A Blast from the Past

Sunbonnet

I was going through a stack of stuff the other day and found this quilt top that I made just before or just after I retired. Sometime around then. I used a borrowed Bernina Artista and a borrowed embroidery card to stitch the sunbonnet blocks. Then I put the blocks together with little bits of dark blue and white prints. If my long-arm lady can get it quilted before the quilt show in June, I'm going to display it there. I also have, somewhere around here, another set of these blocks stitched in red on white. Wonder where they're hiding.

Here's a close-up.

What a sweet quilt! I had a grandmother who kept a blue and white guest room in her house. We called it the Goose Room for a blue stuffed gose she kept by the door, we kept a white iron baby crib in teh room during the 80's when my cousins and I were growing up. This quilt reminds me of that room, so english and clean!

That is just beautiful Susan! I really admire your skill with the machine embroidery. You should definitely enter this one in a quilt show! Everyone loves a blue and white quilt.

This is a beautiful quilt! I would love to make a sunbonnet sue like this one day but I don't have an embroidery machine so would have to do it by hand and I don't think I would be able to find the time just yet. I love your blog. It looks great and is packed full!
