It's Always Darkest Before the Yard Sale

Price_tgs_3 Every tabletop, chair, and bed is covered with stuff as we prepare for a neighborhood yard sale on Saturday. Even the hallways are so cluttered that it's hard to find a place to walk.

I had forgotten what a pain in the patootie it is to have a yard sale. Why didn't somebody remind me? I'm too far into it now to call it off. I'd never be able to put all this stuff back where I found it.

Whatever doesn't sell is going immediately to charity. I'm not about to haul all that junk back up stairs.

Oh my! Good luck!! Yard sales are horrid aren't they?? Sort of like dieting. it only lasts for a short amount of time and the end results are the best. Keep your yard sale goals in mind! Casg and freeing up space!

Oh Susan I hear ya! We've had a yard sale planned for the last 3 years!! It got worse when I let a friend of mine give me her leftovers from a move. Our garage was stuffed, Mark could barely walk out there, let alone park his car. Thank God my parents intervened, much to my dismay at the time. When they were here in May, my dad hauled SEVEN truckloads of perfectly good stuff(= pure junk) to Goodwill. It was SOOO nice to have our garage back.

This fall we started decluttering in earnest and had good intentions of holding a sale but I finally decided to put it out with a free sign on it(last Sunday in fact). A man coming home from church stopped and asked if it really was free. I helped him load two car loads of perfectly good stuff(= junk) to take to his church's tag sale, which also happens to be the church my son attends. It felt so good to have that stuff out of our hair!! I'm still pulling stuff out of closets, cabinets and bins for them. We have a desk and dresser that need to go as well. I don't think I'll EVER have a yard sale again!!

Hang in there!!!!

Molly

Poor you Susan! I hate garage sales. I have had a fair number of them over the years, and the easiest one by far was the recent Saturday when we opened the front door and realized the entire neighborhood was having "Garage Sale Saturday". I just put some stuff out in the driveway and sat in a chair playing with the new puppy and folks came by and bought everything. I didn't even have prices on anything!
