I saw these red and pink zinnias at Walmart the other day and decided they were just the thing to set in my little red wagon and brighten up my back porch. Now I have to get some petunias and impatiens for container gardening in the back yard, and that will be it for my gardening this year I think.
I seem to have my emotions somewhat under control now; and the Animal Kingdom has settled down too. Miss Daisy, my goddog, came for a visit last night while her folks enjoy a long weekend with family and friends. Taco does not trust Daisy. He tiptoes on little cat feet whenever he is in the same room with her. The hackles on his back stand at attention, and he slinks off to a dark spot. Daisy doesn't give him the time of day. I'm not sure she even knows he's here. Sissy cat.
I got hanging sleeves made for two more quilt show quilts yesterday and got one sewn on. Also got another Granny Square block sewn. I think that makes 40 blocks so far.
After all the whoop-de-do of the past couple of days, my left ankle was swollen to the size of an elephant's foot last night. I think maybe I aggravated that knee having my hissy fit or either trying to get control of the husky dog on Monday. The knee is a little sensitive. although nothing like the pain of a few weeks ago. I put an ice pack on my ankle last night and this morning almost all the swelling is gone. If the problem persists, I'll call Dr. N. and tell him.
Looking forward to another day of sewing today. I have two more hanging sleeves to sew on and several labels to create and attach, and my quilts will be ready for the June quilt show.

Your lovely new flowers are just perfect for brightening your porch and your spirits! Good choice! I like your planting plans, too, and think simple is my mantra this year.
Cheers for your sewing progress! I really much get back to my many interrupted projects if only things around here would get back on an even keel.
The crisis du jour is that yesterday the dermatologist told AMIL she has shingles but what a HUGE blessing it is that it doesn't hurt. AMIL is now on an antibiotic to take every 8 hours around the clock and she should be better in a week or so.
We're off to see the thyroid doctor soon.
Hugs!

Susan, I am so glad you are feeling better! I have problems keeping my emotions in check a lot of time and my Rheumatologist said that "melt downs" are common with Fibromyalgia or any condition/disease that causes constant pain and fatigue. Of course knowing that it is part of the disease doesn't make it any easier to deal with. Have a happy sewing day!!! Gentle hugs...

Susan, those are so pretty, I love the color. They will look beautiful against the background of your yellow house I'm sure! These will cheer you up. I'm glad you are sewing and keeping yourself busy and maybe not so sad as you were yesterday. Sewing is such a wonderful creative occupation. Just touching fabric makes me happy. I hope your ankle feels better soon, try to stay off it if you can & elevate it to relieve the swelling.
Wishing you blessings upon blessings today, pleasant thoughts and happy sewing!
Linda

Beautiful zinnias! I have flower seeds and little plants, but keep putting off going to Walmart or Lowe's to get planters and potting soil. The yard won't grow anything but weeds and grass (mostly weeds), so I plan to put them all on the deck in planters.

You not only brightened your spirits with the zinnias, but mine as well. Last summer I had hanging pots of geraniums in reds and pinks, and that is my new favorite color combo.Thank you for that!
The forecast in Minnesota is for "more snow." We are all weary of the winter that just won't end, reminding me of the saying, "I'm down to my last nerve--and you're standing on it!"
Cheers!

Such happy flowers! And I hope your ankle behaves! Maybe things are starting to settle down for you. I surely hope so! Enough already with the hateful old pain, right? LOVE YOU, SUSAN! (And, Jesse - no more surprise critters. Okay?)

I read your blog because you are so inspiring. I am in your age range, have Fibro and am trying to get back to quilting as I now have time. Fibro makes us hypersensitive, to light, sound, smells etc,, and yes emotions. It has just been too much for you. Pain wears us down. On top of the fatigue. Be kind to yourself. Ok? Very hard to give ourselves a break, even when we need it.
