A Bit of This and a Smidgen of That

I saw my doctor on Tuesday, and I am happy to report that the sciatic pain has lessened to a great degree. He gave me an anti-inflammatory, a strrrrrroooooong muscle relaxer, and a round of prednisone, which seems to be helping a lot. I still have some back pain, but not that screaming kind like I was having before. Dr. M. also prescribed an antibiotic for an ear infection, which I had a feeling I had.

So yesterday, as I was feeling better, I decided I would get some work done. I intended to make binding and bind the French Snowballs quilt.

I got the edges trimmed, but after spending over an hour going through my stash for a proper binding fabric, I was not able to find one. I considered piecing one, but that didn't work out either. So now I have to buy fabric for binding. I always love a good excuse to buy fabric.

Hanging sleeve

So then I turned to the snowman quilt (Slumber Party) which still needed a hanging sleeve. I quickly stitched up a sleeve for that.

But I wanted to accomplish more than just a hanging sleeve, so I turned to the doggie blocks. I got one almost finished before my real-life dogs decided I had been in the sewing room long enough and it was time to go downstairs and feed them.

So I abandoned the doggie block, grabbed up "Slumber Party" intending to stitch down the hanging sleeve after I had fed the pups, and shut down the sewing room.

However, after laying out dinnertime for Sophie and Skipper, I was tired (doesn't take much these days), so I settled down on the couch and read until time to make dinner for Jesse (penne pasta with chicken alfredo).

Today? I hope to get the sleeve sewn down and finish that doggie block. We'll have to see after that.

Thank you all for your well wishes. Keep your fingers crossed that the improvement continues.

Yes, indeed! I am cheering on your health improvements (better living thru chemistry, doncha know?!) and all you accomplished in your sewing room yesterday. It is no small thing to evaluate fabric after fabric in searching a stash for the right binding fabric. It takes a good eye and uses many spoons.

Cheers, too, for nearing the finish line on Slumber Party!

If I have any backbone I will sew binding on today - after a quick trip to the library to return some DVDs.

Hugs!

i had the same sciatic pain. have you had x-rays and MRI to find where the problem is in the discs? i spent 3 months flat on my back with knees up on the couch (i layed on the floor) to get my back back to it's natural position. also a chriopractor helped me a lot! my doc told me that sitting is the worst thing for my back; it puts the most pressure on the lower back. always flat on your back! i sure do hope you get better. that pain is the worst!
