Settling In

Soph & Skip 1

Sophie has never allowed another dog on the top bunk with her. Daisy (or any other dog who visits here) knows she has to stay in the bottom bunk if she's going to share the big chair with Sophie. But not Skipper. Just like a little brother, isn't it? They pay no attention to the wishes of a big sister.  Good, patient, sweet big sister Sophie. I would never have believed she would have accepted another live-in dog the way she has accepted Skipper. She chased him through the house last night and tossed him around until he was plum give out. But he loves it.

  Soph and Skip 2

And all that stuff about Skipper not barking? He was just getting the lay of the land. Once he started barking, he won't shut up. Half the time we're inside, he's at the window growling and barking at something outside no one can see except him. But we love him, don't we Soph?

"Yeah, sure," says the Black Dog.

I'm feeling much better today. Got a good night's sleep last night and woke up with only minimal aches and pains. Maybe I'll get something done today.

It's not like I didn't accomplish anything yesterday, lying on the couch between taking the dogs out into the heat. In fact, I watched three Lifetime movies (not exactly brain food, but a harmless distraction anyway). I saw a woman marry a wonderful mystery writer who turned into a homicidal maniac, a woman who married a rich man and had to track down her husband's murderer so she wouldn't have to take the blame, and a woman whose thieving husband jumped off a bridge in San Francisco only to show up 15 years later living with another woman in Maine.

Today, I'm not even going to turn the tv on. This is a day of action. Mostly action in the sewing room. Happy Friday 13th, everyone.

Skipper is one lucky doggie, for sure. And, Sophie has to be a special doggie, also. The pictures of the two of them are great. Glad you are feeling better!

The doggies look so sweet up there! Good lil' Sophie! She is a wonderful big sister! And that sly Skipper, waiting to SURPRISE everyone with his bark! LOL! It's GREAT hearing you sound better! I've never watched any Lifetime movies but - hmmmm - maybe I SHOULD if they make you feel good! Naaaaaaw! I know what I NEED to watch to feel great: Kal Ho Naa Ho! It's my all-time FAVE Bollywood movie! Three hours worth of wonderful! (Yes, I DO have 'ecclectic' - or, go ahead & say it - WEIRD - taste in movies & music, huh?) Trouble IS, I never seem to have three hours to myself.

What cute doggie siblings! I had to laugh at your description of their interactions. The fact that Skipper has found his voice is a mixed blessing, isn't it?

Cheers that you're feeling so much better today! Fabric Friday includes any sewing room activity or even sitting to peruse a quilt book or magazine or to watch a quilting TV show. We quilters try not to be rigid and stuffy after all!

Happy Friday the 13th to you, too!

Hugs!

I was wondering about the voice back at the beginning. We got a dog at the shelter once that was so docile and shy until he also got the lay of the land!

Maybe having a companion for Sophie will alleviate her attention cravings from you a little.

Oh gosh that is the cutest picture...I love that everyone is happy together...and now with Skipper I'll bet Sophie will be getting lots of exercise and she won't be ready to run off from you!

Hi again. My little dog claims the back of the couch. My big dogs actually tried to fit but falls off because he is too big. Sounds like a crazy day of Lifetime. I am a little sick of sitting in the dark and of these headaches....still there but hoping the meds the dcot gave me will soon help. Geez, I have things I need to do. Hope you get alot done.

That is just great. I love watching dogs come accustomed to each other, establish boundaries, etc. We have a border collie and a Yorkie. When the border collie was young, she used to chase the Yorkie around until the Yorkie learned she could jump up on the back of the couch and lay there on a blanket (like Soph does) and escape the torture of being chased. Soon, the border collie learned to grab the blanket and pull it off the couch, so the Yorkie gave that up. I would often find her hiding under a desk, where the border collie was too big to get under now, when I came home from work. Her neck would be all wet from the border collie trying to play with her. Now, they are 10 (border collie) and 11 (Yorkie) and the Yorkie has firmly established dominance over the border collie. It's too funny.

What a cute story. We too had an addition to our full grown terrier who turned out to be an instigater. It's really funny to watch the little one try to get her big sister in trouble.
