A most inspirational and enjoyable church service this morning at Leeds Presbyterian. We gained one new member, installed three elders, listened to passages from my two favorite Bible books (James and Matthew) enjoyed inspirational choir offerings, celebrated Holy Communion, and then, the piece de resistance! A covered-dish lunch as only church folks can do it. I’ve never been to a church covered-dish that that wasn’t amazing.
Leeds Presbyterian is a very small church. I think that’s one reason I like it so much. We’re so small, in fact, that we can’t afford a full-time pastor. Instead we have a visiting preacher each Sunday. In the photo above, this Sunday’s preacher, Richard, speaks with our new member, Vern, before having lunch.
After communion, we sang one of my all-time favorite hymns, “Here I Am, Lord.” That one really touches my heart and makes me want to do better.
The activities sort of wore me out, so I’m going to spend the afternoon on the couch with Skipper reading. I hope you all have had as great a Sabbath as mine, no matter how you spent it.

It sounds like a perfect Sunday service with dinner to follow, dinner on the grounds and/or a pot luck dinner. All sound lovely.
I, too, love the song "Here Am I, Lord".
"Blessed be the ties that bind our hearts in Christian love .."
Grace and peace, my friend, and hugs!

Sounds as though you had a wonderful Sunday. We'll have a pot luck dinner next Sunday after the morning service. Love pot luck dinners! We, too, belong to a small church and sing the old hymns that I grew up with. We do have a full time pastor, and he brings such wonderful, practical messages. Always look forward to Sundays.

Sounds like a wonderful day!! We all like good food, so that is a plus too. I assume you left your Methodist Church? I am Methodist & we are in a big financial undertaking, 7.5 million! I don’t know exactly how this will be accomplished but.......maybe it will happen!! Cannot wait to see your finished dress quilt. Also you are making me a bit envious in the new vacuum!!
I love seeing your projects, now to get mine done!!
Quilt on!!
