strip sets will sewn onto the foundation, quilting as I go! I need 6 diamonds and if I'd quit thinking about it and start cutting and sewing, it might go together before the end of October.

But first, lunch!

Hugs!

UFO Progress Report: Week 41

UFO1

I almost forgot it's UFO Progress Report Day. If Barbara hadn't reminded me, I don't know when I would have realized my mistake.

I've been working on hand quilting the Cottage Quilt, which I have renamed "Blackberry Creek."

Mary S. delivered my French General Snowblocks to me at guild Monday, the ones I left in the bin at retreat. I hope I can get them sewn together soon.

Down a Drunkard's Path

DP Quilt

I sewed borders on this beautiful quilt top for my sister Ramey yesterday. She and my other sister Joanne pieced it. Ramey has been displaying the top at her book signings. If you haven't read Ramey's book Sweet Music on Moonlight Ridge, you've missed a wonderful story. The Drunkard's Path quilt figures into the story, and that's why Ramey made it. Today we are planning to baste it so it can be hand quilted. My back is arguing with these plans, but I'm trying the ignore the hateful old thing.

I hope your back will play nicely as you get the quilt basted.

Glory be! The sun is shining for what seems to be the first time since Monday. Oh! What glorious autumn colors are glowing in the sunlight. I love autumn!

I'm about to press the muslin foundation fabric for my Harlequin Christmas Tree skirt. Next will be penciling the pattern lines with my heat transfer pencil and pressing the diamond shape on the muslin 6 times.

Bath Day for Doggies

Squares
My I Spy charm squares (40 of each print) are ready to mail,
and I'll be doing that today.

I dropped the two muttkins off at Dr. Rachel's at 7:30 this morning for baths. Skipper is not much trouble to bathe, but Sophie is recalcitrant and stubborn and tries to get as far away from the sprayer as she can get. Bathing her wears me out and kills my back, so I've been letting her go longer than I should without a bath. When I found out I could take her to Dr. Rachel's for just a bath, I snapped up the offer. I took Skipper along for one too, so Sophie would have company. She really hates going to the vet. I know it reminds her of the ordeal she went through when she was so sick some years ago.

Anyway, I'm waiting by the phone and watching the clock now, anxious to go back and get my doggies. I miss them.

Today, I'm putting borders on my sister Ramey's Drunkard's Path quilt. Started the process yesterday afternoon, but my back said, "No way! I might let you do this tomorrow, but not today."  Ramey works full time and says that she does not have time to sew the borders, so I'm doing it for her. The quilt is really pretty. I'll show you when I get the borders on.

What cute I Spy blocks!! I know they'll be well received by the quilters and by the many children who will enjoy these quilts.

Score on having Skipper and Sophie bathed at the vet's office. It saves you dealing with wet, soapy, squirming dogs and an entire bathroom clean-up afterwards. You're one smart woman!

I look forward to seeing Ramey's Drunkard's Path quilt when that border is on.

Rainy day here but have managed to draw the pattern for the flip and sew, quilt-as-you-go Harlequin Christmas Tree skirt I'm inventing. Please keep your fingers crossed this really works!

Hugs!

I have been pondering getting a dog. I don't know. I had one several years ago- a chinese pug- I loved her- she got out and got ran over. It just about killed me. So it is a lot to think about. I guess I am just scared -afraid of getting too attached.

How great to have someone else bathe your doggies! Our dog HATES water of any kind but after 11 years, is almost used to his infrequent baths.

I love the word recalcitrant, one of my favorites :)

Annie, I am like that about cats. I LOVE cats & it broke my heart each time one of mine died. I swore I'd NEVER get another cat after my last one passed away. Too painful! I'm not allowed to have pets here at this rental house, but what do I find myself doing? ACHING for a kitty-friend. The pain of loss is TERRIBLE, but the love and companionship, and even the MEMORIES, are better than not having a fur-friend. I hope you get a dog! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you do!

October Quilt Guild

Guild6
That's my "Autumn Winds" hanging in the middle of the clothesline.

It's much more difficult this year to get pictures at guild meetings. I'm stuck behind the back table for most of the meeting, accepting blocks and giving out next month's Block of the Month patterns. But during show-and-tell yesterday, I did manage to snap a few. Here they are.

Guild1
Ruth Ann's charming monster quilt

Guild2
Another local guild's opportunity quilt (I think)

Guild3
Made for her husband's office

Guild4

Guild5
I don't remember who made this, but I do remember it's title: "Leaf Me Bee."

  Guild7
A Quilt of Valor for the new Pell City veterans home (hanging behind my dear friend Josephine D.)

Guild8

Guild9
Gerda and Gloria show their work

Guild10
Craig (who has quilted almost all of our QOVs) and Peggy stand in front of one of the QOVs.

Guild11
Elayne, a member who attends guild meetings all the way from Crossville, Tennessee, is one of the most talented long-arm quilters in the world. (She quilted "Bunnies in the Cabin" for me.) Elayne brought "Twisters" to me yesterday; and the quilting is just as awesome as I expected it to be. I hope you can tell from the photo.

Our guild speaker was Karen Kay Buckley, but I wasn't able to get a photo of her. I'm sure many of you are familiar with her gorgeous quilts. I haven't been able to bring up her website, but if you're interested, you could Google Karen Kay Buckley and maybe her site will be working then. Sorry.

What a wonderful idea! Sandra's fabrics and quilts are wonderful and your pictured fabrics are, too!

I have more projects in process or in my imagination than I can say grace over, so won't play this time. Thank you for the heads up, though! I look forward to seeing what everyone creates with these charm squares.

In fact, last Christmas I cut 5" squares from each of my Christmas fabrics with the intention of making a charm quilt for each son and that hasn't happened yet.

Hope you're having a lovely Sunday!

Hugs!

Red Rooster Vignettes

I thought I'd give everyone a look at some of the great fall decorations we enjoyed at Red Rooster Retreat this week. Jennifer and her crew go all out with seasonal decor--and there are roosters and quilts everywhere all year long.

And that's only a smidgen. There are many more quilts, many more roosters, many more antique sewing machines. Your eyes never tire of looking at all of Jennifer's treasures.

OH, my goodness!! What delightful and dazzling eye candy is in every photo! Red Rooster certainly gives guests a feast for their eyes as well as for their tummies. What fun!

Thanks for sharing the photos!

Hugs!

Love that Holly Hobbie machine! We have a few items of Holly Hobbie including little mini dolls, but not a sewing machine. So cute.

It looks SO cozy & inviting! I just want to look at EVERYTHING! Holly Hobbie was very popular in my day & I love that HH machine! I may even attempt to SEW on one of those! Oh, okay. No, I wouldn't. LOL! But it's fun LOOKING at it! Thank you for the cool tour!
