Taxing Work

Tax

I hate any project in which I have to deal with numbers. I have nothing against numbers, but I just get all rattled when I have to interact with them. Things like balancing my check book, figuring yardage or measurements for a quilt, or comparing miles per gallon between automobiles just put me in a nervous dither. And don't even come at me with one of those stupid questions about freight trains leaving different locations at different speeds and which one will reach Buffalo first. It's not that I can't do math. I can. I know how, at least. But any math issue requires many attempts--many, many attempts--if I'm to get the same answer twice.

That's why the above table full of paperwork is among the things that I'll avoid until I can avoid it no more. That table holds all my tax records for 2010, which I have to take to my tax accountant on Monday. After working at it all morning, I finally have everything together, I think. Thank heavens I don't have to do that again until next year.

We have a weekend guest: my goddog, Miss Daisy. Daisy is staying with us while her people take a little weekend getaway. She's such a sweet, cuddly little girl. It always makes me happy when she visits.

Skipper was ambivalent to begin with about Daisy's visit. On the one paw, he viewed the extra doggie as another buddy to play with; but on the other paw, he was afraid she might get his bone, his place on the couch, a little of his attention.

After all, Skipper had already had a traumatic day yesterday. He tore his right front dew claw almost off, and we had to go to the vet's office to have it removed. The procedure took only a few minutes and Skipper seemed no worse for wear, just minus a dew claw that he didn't need anyway. He appears to have settled into a cautiously optimistic attitude toward Miss D.

Miss Diva Sophie, as usual, is pretending that she still lives in a one-day family.

Don't forget that tomorrow is UFO PROGRESS REPORT DAY. I'll get Mr. Linky up just as fast as I can in the morning. So all you UFO Busters, be sure to check in and leave your link tomorrow.

Hi Susan,
You are not alone when it comes to hating tax time. Got mine done last week and glad it's over!
Sorry to hear about your trip to the vet. Thank goodness it was a quick visit but I'm sure it was still costly.(That Skipper found the best home!)
I'm catching up on all the blogs I've missed reading for the past week and I'm just now sending a birthday card off to Edna Quick. Thanks for letting us know!
Have a safe and fun weekend with your three helpers! Blessings, Pat Mc

Numbers make me nervous. Unless it's numbers of things I can have! Then all of a sudden it gets pretty simple!

OHHHHHHH (she shudders) we still have this to endure. You're not alone in trying to avoid numbers. I've debated about getting the tee shirt that says: "I was promised there would be no math involved - ever!" Where shall you go to reward yourself for diligently enduring the tax hassles and coming out victorious?!

I'm glad to hear Skipper is none the worse for the wear.

Your visiting Miss Daisy is so cute! Hope her people have a wonderful time while away.

BTW, Ms Edna's card left here yesterday.

Hugs!

God, I hate tax time. We have got to get started on ours as well. Shoot.

That little pooch is so cute. Isn't it funny how boy dogs look boyish and girl dogs look girlie? I used to thing the same thing about our horses, too. Have fun with your goddog!

LOL...pictures of Miss Daisy always make me smile. Can't wait to see that Jungle Quilt...perhaps it could be a graduation present? Hang in there...
