Cherry Lasagna

Cherry Lasagnan

Here's a photo of my "Cherry Lasagna" quilt top that I made at retreat a couple of weeks ago.

I used one Mary Englebreit jelly roll (30 strips). The prints feature lots of cherries, thus the title of the quilt, "Cherry Lasagna."

For instructions on doing the lasagna quilt technique, go here: http://blog.heirloomcreations.net/?p=1897

I joined my strips with straight seams instead of slanted because that's the look I wanted.

This is a fast and fun technique for making a great lap quilt and kid's quilt.

How cute is this quilt and its name?! Was it as quick and easy to make as the link makes in seem to be?

This morning I settled on a backing fabric for my Harlequin Christmas tree skirt and since it's a flip and sew pattern, all I could do is sew and cut strips for the harlequin background. The muslin foundation will be layered with batting and face down backing and then five diamond strip sets will sewn onto the foundation, quilting as I go! I need 6 diamonds and if I'd quit thinking about it and start cutting and sewing, it might go together before the end of October.

But first, lunch!

Hugs!

Love that you joined the strips with straight seams. Definitely 'fits' the fabric you used! Am doing 2 of this type in the coming days. Doreen

Similiar to the ones I am doing but mine get quilted as they are sewn. I've always loved ME fabrics!

Looks great! I wondered what it would look like with straight joins instead of the traditional 45 degree joins. Isn't this a fun pattern?! What size did yours turn out to be with only 30 strips?
