I attended Birmingham Quilters Guild board meeting yesterday, the first one of the new year and the first one I have attended in several years. All officers and committee chairmen are board members in our guild, and I haven't held a board position since I was cuddle quilts (charity quilts) chairman.
The meeting started out very well, but we hit a snag about halfway through. One of our members became very ill and had to have the paramedics. We though she was having a heart attack, but we've received reports this morning that the doctors at the hospital couldn't determine what had caused her attack. But she's stable. I'm hoping it was just the heat.
I was able to give board members a sneak peak at all the Block of the Month blocks I have made for the 2011-12 guild year. I can't show them here yet since there are several guild members who read this blog, and I want them to be surprised. But I will be posting them here after they are made available to the membership.
We heard a lot of exciting plans for the new guild year, some great programs and well known teachers. If you're a quilter and not in a guild, I suggest you find one. I love my guild. The fellowship of so many like-minded people makes quilting even more fun.
I plan to get the backing for my Autumn Pinwheels seamed up today and work a little on the French General Snowball Quilt, number 16 on my UFO list.
Have a great day, everyone.

So wonderful it must be to be a quilter. I sure hope the person that got ill is okay. That had to be scary.

Oh, what fun to anticipate a good, interesting, and delightful year ahead in your guild's programs!
I also wish your ill board member well and hope this turns out to be nothing serious.
I'll be looking forward to seeing the BOMs as they're revealed. Perhaps I'll join in and make a sampler quilt along with your guild participants.
Love the sign, too!
Hope your day is as gloriously cool as ours is!
Hugs!
