2nd Annual Yellow House Quilting Retreat

Retreat

For the past several years my quilting bee group has held an October quilting retreat. This year, we weren't able to come up with the minimum 12 attendees that the facility requires. So the manager caved to my whining and said they'd let the 8 of us who had signed up come. Trouble was, I had miscounted; we didn't have 8 signed up, we had only 7. I was too ashamed to whine anymore, and I don't think it would have done any good anyway; so we had to cancel.

I'll miss being with everyone at bee retreat this year; but I'm not letting this bump in the road spoil my fun. I'm going to hold the retreat anyway--right here at home in my sewing room, just me and the dogs.

This will actually be the second time I've held my own private quilting retreat. I mean officially, when everyone knew I had blocked the time off for me and would not be coming out of the sewing room for silly things like cooking, cleaning, running errands, etc.

I don't recall the exact date of the first one. I do remember that it was after Vann was diagnosed but before the battle got all consuming. He was still feeling good and getting on with life. I told him that I needed a sewing break and explained what I had planned--a private weekend sewing retreat. Vann enthusiastically agreed.

I have plenty of projects to work on at this year's Yellow House Retreat, namely the ones I started at the bee retreat last year and have never finished.

As you can see, I have a great many projects that I have started and not completed, so I won't lack for work. Oh yeah, there are also a couple of baby quilts I have to finish--SOON!

If you'd like to join me in The 2nd Annual Yellow House Quilting Retreat, just let me know and we'll make it a virtual retreat. I'll post a link to your blog if you  have one, and we can share photos and information about what we're doing throughout the retreat. The dates are Monday, October 11 through Thursday, October 14.

I'll create a button for the retreat that you can post on your blog if you care to. But right now, I have to go grocery shopping. I've put it off as long as I can.

What a great idea, Susie! I'd love to join in! Right now I have only one thing that cannot be rescheduled and that's the afternoon of the 14th.

More than a year ago when I joined in Pat Sloan's Orange Challenge virtual retreat I accomplished more in those 3 days than I dreamed I could, considering my limited spoon count. My completed project was smaller than the rest and became my Halloween wall hanging, but I was more than delighted with it.

What I'd LOVE to make progress on is a quilt for DS1 who designed the block 13 years ago and has been waiting ever since. So far, only 1 block has been made. I think I can, I think I can!

Hope you're feeling lots better.

Hugs!

Lovely projects you've got to work on, Susan. Sorry I can't join in your retreat-too many commitments with Grandchldren, but I'll quilt when I can and look forward to seeing what everyone is working on.
Hope you're feeling better.
Ruth

Sorry to hear your Bee retreat had to be cancelled but glad you're making your own! You already have a lovely name for it :) I hope you are feeling better from your cold.

You sound like you're feeling better!? I sure hope so. You have some terrific projects started. I'm sure you'll get most of them finished at your retreat. I would love to join you. I don't have a blog but I do have a quilt top that needs to be quilted. The other two quilts I'm working on are a Cathedral Windows(presently about 3 x 4ft.)and I'm just starting the Dear Jane. I don't plan on finishing them soon. I fill in with small projects so I feel like I accomplish something! Pat

I am so sorry you have been sick. I hope you are better. What a disappointment about your retreat. Good for you to carry on anyway. I hope it is very successful. It is nice that you won't have to travel farther than your sewing room. Smile. The photos of your quilts are lovely. I love the bunny one.
Happy quilting and best wishes finishing your quilt projects.

Hugs, Jeanne
