Weeded and Mulched

Straw

I think yesterday was the hottest day yet around here. I didn't check to see what the official temperature was, but I know it was over 100 here.

And this was the day that my landscaping buddy Steve and his workers chose to weed and mulch my "natural area"--naturally weedy. I feel so sorry for people who must work outside in this weather. But at least they have work, which is more than a lot of people can say.

The area looks great now, and the doggie's love it. They don't have to slog through weeds taller than themselves now to answer Nature's call. I wish I had taken a photo of it before the de-weeding. It was a mess.

Skipper hole

As you can see, Skipper still finds plenty of places to continue his trek to China, or his search for fishing worms, or whatever he's attempting to accomplish. What he has done, though, is to make an absolute mess of the area immediately out my back door. A mess that Steve and I have not yet decided what to do about. That might have to wait till next year.

Woke up to thunder and rain this morning. Naturally. Every time I run my sprinklers, which I did late yesterday afternoon, it rains the next day. But I'm not complaining. I know much of the country is praying for rain. And I'm praying right along with them.

My plans for today are sewing in the morning and reading in the afternoon. Let's see if I can get those plans to pan out.

Your weeded and mulched "natural area" looks terrific. I planted some flowers out by the street in front of my house and once I have been watering them, the weeds have popped up like you wouldn't believe! I think I can see them growing before my eyes. Love seeing Skipper digging to China.

It was 109 degrees here(NW Arkansas) yesterday!Records are breaking!
I drag the hose around and hope for the best! We had cloud cover and a breeze this morning...gently moving my bamboo whind chimes!

I just ordered an older quilt book "Sister Quilts" in order to have the Russian Sunflower quilt pattern. While doing this, I kept seeing a book written by you, Susan....on grandmother's flower garden quilts. AND I do have your book in my workbasket with some English paper piecing....an ongoing project! LOL!

We're sweltering right along with you, sweetie! Tomorrow the high is forecast to be 87*F and I hope they're right! What bliss that would be.

Love your weeded and mulched yard. If not for weeds, our yard would not be green at all. Sigh! Have you thought about putting pavers. a patio, or a wide walkway outside your back door so Skipper's path to China is at least further away from you door?

Hope your plans for today worked out or that you got an even better (tastier, more fun, what ever) offer of something different to do!

Hugs!

Skipper's playground is beautiful! We've had the same weather as you, but then I think we may live somewhat close to each other. It rained all day yesterday and was mercifully cooler. My sweet hubby and I are headed to Wind Creek State Park this morning for a ten day camping trip! I'll come by when I get back. Talk to you then!

Well one site says to make an area of sand and fill with toys and treats encouraging Fox Terriers to dig there. Of course you'd be forever trying to get him to use it! Not so fun in the heat. If they were first bred to dig for vermin and foxes at least he's true to the breed. My sister has two Jack Russells. She got the second one to settle the first one down. Silly girl.
