I promised to tell about the quilt that I'm using for a tree skirt in the photo in yesterday's post. So of course when I went to photograph it for this post, both doggies demanded to get in on the act.
But after much threatening, cajoling, and treat-giving, I finally got them to go someplace else to play, so here's the quilt sans chiens.
Quilting by New Traditions, Birmingham, Alabama.
And now here's what all I know about this quilt and this pattern:
Way back, years ago, someone gave a workshop at my guild, Birmingham Quilters Guild, called "Mary's Triangles." I forget the teacher's name, but she wasn't Mary. Come to think of it, Mary wasn't even the originator of the technique/pattern. That was Sally Schneider. I think Mary was actually a friend of Sally's.
It's all very complicated, isn't it? Well, forget all that. All you need to know is that if you GO HERE you will find a great tutorial for making these easy fun blocks. There are several different layouts for putting your blocks together, as you will see.
Our workshop also included a fabric swap. Everyone brought squares or fabric and swapped them with everyone else. Each person provided her own background fabric. Some participants complained that some of the fabric was "ugly." But as it turns out, one quilter's ugly is another quilter's treasure. I defy you to find the ugly fabric in this quilt.

I have another Christmas party to attend today at the clubhouse in my friend Stuart's neighborhood. Only about five miles from here. And I look forward to seeing Stuart and the ladies that work with him.
I did the last of my Christmas shopping yesterday (except for groceries). I'm glad that's over. That is not part of the joy of Christmas to me. But I had waited too late to shop online. I'll know better next year.
Actually, next year, I'd like to make all my gifts. I made some of them this year; but the year ran out before I got them all made.
Have a good day, everyone. The countdown is on. Are you ready?
Added: I just found some cute free patterns for making Christmas ornaments. They look easy and fun. Thought I'd share. GO HERE!

Great quilt and block layout! Love the tutorial and the many ways this block can be used. Thanks!
Your four-legged kids are too cute and know how to get treats, don't they?!
Congrats on finishing your gift shopping. I'll be hand stitching binding today with the kind help of AMIL. TWhen the label is on, that will be my last gift completed. Whoopeeeee!
Hugs!

It is just nuts how our dogs insist in walking all over a quilt when we spread it on the floor for a photo, isn't it? Every time you post on Sophie and Skipper and think how lucky you are that they like each other. Sigh.
Your Christmas tree/skirt is beautiful Susan. The colors are so jewel like. And those little ornaments are as cute as can be!

A gorgeous quilt! In prior years I've handmade or baked all my gifts. But the past few years I've sent money to my oldest daughter with the two grandchildren. And my daughters and SILs and I forgo presents now. But it was such fun to make things. Every present had invisible love stamped on it! (I love to see those precocious doggies of yours!)
