BQG Crayon Challenge 2014

Guild17Monday was Reveal Day for my quilters guild's every-other-year mini-quilt show/challenge. This year, our challenge was based on crayons. Each participant reached into a box and drew out three crayons, sight unseen. Whatever three colors she drew were to be the main colors in her entry. She could also add black and neutral if desired. The entries could be no more than 200 inches around (i.e., the lengths of the four sides to add up to no more than 200 inches).

Below are photos of just a few of the entries. We had over 70 entries, if memory serves me.

Guild1
This is my entry. I was delighted with the colors I drew: brick red, sky blue, and a pink that Crayola called lavender. This small quilt will hang in my kitchen eventually.

What a fun idea and I love the quilts. I collect anything "chicken" so I especially like yours. Great work!

I like yours best, then the blue-and-orange Lemoyne stars.

Oh, my goodness. These are just stunning. I love your chickies. I must say that # 76 with the large flowers simply made me gasp.

Our guild has had a challenge like that with crayons. One year it was paint chips that were drawn. This year it is to use nothing but solids in a quilt. No tone on tone or anything, just solids.

What great and wonderfully imaginative quilts came for this fun challenge and how marvelous so many folks participated!!

Your chickens, baskets, and flowers are just delightful! Applause, applause!!

I love the thought that was given so crayons were returned and the assigned colors colored in on the entry number card attached to each quilt with the crayons in a baggie attached to the card. Stellar!!

Thanks for the glorious photos! Does your guild have a website where we might see all of the quilts?

Hugs!

I'm new to your blog and I enjoy it very much. Not only do I like all the "quilty" stuff but I like the book reviews :) I'm a reader, too, so I'm always looking for a good book. Look forward to checking in with you again.
