I want to thank everyone who sent me calming thoughts, comments, emails, and lifted up prayers for me, friends and family alike. I was really having a bad time yesterday. In hindsight (that being 20/20), I think it was just the effects of too much pain, weakness, and fatigue building up to a fevered pitch. I had no reserves to ward off all the what-ifs and now-whats.
I was feeling a great deal better even before I received a call from my doctor's office. (I took your advice to call back and demand answers.) After the call, I felt better still. Dr. N.'s assistant was very pleasant and informative--and calming. Unfortunately, I was so happy to hear from her, I didn't really process all she said. But the gist was that my MRI showed much arthritic degeneration and bone intrusion and that Dr. N. wanted to discuss treatment options. Simple as that.
I don't know how a person can be so happy to hear that her spine has degenerated to a frightening degree, but I gotta tell you, it beats all the things that were going through my mind yesterday.
I have errands to run today. I'm still in a goodly amount of pain, but with how I'm feeling mentally, I believe I can make it through.
Thanks again to all my dear bloggy friends. What would a girl do without friends.
NOTE: If you haven't already done so, don't forget to check Tuesday blog post to learn how to get in on drawings to win a fun new quilting book.

Glad the doctor's assistant decided to let you in on a little helpful information. Why couldn't they have just told you to begin with?

I'm delighted you called the doctor's office yesterday and that you got the answers you needed to be able to relax, worry far less, and chill to a nice degree. As for what treatment you may need, we'll see about that when the time comes. Meanwhile, prayers continue.
It's likely that the person who called to schedule your appt. next week was a secretary who didn't have the answers or, not being a medical professional, she was not allowed to comment on your medical condition. Had the nurse called you first, she probably couldn't have scheduled the appt. Too much division of labor!
Today we're glad to live near the top of a hill as Tropical Storm Andrea is drenching this part of the world. Before today is over, we may have 3" of rain. Glub, glub! I plan to read and sew.
Be good to you!

I work for Medtronic and we have a therapy called balloon kyphoplasty for the treatment of osteoperosis and a woman shared her story on The Doctors. Ask your doctor about it. Hang in there. Medicine has wonderful thing these days.

So glad that you called in and now feel so much more relieved about it all. Still sending good vibes and healing thoughts.

Best news I've heard all day! Well, not that you're hurting but that you don't have those really bad things to worry about.

I am an RN and work with people who have chronic back pain... exercise, massage therapy, water therapy, proper use of pain meds- try Voltaren gel for the arthritis pain. Ask the dr about a TENS unit... Good luck. Let me know if I can be of any help.
