I went outside this morning to take photos of my backyard progress. It was so humid my glasses fogged up and my knees went weak. But I got a few shots before the the sticky heat drove me inside to climate controlled air. Here they are.

My piece de resistance! Jesse helped me move this VERY HEAVY old pedestal sink from the basement into the backyard, and I planted it with inpatiens and some hangy green stuff. Vann had the sink when we married. I have no idea where he got it. I think I have mentioned in the past that Vann was somewhat of a hoarder. I have always wanted to make a planter or bird bath out of it, but some folks I know claimed that would be redneck tacky. What do you think? Tacky or cool?

The plants are still suffering a little repotting shock, but they should fill out and look great in a day or two.

I set up a little bird-feeding station, and watched the nuthatches enjoy it until roosting time yesterday. Then Old Red Tail the Squirrel came sometime and messed everything up. I knew he was going to do it because I saw him sneaking around the bottom of the table just before I stopped watching.

...as does his soulmate Molly Mulch.

I've had this stepping stone for a long time. I think it came from Tuesday Morning.

Added a few more thrift store plates.

You have purely outdone yourself, gardenwise. I love it! Can I come live at your house?

The planter is lovely - anything but tacky - bet you couldn't do tacky if you tried Susan!

Lovely plantings and a charming variety of pots, china, and faces in your garden. The sink is lovely! I wonder if it would look even better peeking out from a surrounding of green and/or flowering plants. Sort of House in the Roses style, if you've ever seen that blog.
I'm playing catch-up today as yesterday was a lost medical day (see your email). Happily, AMIL seems a bit better today.
Hugs!

Definitely cute sink as planter....not even close to tacky (unlike if Vann had a toilet stored down in the basement and you hauled that up to plant:)

I really like your sink as a planter --- and the little green plant that trails is called Creeping Jenny. It also makes a great ground cover and here in NC is overwinters if our winter is not too severe. Each planter needs a "thriller, filler and a spiller!"
Looks like you have done that with your impatients and creeping jenny!

I don't think it is tacky at all. I think it is creative and looks fantastic.
