"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store? What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?" -- Theodor Seuss Geisel
With much of the country under tons of snow this morning, I hope all my friends out there are warm and comfy and that nobody's feet are suffering the fate of Mr. Grinch's.
I thought of that passage from Dr. Seuss's book yesterday as I was finishing up the above puzzle. I think it's the sixth one I've done since Christmas--and the second time to do that particular one. The first time I put it together, when I tried to move it from my card table, it slid off the mat and the whole thing came apart.
It was really the third time I had put that particular puzzle together. I remembered it while I was working it the first time. I don't know what happened to the original. I think I gave it away at guild or sold it at a yard sale.
A card I received from Diane Phalen with my recent puzzle order.
Maybe some sewing room work today. I have to start getting things packed and ready to take to retreat next week. Andy is going to house/dog sit for me while I'm gone. That way I won't have anything to worry about while I'm there. (What d'you want to bet I think of something?) I'm looking forward to the retreat--just not to packing and loading the car. But if I start early and load one thing at a time, maybe it won't be so hard.
Sending warm thoughts to all my snowed-in blogging buddies this morning--and to you who are not snowed in as well.

Love the Seuss quote and picture!
What a beautiful puzzle you've just completed! The spring-like colors, flowers, quilts, and setting is all so pretty. You make me want to look thru my Diane Phalen calendars for pictures to frame this instant. Not that I have frames or wall space, mind you.
I hope you can load your car at your leisure with everything that isn't sensitive to cold or heat, Bring the upstairs things downstairs, then load the more sensitive things at the last minute. That should make it do-able without taking up too many spoons at once. What fun the quilting retreat will be!! Nice that Andy will mind the homefront for you.
Back to angelically sewing on binding!
Hugs!

Thanks for the nice thoughts Susan! This snow is just too much! I'm ready for Spring!! Love the puzzle! I used to love to make puzzles but for some reason got away from it. I need to buy one to make with the girls. I think that would be a great project for us to do together!

I just had a thought how strange my life has become. To have to pack the car over a period of a week, one thing at a time. Not so long ago, I waited till the morning I left for a trip, threw everything in the car and hauled hiney. Life takes so much planning ahead now.

I LOVE your puzzle! And I love the card. I have some puzzles at the Sparta but haven't done them yet. Maybe you just motivated me. I am so glad that your friend Gene is doing good. Hope you have fun on the retreat.

I find that doing things more slowing works better for me too...doing things quickly was left behind with all the yesterdays! The last puzzle I completed had a Native American theme...including an all white buffalo (albinism)...I gave it, along with "tons" of other stuff to the person who helped me move. Enjoy your retreat!

I just finished a puzzle Tuesday night of a beautiful 2 story yellow house. New out of the box and it had 1 piece missing. Maybe I will have better luck next time. The puzzle you did was so pretty. Have you ever tried a 3-D puzzle. I bought one in Mobile several years ago and still have it in the box. Tried twice to put it together. Maybe next time I can do it.
Hope you have fun on your retreat.
Have a blessed day.

I have NEVER got a puzzle together LOL My sister gave me the best looking puzzle (vintage kitchen)but it's to much for me so I set the box on one of my shelves in the studio and it looks good just setting there.
Also I love quilts and have made a copule baby quilts with the help of a great friend. But never done one by myself another thing that takes to long. If I can't complete a project in one day I loose interest
I have some cards with quilts on them that I send to my quilting friends for different occasions
I have really enjoyed looking around your blog

Love the puzzle and you're so fast!! Yes, when I pack I try to have several smaller bags rather than one or two big heavy ones.
