Blessed Mabon

The skies they were ashen and sober;

The leaves they were withering and sere;

Hello Lady Autumn. You're here at last. This is the day I look forward to all through summer--the first day of autumn, the equinox, Mabon. The doorway to October. I love it!

I love all the sights, smells, sounds, colors, and sensations of autumn. It's my favorite time of year by far.

Now I can dust off the soup pot, drink more coffee and hot chocolate, watch the leaves carpet my yard, and snuggle with my doggies under a quilt on the sofa.

Well, maybe not just yet. The high today is supposed to be somewhere in the mid-90s. But there's hope--now that Lady Autumn is here.

Welcome, My Lady. Take off your shawl and stay a while. We're glad to have you any time at The Yellow House.

And Happy Rednesday Too!

As we all know, one of the starring colors of autumn is red. So today, I'm linking to Sue's weekly Rednesday blog party. I haven't visited yet, but it will be fun on the day of the Autumn Equinox to see what everyone has come up with.

Have a great day, everyone. Happy Autumn.

Added: Just FYI, I'm not a witch nor a practitioner of Wiccan (although I know some very nice people who are), but I love the old Celtic holidays, and especially anything autumn. That's why I celebrate Mabon.

Susan, I love Autumn too. The leaves especially, though raking them not so much. I love to walk through leaves suffleing my feet and kicking the leaves just as I did as a child. Like you I'm ready for homemade soup.
Happy Autumn to you Susan hope the temperature soon drops.

Me three! Autumn is a particular delight for me as I love the colors, the warming foods, the cool breezes, and crisp fragrances.

I've always been drawn to Celtic designs. The Baptist church we belonged to in TX had a women's retreat on Celtic Christianity that was just wonderful. It just seems so right, as if it's part of the equation that's been missing for too long.

Do you have autumn decorations in your home? I do, but not to excess (IMHO!!).

Hugs!

Happy Autumn to you!! Love the post! I wish the weather would cooperate in metro Atlanta and the 90s would go away, the 70s would arrive, and it would start raining. Autumn is my favorite time of the year too.

I've never heard of Mabon before. I'll have to Google it! As I was saying on another blog, I always loved spring and summer the most, but autumn is fast becoming my favorite season. The temperatures are more comfortable, and I can finally turn the stove on without heating up the whole house!
Happy REDnesday and Mabon!
