When people mount their tvs on the wall, I often wonder where they hide all the wires. You never see any. Look what a mess of wires were visible behind my entertainment area until I came up with this fix (photos below).
I made a pretty little curtain from some red-and-white striped fabric in my stash and use a spring rod to hang it under the back of the tv table, which is really an old sofa table that I bought many years ago. Abracadabra! Wires gone! Well, except for that one barely peaking out on the left. I guess I need to move my table over a little.
Next I want to make a similar skirt/curtain to hang in my fireplace opening (we never use the fireplace) to add a little color in the area (and maybe discourage Bella from going in there). I might leave the black screen in place too and just let the color show through it. Or I might remove the screen altogether. I've had it there ever since we moved into this house in 1996 (coming up on 20 years ago this May). Maybe I need a whole new change. We'll see how things go.
I plan to use one of the fabrics above (also from my stash) for the fireplace curtain--and the other one for valances for the living room window, or maybe sofa cushions. I'm not crazy about the cushions that came with my new sofa. They're huge and have fringe. I'm not fond of fringed cushions.

Applause for the brilliant idea of making a cute curtain to hide all of those annoying but necessary cords!
I love the fireplace screen, suggest using a solid fabric behind it, and keeping the screen to add the design. I'd use the toile fabric for a pillow front as it's just lovely.
Don't you love chilly weather or other reasons to stay home and cozy so you have time to think up these good ideas?
Hugs!
