Didn't It Rain?

Leave 'em there until my judgment

Three and three-quarters inches of rain and counting at The Yellow House. We have a break in the wet stuff right now, but more heavy rain is on the way--with snow possible tonight and tomorrow. Looks like March is coming in like a lion.

House guest coming tomorrow, so I have to do some cleaning today--rain, snow, or what have you. Happy weekend, everyone.

Hi Susan!

Happy weekend to you!

Your rain is coming our way and it's begun to sprinkle - and it's cold again. Phooey! I was ready for spring, but it is February. We have a chance of snow tomorrow, so the March lion may roar here, too.

I may pull out yet another UFO and put borders on today. It's a busy Evening Star on-point so will need simple borders. I can do simple!

Enjoy staying cozy!

We are having alot of rain here today too! And it is suppose to snow tomorrow. We really need the rain here. We are going on 3 years in a drought status here in NC. Have fun with your company!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Sophie at window It has been raining cats and squirrels all morning, which has kept Sophie all worked up and wanting to go out and chase them.

In the current issue of Love of Quilting, I found a suggestion for using a file organizer as a ruler organizer. I think the one they show is wire. I found this plastic one at the thrift store, and it works just fine.

Ruler holder

My sweet friend Tina crocheted this pretty bookmarker for me. It's a prayer bookmarker, and she said prayers for us while she worked on it. So I thought the Prayer Quilt was the logical place for it. Thanks, Tina.

And finally, to fill the hole on the right side of this page, here's a cute little yellow pitcher that I found at the thriift store.

A great idea for the file organizer. Sophie looks so cute standing at the window! Margot goes stir crazy this time of year with the cold and snow.

Poor Sophie. Aud's dog used to do the same things and the squirrels would tease her unmercifully, lol. I saw that tip about the rulers and I think it is a good one; like you, I believe I would like the plastic better.

Goodies Galore!

Orange bag Look what I found at the second-hand store yesterday (photo at right), with the original price tag still attached. It caught my eye because of the color scheme (orange, pink, and green), the same one I used in my weekend retreat quilt. Had to have it! Just had to.

I received my prize from Bonnie at Calamity Jane's Cottage (see photos below). In addition to that wonderful apron, she sent a cute dish towel that looks darling hanging over Gertrude's oven door. Also a fat quarter pack of amazing fabrics and a new copy of Romantic Homes magazine. Thank you so much, Bonnie. I just love everything.

The last photo is a cardinal ornament that I received from Blogless Barbara for my Cardinal Totem Tree. Thank you so much, Barbara. I love it.

I went to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show in Hampton, VA yesterday and there was an amazing amount of orange used in quilts there. Was I just tuned in to orange?

Hump Day Update

Blues from Maria This is what my friend and neighbor brought back to me from the Martha Pullen workshop she attended last week. Sort of comforting after all that orange and sherbet brights. I think I might use them to make my Siggy Blocks, which I'm about to get to work on.

Last night, after thinking about signing my name on 60 pieces of fabric (not a real happy thought), I decided to look into ordering a rubber stamp for the purpose. I did some research online and found this site where I could design my own stamp and order it. It wasn't cheap, but I can use if for other projects as well, like quilt labels and such.

Here's a likeness of it:
Stamp w:border And here's a link where you can order one for yourself if you like.

I have so much to show and tell that I just really don't know where to start. I know I should start with doing the laundry, but what kind of fun is that?

Let me get to the important thing here:
VANN'S UPDATE
Vann was sceduled to resume his chemotherapy treatments on Monday and Tuesday. When we went Monday, he's red cell count was indeed up--but his white cell count was down, not dangerously, but down.

NOW HERE'S THE AMAZINGLY, GOD-BLESSED, BEST PART: His tumor markers are down--way down. His CA-19-9 was down from an initial reading of 520 in November to 21 on Feb. 16. Anything 37 or lower is considered in the normal range.

We don't know exactly what that means, and I don't think the doctors are sure yet. They just tell us it's "Very, very good!" I think what it means is that, as Vann said early on, God has a plan. I paraphase The A Team's Hannibal Smith here: I just love it when God's plan comes together. Don't you.

Anyway, because the white cell count was down a bit and because the chemo is working so well, Vann was given another week off. No chemo at all this week, but he'll start back for sure on next Monday.

We thank you so much again for all your prayers. As you can see, you efforts are bringing results and we humbly ask that you continue. We ask God every day to bless you all.

I have a bunch more stuff to show, but I really do need to get the laundry started. And clean up my cutting table so I can get to work on my siggy blocks. I might be back later for another post to show some cool stuff I've received, found, bought, etc.

Oh my gosh, I was just looking at your home page (I've already posted on your giveaway blog) and noticed the picture of 'Sophie Belle'. It gave me a start because laying at my feet right now is a schnauzer/poodle mix that could be her twin. We BOUGHT her from a lady when she was 15 months old to get her out of an extremely abusive home. When we brought her home she weighed only 11 lbs and was very very sick, malnurished and dehydrated. After an immediate trip to the vet, and coaxing her into the house, she had never been off a chain and had no shelter, she started romping and running and loving us. A week later she had gained 5 pounds and was still way too thin but getting better. She is now 5 yrs old and we also call her 'velcro' because when we sit down she velcros herself to our sides or laps. She and her sister Friskie (a purbred schnauzer) own our home, our bed and our hearts. Sadie now weighs in at 22 lbs and is not fat but just right and has been such a blessing to us. I can't believe how much they look alike. I know your busy but I just had to tell you about it.

Susan: I think the problem with the block you don't like is that the prints of the orange and pink fabrics are too large in scale. I actually like the block, but not with your other ones. You're right, they're just not meant for the same quilt ;-)
Congrats on your win. That's so cool! I'd love to win the FQ bundle of flannels. I'll be interested to see your finished quilt top. I like the colors you've chosen, even though I don't tend to be a big fan of pink. It must be the lime and orange that play so well with it. Happy OP!

OP Day Three

This is it, the last day of Pat Sloan's OP (Orange Pile) Retreat. I'm determined to finish my baby quilt top today.

I have three or four more blocks (depending on whether or not I decide to keep the block I don't like). Then I'll have to join the blocks and add a border (I think it will need one).

So I 'spect I better get my second cup of coffee and get my good self into the sewing room.

Check out Pat's blog this morning. Some gorgeous blocks and quilt tops have already come out of this retreat. You'll want to see them if you haven't already. And check out Nicole's blog. She finished her top yesterday (full size, not a table runner, not a baby quilt). It's fantastic! And since Barbara doesn't have a blog, I'm taking the liberty of showing you her wonderful Halloween quilt. Don't you just love how she placed her orange squares. Hope you don't mind that I'm showing it, Barbara.

Barbara's quilt

I WON! I WON!
I just learned that I won Bonnie's OP Giveaway. I still can't believe it. I've been admiring that apron since she posted it on her blog, Calamity Jane's Cottage, a while back. Along with the apron, I won a matching towel and a set of fat quarters. Can you believe it????Thank you so much, Bonnie. Here's a photo of the apron and the fat quarters (I think) from Bonnie's blog.

I love Barbara's Halloween quilt! And I love your baby quilt! I think you're right, that one block wasn't playing nice with the other blocks. I hope you'll have a picture or two of both quilts when they're all finished.

I am quite green over your wonderful new apron ~ hope your "cowboy" likes it too. :)

But I am most green over your beautiful sewing room ~ shown in a previous post. If that's a mess, then I want to see it when it's all neat and tidy! It's a terrific space! One of these days, should I every manage to get everything neat, tidy and just how I want it to be, I intend to take dozens of pictures from every angle to record the "event" because it will never be that neat again. :)

Ah, I see you won that cute, cute apron plus other goodies. How sweet is that?!

I appreciate your posting my Halloween quilt here! I'm delighted with the way the scrambled block parts look and the little pumpkin eyes peeking out here and there. I especially love the borders and the outer border batik. The completed top can be seen on Pat's site and on her yahoo site. The pumpkin faces don't show up very well in those photos tho.

Thanks, Susan and Carrie!!

Did the Gypsies Leave Her on My Doorstep

Andy for bday 3EDIT: I JUST HAPPENED TO READ THROUGH THIS POST TODAY (3-09-09) AND IT DOESN'T MAKE A BIT OF SENSE. WHY WOULD GYPSIES LEAVING ANDY ON MY DOORSTEP CAUSE ME TO NOT HAVE ANY PICS OF HER AS A CHILD? DUMB!

I could have sworn that I gave birth to this pretty girl. Did I imagine the whole thing. Did I actually find her in a bundle on the front steps on February 21, 19__? Must have, cause I sure can't find any of the pictures of her as a baby or a child that I thought I had. I've been through albums and shoe boxes and closets and drawers. The only baby pictures I find of my (daughter?) Andy are a couple of double exposures and one very out-of-focus one.  I did find this one below on my computer. Wonder how it got there, cause I sure can't find the original.

Andy baby

So far as I can tell, one of two things has happened. The first is the gypsy thing. She does sort of look like a little gypsy in that baby picture. But I'm not buying that one. What I think really happened is that all of my baby/child pictures of my daughter Angela/Andy now reside at her house, somehow having snuck out of here under cloak of secrecy.

Anyway, sweet A, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your sticky-fingered self. May you have many, many more. And, BTW, take good care of those pictures.

Love
Mom

A Little Bit of Progress Report

OP8 Three more blocks and I'll have enough for a baby quilt. Or four more, if I decide to toss that block I don't like (bottom row, left). I worked on it a little, replacing one of the pieces, but it's still obviously not a sister of the other eight blocks.

Now I'm going to go blog hopping and see what everyone else is doing.

I was just going to email you to see how you were doing! I am at the point where I am starting to sew my rows together. Decided to do a diagonal set, but haven't figured out the border yet. The fabric group is so old I will never find the exact thing, so I may do a pieced border. Isn't this fun? The best part is that no one is bothering me, the phone hasn't run, and even the dogs are behaving.

Orange Pile: Day Two Dawns

A ATC SUn  I'm getting a late start this morning. I'll bet all the rest of you virtual retreaters have been sewing for hours. That's usually the way it is with the on-site retreats I attend. I stagger in at some hour that I think is early--coffee in hand, my hair a mess, my eyes half open--and there sits everyone, machines whirring. They smile and say something like, "Did you sleep good?" and I know what they actually mean is "Well, it's about time!"

Anyway, here I am now, but I have to have another cup of coffee before my sewing machine begins to whir.

The ATC (artist trading card) at left is an orange one I made for a swap. It's the only thing I could find orange this morning.

P.S. No, Andy, I didn't forget. Your post comes later.

Day One: Seven Blocks and Lots of Fun

OP7 What a fun first day of Pat Sloan's Virtual Quilting Retreat. I got seven blocks made, and now I have to shut down the Bernina for the night. My back isn't cooperating.

I've had a great time making blocks and seeing what everyone else is making. Can't wait till morning, after a good night's rest, to get started making more blocks and seeing what Pat has in the works for Saturday.

I agree! These blocks look like friends! I've had to un-sew and re-sew and stabbed a finger with a pin. Ah, the little hassles.

I'm have a re-think about what to sew to what ... and may not put the blocks together as they should be. Would that be tooooo wild for a genteel Southern woman to do? I have 4 blocks sewn just to the point of no return and am mulling that over.

Alas, the kitchen calls. Phooey!

Getting Started

OP3 Here's my OP breakfast: a hunny bun and a carton of OJ. I'm going to have to scare up something orange for lunch.

I'm already having fun. This is an excellent way to attend a quilt retreat. Vann was telling a friend's husband about the virtual quilting retreat this morning, and he got all excited. "Oh, I have to tell M. about this," he enthused. "That's whole lot better than her going off to Huntsville."

I'm not sure M. will agree. But I'm having a ball. Below are photos of construction of my first block.

Ready for Retreat

Studio Mess This is what my sewing room looked like this morning.

How can I participate in a weekend sew-along in this mess? I asked myself. Well, I can't, I answered. So I've been working in there all day. And now it's more habitable (see photos below).

So I'm ready. My fabrics are selected. My cutting table is clean. My ironing board is cleared off. And I'm raring to go.

OP in PJs? Why not?

Susan C Orange I've been sad all week because I'm not going to my quilting guild's annual retreat this weekend. In September, on sign-up day, I decided that I wouldn't plan to attend. It had to do with thinking i would probably be having a fibro-flare in Feburary--which I am, but that's beside the point. Now that the time is here (retreat starts tomorrow morning), I'm thinking I should have signed up. I haven't missed a guild retreat since the first one I attended in 1996, even though during the last three or four, I spent more time in the dorm in my bed than I spent in the sewing with my friends (because of the fibro stuff). But it's too late now. Spaces were all filled for the retreat months ago.

But God is good. I found another retreat that it's not too late to sign up for, and I can attend all weekend without ever leaving home--without ever getting out of my pajamas if I so choose. I found out about this retreat on Nichole's blog. Thanks, Nicole.

Pat Sloan is holding a virtual retreat starting Friday and running through Sunday night. There will be a project, a blog hop, prizes, and lots of fun. (I suppose we have to supply our own refreshments though.) There's some homework to be done in the form of gathering fabric and supplies, so if you're interested in attending Pat's Virtual OP Challenge Retreat, click on her name in this paragraph or on the yellow blog button at the top of my left sidebar for details. All the fabric shown in this post are the ones I've chosen for the retreat project. You'll understand my reasoning if you read the challenge details.

Is there a place to read the challenge rules before signing up? I have no blog or Facebook page (dud is me!) ,,, and I have almost no orange fabric at all. Seriously!

Since my dear AMIL is having a heart arrhythmia (irregular beat) my days are less predictable as she needs help with things just now. Perhaps all this means I should skip this stay-at-home project. Oh, and my personal projects are to finish my UFOs! Have finished one and have decided on borders for another, so that counts.

Cheers!

Some very lovely fabrics - Susan - A virtual retreat sounds like lots of fun but I can't take on a new project just now -school work needs to come first in the next couple of weeks.
I do have some rusts but not much orange in my collection tend to collect more jewel tones and primary colors or batiks - I love your pinks and greens and collect lots of those..
Hope that your Fibro settles down and allows you to sew and enjoy some fun quilty time.
Regards,

On Deck

Playing Card Altered Playing Card #37: Penteados

Perry at OKperi's Place and my sister Joanne at Sourwood Mountain have both recently reminded me that I never finished my altered play card deck last year. So this morning I decided to get back to them. Those of you who were following this project might remember that this was my Mama's solitaire deck. Mama passed away in 2005.

This is Altered Playing Card #35. I've entitled it "Penteados" from the phrase on the stamp, which I believe is Portuguese for typical hairdoes. But I could be wrong. Look for the remaining 15 altered cards coming soon.

VANN UPDATE
Vann was scheduled for chemotherapy on Monday and Tuesday of this week. On Monday when we saw Dr. L. and Dr. L. saw the results of Vann's bloodwork he gave Vann a chemo-pass this week. Because the red blood cells are still not where he wants them to be, he rescheduled chemo for next Monday and Tuesday. Vann is doing well, except for the anemia, which is making him feel tired and weak. Friends have told us this is par for the course with chemo, which doesn't discriminate between good cells and bad. Dr. L. is hoping that the shot that Vann had last week will remedy that by next week.

Happy today!

Love your altered cards, the creativity, and the connecting to your mother. I took a look at the ones you've already done and the variety is wonderful! What will you do with them when there are 52? Will they go on display in a glass front/glass back frame or stay in a stack? Just curious.

Hope Vann's anemia is fixed by the medicine he got last week. Do you feed him liver, turnip greens, and and the other blood building foods? I have lupus and fibro (I hear you, sister!), so know how unwelcome fatigue is. It's so annoying to be too tired to do what you want to do or feel you need to do.

Serious hugs and high hopes!

A Date With My Valentine

Img_457173 Clint Eastwood is amazing. When he was a young man, playing Rowdy Yates on the tv show "Rawhide," I thought he was sissy looking. But now that he's an old codger, stooped and gnarled and wrinkly, I think he's a pure wonderment. Sort of the same way I feel about Sean Connery. Some men just don't look good till they get ripe. Women, on the other hand...but I digress.

Last night, Vann and I went to see "Gran Torino," the first time we've been to a movie since last October. It was a good choice, "Gran Torino," one that we almost didn't make. First we were going to see "Frost/Nixon," then we decided we'd see "Taken" instead. Then Vann saw the ad for the Eastwood movie, and that was it.

Eastwood did an astounding job, playing an old racist retired auto worker and Korean War vet who has just lost his wife. He lives in a crumbling Michigan neighborhood that has over the years become filled with ethnic people. His next door neighbors are a large Hmong family.

I said that Eastwood's character is a racist, which is putting it mildly. Think Archie Bunker to the nth power. But somehow you know there's goodness in this old grunt's heart. And that's all I'm going to tell you. Go see the move, and take along a box of tissues for the ending. The cast of Hmong people do a great job too, especially the young people who play Sue and Tao (Toad).

Now I have to go have my second cup of coffee and get ready for church. Y'all have a wonderful Sunday

My husband and I always try to see the latest movies, and of all the ones we have seen in the past few months, Gran Torino was my favorite. I kept trying not to laugh at the inappropriate things he said, but it was impossible, he was so outrageous. Can you imagine how fun it must have been for Clint to play that part? You could tell he was so into it. I loved the scenes with his annoying family where he would just grit his teeth and growl. You know he lives in my neck of the woods? I see him out and about every now and then in Carmel. Another movie that was terrific was Revolutionary Road. Depressing theme but wonderful performances by DeCaprio and Winslet.

I Heart Blogging

I Heart Blogging There are so many reasons why blogging is one of my favorite activities. But rather than make a list, I'd like to concentrate on the biggest reason why I "heart" blogging--all the great friends I've met that I would never have known if I hadn't begun this web log.

Whoever says you can't really get to know another person over the internet never met my blogging buddies. Just sitting here thinking about all of you makes me smile. The support and love you've sent out through cyberspace to me and Vann gives us strength, hope, and courage. And as Vann's health continues to improve, you celebrate with us--it's just like one big internet party.

When I first planned to write this post, I thought I would mention all of you and include links to your blogs, but I realize that would be many, many links and too long a post. Just look to the right sidebar for my buddies' blog links. I'm adding to that list all the time, so check back often.

But I do want to mention one particular blogging buddy as an example of how loving and supporting our blog community is. A year or so ago, the area of Alabama where I live experienced a severe tornado outbreak. The Yellow House was spared as was my entire community. The next morning, I received a call from Molly, who lives in Texas, just checking to see that we were all right. I had never talked to Molly before, except by way of blogging. But she cared enough to check on us. That's how I've found all of you to be. And I thank you all from the very depths of my heart--and so do Vann and Sophie.

Now according to Typepad, I'm supposed to tag five of you to post on your blogs why you love blogging. If you do so, Typepad will post a link HERE. But I'm not going to tag just five of you; I'm going to tag all of you. If you want to play along, just write on your blog about why you like blogging. Go to the Typepad link to see some examples if you like and a copy of the "I Heart Blogging" image to include with your post.

I have no blog of my own but I agree about the wonderful world of internet communities and friends. I cannot think I'd have that much to say to fill a blog, but perhaps I would!

Love your many wonderful hearts!

Happy Valentine's Day to you, Vann, and Sophie!

I just wanted to stop in and check on you. I love to visit your blog. I don't always leave a comment but I do pray for you. I agree that there is something special about blogging. 1 of my grown children actually thinks I am silly because I have a blog but I love it and I love the friends that I have made too. Happy Valentines Day!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO YOU, VANN, AND SOPHIE! I agree wholeheartedly with you about how wonderful bloggers are & how so many of us become true friends! It's funny because about three hours ago, I was TALKING about you to my housemate - saying what a precious & genuine person you are! I truly WAS! I like the idea of writing about why we love to blog. That will be my next post! And thank you so much for the tutorial for the beautiful hanging hearts! You & Vann exchange hugs from me, okay? LOVE YOU!

Susan and Vann, The world is a better place with this little community of bloggers in it I quite agree and you are part of that special family and the world is a wonderful place with you in it. It is wonderful the caring and support we are all able to give each other when needed and in return the inspiration and strength to strive ahead in all the we do and have to deal with in everyday lives. Be happy, smile always, you are part of a wider family and we love you both and send much joy, laughter and smiles to cheer up the sad days and make the great days shine brighter.

Happy Valentines! I love your dried flower wreath. I agree with what you said about getting to know friends through blogging. It seems like a hard-to-understand concept but it does happen. Times have changed and the way we meet like-minded people has changed with them.

Crocheted Stuffed Hearts

Crocheted Heart 3 Crocheted Heart 2

Crocheted Heart Stitches Used:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
decrease: Join 2 sc stitches to make one
increase: stitch 2 sc into 1 sc space

Materials:

*any yarn, any weight (mine are made from worsted weight acrylic yarn)
*crochet hook recommended for yarn (I used size H)
*embroidery needle for weaving yarn tails

Finished Size:
depends on yarn and hook (mine are approximately 5" x 6" after stuffing.

Tips:
The heart begins at the bottom point. After working each row, count stitches to be sure you have the correct number.

Heart 1:
Work 3 chains plus 1 turning chain (4 chains). This is your foundation chain.

Work all stitches in both loops, front and back.

Row 1:
3 sc then make 1 turning chairn; turn work. (There is a single turning chain at the end of each row, and you always turn your work at the each of each row.)

Row 2: One increase in first sc, sc in second sc, and another increase in last sc. Total stitches in row is 5. Make 1 turning chain and turn work.

Row 3:
One increase in first sc, sc to last sc, increase in last sc. Total stitches in row is 7. Make 1 turning chair and turn work.

Row 4:
Repeat as Row 3, increasing in first and last sc. Total stitches in row is 9. Make turning chain and turn work.

Row 5: Repeat as Row 3, increasing in first and last sc. Total stitches in row is 11. Make turning chain and turn work.

Row 6:
sc in each stitch across (no increases). Total stitches in row 11. Make turning chain and turn work.

Row 7:
One increase in first sc, sc to last sc, increase in last sc. Total stitches in row is 13. Make turning chain; turn work.

Row 8: Repeat as Row 7, increasing in first and last stitch. Total stitches in row is 15. Make turning chain; turn work.

Row 9: Repeat as Row 7, increasing in first and last stitch. Total stitches in row is 17. Make turning chair; turn work.

Row 10: sc in each sc across (no increases). Total stitches 17. Make turning chain; turn work.

Row 11: Increase in first sc. sc in next 17 stitches. Increase in last sc. (This is your last increase.) Total stitches in row is 19. Make turning chain; turn work.

Rows 12, 13, and 14: sc in each sc across; no increases. 19 stitches in each row. Make turning chain at end of each row and turn work.

Row 15a (starting right lobe of heart): 9 sc, chain 1 and turn.

Row 16a: One decrease (sc first 2 stitches together. To see how to decrease in single crochet, go here.)  Sc in remaining stitches. Total of 8 stitches in row. Make turning chain and turn work.

Row 17a: Decrease in first 2 sc. Sc across to last 2 stitches. Decrease in last 2 sc. Total stitches in row 6. Make turning chain; turn work.

Row 18a: Work as Row 17. Total stitches in row 4. Make turning chain; turn work.

Row 19a: Make 2 decreases. Tie off yarn. Snip yarn and weave in tail on back side of heart. (Right lobe is finished.)

Row 15b (starting left lobe of heart):  Make a slip knot on hook. On right side of heart, sc in 9th stitch from left side. (There will be 1 unused sc in middle of row 15a.) See photo below.

Green heart left

Row 16b: Sc in first 7 sc, then do a decrease in last 2 stitches.Chain 1 and turn. Total stitches in row is 8.

Row 17b: Work 1 decrease in first 2 sc. Sc in next 4 sc. Work 1 decrease in last 2 sc. Total stitches in row is 6. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 18b: Work 1 decrease in first 1 sc. Sc in next 2 sc. Work 1 decrease in last 2 sc. Total stitches in row is 4. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 19b: Work 2 decreases. Total stitches in row is 2.

Finishing first heart: Starting where you finished last decrease, sc around outer edge of heart. (Work 2 sc in the psace at end of each row. Sometimes it's hard to find the right space; just do your best and try not to make more than 1 sc in any one space.)

When you reach the tip of the hear, do 3 sc in 1 stitch to make a point. (Stitch your 3 sc increase into the middle stitch of your original 3 sc in first row.)

When you reach the cleavage of the heart, do a decrease (combine 2 stitches into 1) to gather it in a bit.

When you reach the starting point, tie off and snip yarn, and weave tail in on back of heart.

Your first heart is complete.

Heart 2: Work same as Heart 1

Joining Hearts 1 & 2 and Stuffing: With back sides of hearts facing, please Hearts 1 and 2 together, matching raw edges. Use a pin to hold in place if needed.

Starting on one side of joined hearts, work 1 sc in each pair of sc around heart to join the two hearts. Five or six stitches before reaching the starting point, stop stitching and stuff heart with polyester fiberfil (or stuffing of your choice). When heart is stuffed, finish working sc to the starting point. Tie off yarn and snip. Weave yarn tail into edge of heart.

Finishing: See photos above to embellish your heart. Add ribbon hanger, yoyo, button, charms, bows, or whatever you choose. I used a hot glue gun to attach my embellishments.
