Busters Listed

Pics_8905 I think I have all our UFO Busters listed in the first list in my right sidebar. If I have left out anyone, please let me know. Each person's name is also a link to her blog (if she has one). So you can click on the names to go to the blogs.

Isn't that little alien fellow in the photo cute. If you would like to make one for your favorite child (or for yourself, as I might do), you can find the pattern at The Oz Material Girls online store. Just click on the link to go right to the pattern.

I haven't made much progress so far this week on my UFO busting--just a little crocheting on the kitty afghan. The weather (snow, ice, cold) has got my mind and body staging a rebellion.

Also the news from Arizona on Saturday keeps preying on my mind. I have to believe that there are many more good people in the world than bad. But sometimes, it feels just the opposite. What would drive someone to do such horrible acts is beyond my ken. And then when crazies try to blame it on God, that "God sent the shooter to punish" crap, I get sadder and more confused.

But I digress into darkness. Back to the UFO Bust. If any of you still have UFO lists you that you want to send me, I'll take them. I'm not going to post them or anything. I just plan to do a post at some point talking about how many UFOs we're trying to bust, etc. If you have any photos of your UFOs I might use, I'll take those too.

I plan to post my UFO list somewhere in my sidebar so that I can mark off projects as I finish them. You might like to do that too.

The main rule about this UFO Bust is to not be pressured or stressed. It's meant to be fun. It's not a competition or a race. If you don't finish even one UFO but still have fun, you will have succeeded. The Bust is just a way to get us working and possibly, quite possibly, finishing up some of the things we started. It's always more fun to do things with friends, I say.

Also it's still not too late to join us. Just let me know here or via email (suscleve@aol.com) if you'd like to participate. If you haven't been following this, go HERE to read more about the Blackberry Creek 2011 UFO Bust.

Sophie and Skipper send thanks to everyone who wished them a Happy Birthday. They got to go for a long walk yesterday. And even though I was frozen stiff when we got home, they enjoyed it and took long naps afterward.

We still have lots of snow and ice on the ground, but the sun peeked out earlier. It's supposed to get even colder and stay that way for the rest of the week. And I just looked out the window, and it's snowing again. What has happened in the South??? The Poles are melting and the South is freezing! I'm going now and crawl under a quilt with my doggies.

Methinks 3 of my UFOs will go to Debra as I'm totally out of ideas about what to do with one of them, one is made of estate blocks and is not "my" colors (golds, creams, tans), and the last is more country than I am these days. How's that for knocking 3 off the UFO list right quick?! Oh, only subtract numbers 9 and 22 as the estate sale row quilt never made it to my UFO list.

Love the alien fabric!

Yes, I wonder what's up with the crazy weather, too, though I remember snowy winters in Memphis when I was a kid in the 1950s. We have sunshine today with a high forecast to be a tad over 40*F!

The horribly sad news from AZ and the tragic news of all the flooding in Australia is so upsetting. I wonder if the church(s) that says this is God's judgement completely missed the "God is LOVE" and the "judge not" lessons or are they just arrogant and greedy for publicity? Shame on them!

Stay cozy, my friend!

Hugs!

Good Wednesday morning.
The little alien guy is cute!
Snow and ice is suppose to be an excuse to stay inside and quilt...so I hear.
Sadly, there have always been violent people. It does seem to be much worse now. The very best we can do is pray. My prayers are definitely with the victims of this terrible tragedy.
No matter how bad things look, one look at my girls(two yellow labs), and I'm smiling and everything is good for the moment. Those furry kids sure are a pleasure and I know you share my thoughts.
Enjoy your snow(stay inside) and remember spring will be here soon. Pat McDonald

I still need to compile my list and add the button. It's been so busy here trying to get everything in order before school starts. I'm hoping by the end of the week to have it done. It's great that you are listening to your body, it tends to know best.

The news is filled with tragedies and it makes me so sad, it makes my whole family so sad. We try to use those moments to talk about things (since we have little ones) and use it as an inspiration to do good. Nothing takes away from the atrocities going on all over the world. But if we can help one person feel loved, cherished or valued maybe that will make a small difference. We can't do too much, but we do everything that we can.

The alien fabric is so cute, as is the alien at top of page...do you remember "flying purple people eaters"?
I think your UFO project is quite nice...I have 2 or 3 things to finish...nothing overly creative or exciting!
Don and I lived in Tucson twice over the years...so this tragedy really hits home...as did 9/11, we'd lived in NJ and had been to the WTC twice...once to eat lunch halfway up. I don't understand what makes people "go postal." I know Sophie and Skipper enjoyed their walk...hope you're thawed!

One of the best things about pets is that they help keep you warm.

I like the Bible verse where Jesus says (paraphrasing), "If my people who are called by my name will repent and turn to me, I will heal their land." Our land really needs healing.

HI Susan,

This reminds me, I have to post on Friday about my UFOs. No progress this week. But I did get the borders on a quilt I didn't list as a UFO, because I had started busting it it December. Prior to that it had been a UFO for about 3 or 4 years! So, I am happy to get 'er done. Then, I can choose the next project to start busting. I have a couple of sew-in days planned and think I'm going to take one of those to work on for the sew-ins.

I feel the same about the media and blame that's going on with the whole AZ affair. I blogged about it today. I posted a link to a GREAT commentary by Jon Stewart today, if you want to read it. He restored my believe in "goodness" a little. Maybe it would help you, too.

I think that's Isaiah. That's one of my favorites too. And I believe it.
