Did you see that Harvest Moon last night?
Actually this one is a Super Harvest Moon, the first one to occur in 20 years. That's when the full moon of September falls on the day of the Autumnal Equinox. On such a day, the full moon is rising at the same time the sun is setting. This, according to my sources, produces a unique twilight in which the entire sky is illuminated.
I didn't know all this last evening as my sister Ramey and I were driving back from Birmingham. I only knew that the evening was beautiful and the rising full moon was a show stopper.
If you missed the view last night, don't worry. This Super Harvest Moon will put on a show all week, producing a phenomenon known as “moon illusion." What appears to be an abnormally large moon is actually an optical illusion resulting from the moon's lower than usual position in the sky. At least that's what NASA claims. I just like to enjoy the view.

I have come down with a cold. Andy caught one while we were at the beach--came down with it the last night we were there. I thought I had escaped that old bug, but it seems I caught it too.
I hope all "Criminal Minds" fans caught last night's season opener in which the evil Prince of Darkness Billy Flynn, perpetrator of a decades-long killing spree, is brought down by two girls, Special Agent Jennifer Jerau (J.J.) and Detective Spicer's young daughter Ellie, whom Billy has kidnapped.
J.J. was clearly the star of this episode, although Morgan had his moments too. The climactic scene where J.J. talks to Billy over the emergency broadcast system was actually a tear-jerker for me. It pointed out how the actions of Billy's demented mother not only destroyed Billy's life but also the lives of many other innocent people. When Billy asks Morgan if Morgan thinks Billy will get a second chance (after his death), my heart broke for him. For all the things that could have been. An example of just what horrible consequences child abuse can have.
And Billy's teeth--did you get a load of them. I couldn't stop looking at them. Eeeeew!
Good episode--but not for the faint of heart. The preview tells us that J.J. will be leaving next week. Although her job is not one for a young wife and mother, I still will not want to see her go. And I know the team will miss her. (Yes, people, I know this is fiction. But don't you know about what Coleridge called "the willing suspension of disbelief"?)
All right, I'm going downstairs now to put my house back in order after disassembling everything for the carpet cleaners yesterday. The carpet is finally dry--well mostly. Happy First Full Day of Autumn, everyone. Be sure to check out that moon tonight.

I too am a fan.Criminal minds is one of the best things TV is doing right now and yes belief is suspended for that hour and they become friends.
Here on Cape Cod the moon over the bay was an amazing sight and yes I will look forward to a week of the Harvest Moon.
Take care and keep blogging.

The moon is astonishing here, too. I didn't realize that the sun's position played a part. Interesting!
Criminal Minds was a thriller all right and Tim Curry was creepy to the max. I was in tears when JJ said that is was all right to be scared of monsters but it was not all right to become a monster and that so many citizens were shown hearing her words. I don't want JJ to leave either.
Have some good soup even if the air conditioning is still on in your house as it is here. Soup will help your cold. Be good to you as you deal with your cold symptoms and get over it.
Wishing you well! Hugs ...

I had to stay off your blog until I watched it. And I just finished (It's 10:30 am, told you it had to be in the daylight)! I really hate that's JJ's leaving...I even signed the petition to CBS to keep her...guess it didn't work! But I'll keep watching (in the daytime) 'cause I love this show!
