As it turns out, Birdie was not meant to be part of our doggie family. I'll miss her, but I'm happy for the family that got her back.
Yesterday after work, Andy picked Birdie up and took her to her apartment for a visit. Birdie slipped her collar in Andy's back yard and high-tailed it up the road behind the apartment. Andy, of course, gave chase. When she caught up to Miss Birdie, she found that she had been led to Birdie's real home--she also found out that Birdie's real name is Skye. From Andy's account of the story, it sounds like the owner was very glad to find his dog. But Andy plans to keep an eye out for Birdie/Skye for the next two weeks while she's still in her apartment to make sure our buddy is being cared for.
So that's the latest chapter from Bark Bark Manor.
Now follow me over to Beverly's Blog to see what's going on this lovely Pink Saturday.

Hmmmm ... not sure HOW I feel about that. I would ordinarily be HAPPY to know a pet & owner have been reunited. But it seems to ME that the owner hadn't made a huge effort if he lived that near Andy & she hadn't seen any LOST DOG signs or anything. Heck, years ago, my cat Tarbaby slipped out when the door opened and I canvassed every neighborhood I could GET to & did that for 3 DAYS. I was like a detective looking for a ... you KNOW I'm gonna SAY it ... CAT BURGLAR! LOL! I also had signs everywhere! Luckily, I found her on the afternoon of Day Three. And where WAS she, you may wonder? Happily basking in the sun atop somebody's car. Dumb cat! Anyway, I'm with Andy about the keeping her eye out thing! I know she wanted HER doggy! THAT SUCKS!

What tugs on the family heartstrings! Y'all have been so good to Birdie/Skye and welcomed her with love, food, shelter, and medical care, so of course she is bound to be missed big time.
I, too, have mixed feelings about Birdie being back with her owner. It seems to me the owner should have put lost dog signs in the neighborhood and in the newspaper and should have notified Birdie's regular vet. I'm glad for the owner, but hope the costs of Birdie's vet visits, tag, and surgery have been reimbursed to Andy or to you.
Will Andy be in the market for a dog after she moves to her new home?
Big hugs to all as you adjust to Birdie's absence.

Oh, I am happy that Birdie/Skye found her true home. It is kind of sad, though. I had a similar experience with a sweet, little schnauzer. He was by a store, and appeared lost, so the store owner and I decided that I would take care of him. I gave her my info & later, the dog's owner called, and said to call him by whatever the name was (I've forgotten). I did, and the pup perked right up. He was a charmer, but I'm happy that he went home. It is tough when you have already given them a name! Mine was going to be Harvey.
Just love your blog, and your book reviews!

Sure hope Andy is able to find a pooch of her own to keep her company in her new house! Happy, but sad at the same time. If it was meant to be...

Well apparently there are bigger better plans in Andy's near future on a pet, otherwise it wouldn't have worked out the way it did. Sorry to see one go, but keep an eye out for the next one coming. It will even be better than the last one.

Feeling a bit sad about Birdie but at least she is reunited with her owner. She was only with you a short while but I'm sure it will be difficult without her. At least she found a good home when she was lost with you.
