Heart Warming
I have exactly half my heart blocks done. Ten more to go. I tested out a title that I'd thought of for this quilt, "Heart Attack," on some of my friends, and most of them thought it a little bit touchy. However, one friend suggested "Heart Warming," which I totally love. Quilts are made for warmth. So there. "Heart Warming" it is. Thanks Frances.
I bought the rose border fabric in the photo above at least two years ago, maybe four, at one of our quilt shows. I had no plan for it at the time, but just loved it so much, and it was on sale the last day of the show, so it came to live in my sewing room. When I started making these blocks, I suddenly thought of that border fabric and pulled it out. Now it will become part of "Heart Warming." The blocks will be sashed together with strips of the darker prints, with darker strips all around the outside of the blocks too. That will serve to contrast the light background of the border fabric I think.
I had a terrific Mother's Day, and I hope all of you did two. After church, sister Ramey and daughter Andy and I had lunch at a favorite Mexican eatery. Then I came home to find a surprise Mother's Day cake that Andy had left in the kitchen. Ramey and I got together again at 3:00 p.m. at my house to watch one of our favorite movies, "The Big Lebowski," with a generous serving and cake and ice cream for intermission.
