Allergies in Bloom

Trees1

They're a sight to behold, I know. That is if my eyes weren't so swollen and itchy that I can barely see them.

The beautiful Bradford pear trees, among other things, are blooming all over the place. I shot the photo above uptown on the street in front of the establishment that we Leedites refer to simply as "the cement plant," (usually pronounced "see-ment plant.") The photo below came from my neighborhood, just around the corner from me.

I know we're supposed to feel joy and hope when spring arrives--and I do, really. It's just that the allergy symptoms sometimes overpower those hopeful feelings. The allergy meds help, but they put me in a fog.

The dogs are both itching like crazy. I've put them both on benadryl. So we're a drugged-up bunch around here these days. I think we'll try to stay inside today and get a few things done before we hit the pills.

If you haven't signed up for my CSN Stores $45 gift certificate drawing, be sure to drop down to yesterday's post and leave a comment. That will get you into the drawing.

I hope you all have a great day, with no sneezing, congestion, itchy watery eyes, scratchy throat, coughing, or scratching dogs.

Susan,
The Bradford pear trees are beautiful when they are in bloom but they cause havoc to my nose and throat! I am glad Spring is on its way!
Hugs,
Donna

Our Bradford pears have buds but no blooms yet.

AMIL had a medical appt. yesterday after which we played, went to a quilt shop, and out to lunch at Crab Louie's - serious yum at both places!

We're off again in minutes for another medical appt. followed by a visit to a new-to-us consignment shop. Joy!!

Hope you, Sophie, and Skipper feel lots better soon and that you can find meds that help without leaving you in a fog.

Big hug!

Ah choo. I feel your pain. I am so much better since I started taking Singulair. I take a pill every night at bedtime all year long, and my allergy symptoms have disappeared. And no druggy foggy feeling.

Our 'allergy trees' have yet to bloom, but I know they won't be far behind. In the meantime, I am being annoyed, not by allergies, but by a lingering 99.4 degree temperature. It's not enough to knock me out & let me rest - just enough to make me ache & drag. UGH. It's a virus or flu or whatever that I keep fighting, but I will call it Spring Fever 'cause I am SO not a fan of Spring. Sigh. Hope the Benadryl does the trick! LOVE YOU!

Hi Susan ~ the trees are beautiful! We're not even close to that stage here in VA. Tomorrow it'll only be 45...I'm headed to SC in a couple of weeks where I'm sure I'll need to take spring instead of winter clothes. Thanks for posting your neck of the woods!

Oh, man, what I'd give to see no snow on the ground and buds in the trees right now! It does feel like it's coming though!

Hi Susan. I had to mention you in my blog. We here in Maine are not close to Spring at all. I can't believe you have buds on your trees. Wow!

Beautiful trees Susan! I know, I'm not looking forward to allergy season either. The only thing that really helps me is regular old-fashioned sudafed, which you have to sign for at the pharmacy counter nowadays. Hope you all feel better soon!
