The Bedroom Challenge

Bed_2_2

Nicole at Sister's Choice Quilts challenged me to show Blogland the quilt on my bed, so here it is. I did spread up the bed a little, but I didn't spruce up the room very much. Our bedroom is usually a very casual place. We have our C-PAP machines on each bedside table, lots of books everywhere, and usually a few clothes and shoes strewn around. Only if we're having company do I try to make the room look Southern Living-ish.

The quilt is a Bear's Paw design that I started in a workshop with Liz Porter and Marianne Fons. Actually is was a cutting bee workshop. Marianne and Liz brought a ton of fabric from what was one of their new fabric lines at that time (some years ago, when I worked at Oxmoor House). We cut it all up into various width strips, divided up the strips, chose a block pattern that we liked, and made our quilts. The entire quilt, except for the backing and batting, is made from those strips.

You can also see my recent yard sale purchase--a wonderful pair  of shabby chic Ralph Lauren pillow cases that I picked up for the sum of $1.00 (50 cents each--can you believe she had her pillowcases priced by the case?). Anyway I love them.

And the quilt hanging behind the bed is a vintage piece that I believe I've shown before. It came from a shop in Atlanta called Granny Taught Us How.

I hate our lamps. Someday I'm going to replace them.

I love this quilt! And you have pillowcases to go with. I always intend to make some to go with my quilts, and never get around to it, lol. Your bedroom looks very comfortable, and I don't see a thing wrong with your lamps.

I just LOVE your scrappy bear paw quilt! And the one hanging on the wall behind is just stunning too.

Beautiful Susan, nice work! I love the colors in it as well as the pattern.

Does the noise from your cpaps bother you at all? My mom really needs one but is worried that the noise or the fit will keep her from sleeping. My hubby manages a medical equipment business that deals in all things oxygen related and more so I hear about this kind of thing all the time.

Your bedroom is such a cozy-looking place! Makes me sleepy just looking at it. LOL The bear paw quilt is beautiful - bear paw is one of my favorite blocks because it shows off the fabric so well. Love the pillowcases, especially the price! The quilt on the wall is such a lovely background. Sweet dreams!

That is quite an interesting story about that quilt -- a bit of a famous history. The quilt on the wall is very pretty also, I had not seen it before. Thanks for sharing :))

Your scrappy Bear Paw quilt is divine! I love it! The quilt on the wall behind the bad is awesome too. When Lisa and I took the Carrie Nelson classes in August, one of our projects, called Jellystone, will be a scrappy Bear Paw too. I need to get back to work on that one. Thanks for sharing Susan!
