A Rabbit Burning Sage Brush

Images

Daddy always told us that what we saw in the full moon was not a man at all, but a rabbit burning sagebrush. It might sounds like a complicated image to you, but that is exactly what I've always seen when I look at a full moon.

I went looking on Google Images, and the above photo is the closest I could find to what I see when I look at the full moon. The burning of sagebrush is absent in this photo, but the rabbit is sort of the same--except my rabbit is skinnier and more B'rer Rabbit looking and less bunny-like.

Moon_treeWell, anyway, why are we talking about a full moon? Because in the last few days, my back problems and fibro problems have become much worse. And last night when I walked out of the church after Ding-a-Ling practice, this is sort of the sight that greeted me (photo at left). And I recalled how my chronic pain issues seem to be much worse during full moon.

Then I remembered that I had seen on tv how last night was supposed to bring huge solar flares that might even disrupt communications on earth. And, too, the weather report told us that rain is on the way.

So I am no longer puzzled by the fact that my symptoms have flared horridly after two or three weeks of feeling much better. I suppose all these atmospheric and cosmic occurences are to blame. So I guess I'll just have to bear with it for a bit.

CONGRATULATIONS to my grandson Jesse who began work at Honda in Lincoln today. I am so proud of that boy. Do you know that he brought his mom ice cream Tuesday night after she had to bury their cat Lucy? Is that not a good boy, or what?

Does anybody else see that rabbit burning sagebrush in the full moon? I'd just like to know if that's a family thing or if anybody else sees him. I googled the term and couldn't find anything.

Seeing a rabbit on the moon with or without burning sage is new to me. I always see a smiling face and have no family stories of anything else to be seen there.

Since the full moon affects tides, pregnant ladies (more go into labor when there's a full moon), and general craziness, it's reasonable it would also affect joints. Add in rain, and woe is me, too!

How sweet it was of Jesse to bring his mom a treat to help with her sorrow at the loss of Miss Lucy. Cheers for Jesse's new job, too! Will he commute or move to Lincoln?

No UFO progress yet, but the day is young.

Hope you feel better!

Hugs!

In Japan, when the moon's full they see a rabbit pounding mochi (sweet rice for rice cakes) in a mortar; and in China, the moon goddess Chang-O is there with her rabbit, who's standing on his hind legs beneath a cinnamon tree and mixing the elixir of life. There's something similar in Korea, but I'm not familiar with that one.

I think you could well be right that atmospheric effects could be having an influence and right now apparently they are as extreme as they get. Hopefully you'll start to pick up again soon.

Congratulate Jesse - that's a great achievement. Jobs are hard to come by these days!! Bet you're really pleased!

The only thing I have ever heard about was the 'Man in the Moon'...then of course that the moon was made of Green cheese (not sure what that was about, LOL). BUT, I can see a rabbit in that image, though I must admit, my entire life, the only thing I have seen when I looked up at a full moon was something beautiful. My bedroom faces east with a 6' X 3' window and when the moon is big a bright, I open my blinds wide to let the moonlight in. It reflects off my mirrored closet doors and the entire bed is bathed in moonlight for about an hour. So lovely I can't sleep until it passes out of my sight because I don't want to miss one moment of it. As for health flare ups, my Scleroderma has been off the charts, but I have written it off to the snowstorms, wind and cold weather here in Northern Utah. Feel better soon! Gentle hugs and God bless...

I never heard of the rabbit on the moon either, moon made of blue cheese yes! Here on the prairie, the moon travels from the garden, past the side of the house to the front yard and old wrap around front porch. Last year in the late summer when my old dog Toby was passing, his last breath occured as the moon reached the porch archway, and as I sat by his side and beheld it all, in my heart and mind I knew that breath and his spirit went upward on that moonbeam. I think of that each month when the moon is full. Feel better soon!

Hi Susan, It is kinda funny, but Julie Fukuda, a quilter in Japan, was just today talking about a rabbit and the moon. Check it out. A few pos ts back she had a wonderful article that was in the paper about her charitable work with quilting and scouts. Her blog is myquiltdiary.blogspot.com

Never heard the rabbit-burning-sagebrush theory, but my folks would LOVE it considering our moon fixations! LOL! And, because we burn sage & sweetgrass to carry our prayers & to purify, it really fits with your vision! As for Jesse? He's a ROCK STAR! Makes me wish I had a son as well as my daughter! LOVE YOU!
