Birthday Dog

Happy 14th birthday, Sophie Belle Patterpaw, born January 11, 2002, in Warwick, New York.

At ten weeks, she came to live with SuSu and PopPop in Alabama and has been here ever since.

In 2007, we thought we had lost her to a strange and deadly disease, hemalytic anemia. But thanks to the dedicated work of some wonderful vets, she survived and became known in some circles as The Miracle Dog.

She doesn't get around quite as well as she used to, and (thank goodness) it has been a while since she caught a squirrel in the backyard. But she's doing well. Her doctor says so.

Have a fine day, Miss Sophie. You are a much loved doggie.

I'll add my Happy Birthday wishes for sweet Miss Sophie! In dog years, she's getting up there, so a bit of a hitch in her get-a-long isn't surprising. She has certainly found a comfy place among the pretty pillows, as a birthday girl should, of course.
