P is for Pink

Pink6 This is a banner from a bunting I made for a swap partner a while back when I took part in a "Cupcake" swap. My swap partner was Janet, and she sent me some really great stuff too, including a wonderful pink apron, which is hanging in my sewing room

Someday I'm going to make a bunting to hang at my kitchen window. It will probably be reds and blues and greens and yellows, sort of Provencal.

Below is a photo of the entire Cupcake bunting.

I got another Noah's Ark block completed yesterday afternoon, and almost finished the fourth one. Would have too, except Skipper and Sophie got bored and warned me that if I didn't come downstairs and be with them, they were going to find something to do that would not make me happy. So I shut down the sewing room and spent the rest of the evening with them.

But before sewing time, I made my pre-snow-storm grocery shopping trip to Walmart. People around here are in a panic, trying to make sure they have enough milk and bread to last a century. It happens every time a major snow storm is predicted. I saw one couple who had eight gallons of milk in their buggy, and I don't know how much bread.

The forecasters aren't sure just how much snow and/or ice we'll get, but one of them said last night that it would be the most we'd had since 1993. That's when we had a blizzard with a foot of snow and no electricity for a week.

Well, I have my milk and bread--and more importantly, Sophie and Skipper's Cesar dog food. I bought a two-week supply of the stuff just in case worse comes to worst. I also got me a bottle of wine and makings for white chili and regular chili. I'll get the chilis made this weekend before the frozen precip arrives--just in case we lose power. If we do, Andy and Jesse will come and stay with me.

I have a generator, and I'm going to get my neighbor friend Gene to come down and make sure I know how to use it properly. It hasn't been used since Vann's been gone.

Andy and I are going for an outing this afternoon before we get snowed in. We're going to have lunch at The Fish Market and then see "True Grit." I'm looking forward to it all. Our book club will be discussing the book True Grit on Friday, and I wanted to be sure to see the new movie before the discussion. Everybody I know who has seen the movie loves it. What's not to love? Even bad movies are good when Jeff Bridges is the star. Remember "The Big Labowski?" I love that movie!

I'm saying a prayer for everyone in the path of this storm to be safe and warm. Please remember to bring your animals in too, and check on the elderly. But first, check out Beverly's blog for more more Pink celebrating.

I'm so glad you were able to get the needed groceries and that you and Andy have a pre-storm outing planned!

Applause for all you accomplished for the Noah quilt!!!!! I look forward to photos. Will the rainbow fabric be used in a border?

I've taken photos of all of my UFOs except for the one I cannot find - yet. Today I plan to make two bindings (one is already cut and has been since June) but I have to finish organizing the sewing room before I can sew. In making room for the ironing cart in this small room, I make a big mess on my cutting table. Sigh!

Methinks it's time for the flannel sheets. Your storm is due here Monday or Tuesday.

Stay safe and snug!

Hugs!

I love Jeff Bridges!!! I love the Big Lebowski!!!! Hilarious, I think. Didn't you LOVE Crazy Heart? I have to buy that movie, because I could watch it over and over again (like I do the Big Lebowski).

The Dude abides.

Yumm...Fish Market! Hopefully we won't lose power! I don't have a generator, so I'd have to cook on the grill...in the snow...and the ice! My little sister and her husband are stuck in Dubai because Delta has cancelled all flights to Atlanta and Huntsville...they don't know when they can make it home! Not looking forward to this!

Those banners are so pretty. I want to make one too. You know what colors it will be! It's snowing here too, as a matter of fact. Did you know Criminal Minds is having a spin-off? I think it's starting in February. Thank goodness. They keep taking off what few shows I like. And that's my very favorite! You and those dogs stay tucked in and warm now.

i don't have a blog, but your reading yours encouraged me to work on my unfinished projects. yesterday i took a king size 9 patch to the quilters and today i tied a smaller nine patch together and bound it too! these two projects have been sitting around for years. thanks for the inspiration!

What a cute banner. I can't agree with you on True Grit. It was not like John Wayne's version and so much blood and violence. The girl playing Maddie was great though. I hope you liked it but I had my eyes closed during too much of it...lol... Happy Pink Saturday.

What a pretty, happy banner! And I see you didn't post yesterday so I'm wondering if you DID lose power! HOPE NOT! We are cold but no snow expected here in the main area of Houston - POSSIBLY flurries in the outlying areas tomorrow. Stay warm & just snuggle with the doggies! You & Andy find you some FUN stuff to do! LOVE YOU!
