Susan Cleveland, Meet Susan Cleveland

  Guild1
Susan R. Cleveland (me) and Susan K. Cleveland

I have been wanting to meet this lady, Susan K. Cleveland, ever since I heard of her, back when people kept telling me that I was on tv the other day--when in fact, I knew I had not been.

I got my chance yesterday. My guild enjoyed a program by this award-winning quilt-book author and teacher in which she shared many of her marvelous quilt creations.

Susan is not only a talented quilter and teacher, but she is also an exuberant, energetic, and funny, funny lady. I enjoyed her program so very much.

When we met face to face, I learned that she had also been looking forward to meeting me--something I never imagined. Yeah, we're Facebook friends, but I have lots of prominent quilting teachers/authors as Facebook friends who probably don't give me a thought.

"You were with Fons & Porter!" she exclaimed as we shook hands. "And you have books!" (I did work with Fons & Porter and was the first editor of Love of Quilting, and I do have books, albeit they're all out of print now I believe.) She really acted as if she were as happy to meet me as I was to meet her. I really enjoyed our brief visit.

We share a name, true, but I'm afraid I don't and never will match her talents as a quilt designer. Here are a few of the quilts she shared with us.

You can find the free pattern for this pretty little patriotic quilt on Susan's website, Pieces Be With You. The "stars" are little flying geese, for which Susan's has a quick-and-easy technique.

Wow! Imagine meeting your name twin!! What fun!!

Love the quilts but sadly doubt I'll ever be up to that kind of marvelous creativity, too. Hats off to and applause for Susan K!

Guild programs with trunk shows were always my favorites.

It is brutally cold here but the workmen are here finishing the electrical part of our heat pump/water heater installation just in the nick of time!

Hugs!

Hi Susan! I'm doing some blog catch-up and loved reading how you met another Susan Cleveland! Just so fun! Now... did she give you that Susan quilted name in the top photo?? That would have been extra special. Also love your glasses and picture...you should make that your new sidebar pic. It's a great one!
