On that day last week when the pain had mostly gone, I got the snowman quilt bound. Then the pain came back and I haven't done anything else. Just waiting for the next respite. Let it come soon.
We were supposed to have light snow last night, but it didn't occur. North Alabama got snow though. I hope we get a little before winter is over. I love snow.

Your Slumber Party quilt is absolutely charming! Even if your area doesn't get snow, these cozy snowfolks will be the perfect winter companions to round out your family - and they don't eat or need to go out-in etc!
We've had rain since yesterday afternoon and some sounded a bit like sleet but there's no wintery mix or mess - just wet. I love snow, too, and hope we have some before spring arrives.
Hoping you feel lots better soon.
Hugs!

Sue - Your Snowman Slumber Party quilt is adorable. I love all the cheerful colors you used & that it can be used all winter long, not just at Christmas. Another project finished. You must feel good about that.At some point, could you share some info. about the pattern. Was it a recent purchased and what company made the pattern. I would like to try & find a copy to make my own quilt. We have not really had any winter weather in the Pacific NW. I was amazed yesterday when I saw crocus' up out of the ground about to bloom. That usually doesn't happen until late March. Today it is 55 degrees & the trees already have buds on them. All this global warming is certainly doing strange things with weather everywhere. You have been unusually cold & we have been so warm that I have not had to wear more than a light jacket outside.
I hate to see you continuing to struggle with chronic pain. I hope you will be seeing your PC doctor soon & that he can recommend a good board certified pain specialist. You need a specialist to get to the bottom of what is causing your back pain. An MRI of your spine can tell them if there is any issues with discs or if nerve roots are inflammed. As we age the fluid in our disc decreases and sometimes this can impinge a nerve root causing sciatica. If a structural issue is ruled out then even though rest may give some relief, it is actually one of the worse things you can do for pain relief in the long run. The back is basically a muscle & the longer a person remains sedentary the back becomes weaker & it is that muscular weakness that leads to chronic pain. As crazy as it sounds walking & doing light physical activity is the best way to resolve the pain. But that is only after the pain specialist makes sure there are no significant issues with your spine. When I first saw a pain specialist, I was so depressed from years of chronic pain left untreated, I had little hope of things improving. Luckily, I was wrong & my pain doctor worked to get my pain controlled by using several different therapies. I had trigger injections to relieve muscle spasm, radio wave therapy to relax muscles that were much too tight and I take a small does of a drug that stops the body's pain signals from traveling to the brain. My pain went from mod.-severe to a very acceptable level. I had to learn to listen to my body and change the way I was doing certain activities. I no longer sew for 6 hours straight. I only do it an hour at a time & then I do something else and go back for another hour after a couple of hours. If I have a really good day, I resist the temptation to exceed my time limit because I know I will pay for overdoing the next day. Everyone is different, but the longer chronic pain is left untreated, the more difficult it can be to get a good response to treatment. After a while the brain actually rewires itself to keep the pain cycle going. So the sooner you can get evaluated by a pain specialist, the better your chances of getting your pain well controlled. Pain specialists usually start out as anesthesiologists in the OR. After that they take several additional years of training before becoming certified as a pain management specialist. They do not push narcotics on patients. In fact, they prescribe narcotics much less often than other types of doctors. There are so many new ways of controlling pain today that these therapies are preferable for most people's chronic pain. I got excellent results from my pain specialist. Most days I do not even think about it and the times I am aware of some slight pain, it is usually because I pushed myself to do too much or did an activity longer than I should have. But the pain is never like it was before I sought treatment and it has been 15 years since I started seeing my pain doctor. I have great hope that you will get a similar response. My pain doctor also treated the chronic pain I had from Lupus arthritis & inflammation, so they can treat different causes of chronic pain. Depending what is causing your different aches & pains will determine what therapy or combination of therapies is used. Once my pain was under control, the depression that goes with chronic pain began to resovle too. You are too talented a person & too nice of a person to have this pain eating away at you & preventing you from doing the things you enjoy in life. I really believe that a good pain specialist could really improve things for you. You might want to look up the names of some pain specialists in your area. If there is a medical school affiliated hospital in your area they are sure to have a pain management clinic program or there are private practice specialists in larger towns. Make sure they are board certified. That ensures that they are trained to the highest standards in their specialty. I hope you won't put this off since the sooner you are treated the better the results. I truly hope your experience is as good as mine was.

I love your posts and quilts so keep going please! I really hope that your pain gets sorted out soon. I know how depressing it can become and how you can isolate yourself if you don't take care.
Can your family help out with the porch and garden?
