Red-Hot Rednesday

Rednesday

Happy Rednesday, everyone. Seems like most photos I post these days have at least a touch of red, but here's one I don't think I've shared. I found that crocheted doily/hot pad at a thrift store or yard sale recently, I can't remember which. The center part is padded so I suppose it's intended to be a hot pad, but I wouldn't set anything very hot on it. Maybe a tea pot. I've had the bunny salt and pepper shakers for a long time and don't remember where they came from.

If you're a lover of red and can stand to see more, Sue's regular Rednesday Party is going on even now. So click on her blog link and have some fun.

Linda and Joe just left, and my house is now all sparkly clean with the exception of my office and sewing room, which I still have not finished organizing. Doesn't it make you feel good to have a freshly cleaned house? Well, it does me. I'm very lucky to be able to have housekeeping help. The chronic health problems make it very difficult for me to do the heavy cleaning chores.

Yesterday, I worked in the foyer and stairwell, hanging pictures and arranging things. Got all my bird pictures hung (photos to come). I need a few more to finish off the left side of the stairwell. Joe was admiring the pictures before he and Linda left today. His final analysis was, "You better hope no drunk comes down them stairs and knocks all them pictures down." I do so hope that never occurs.

I'm considering maybe using another theme for the right side: flowers, wildlife, landscapes, insects, trees. If I decide on wildlife, I know where I can get squirrel and deer pictures. I already have a wild turkey and a bear picture. What do you think would be a proper theme for the other side of my stairwell?

Skipper has pretty much settled in here at The Yellow House. And Sophie is being unusually patient with him. I'm hoping that someday, she'll actually play with him.

Kitchen Towel Here's a kitchen towel that my friend Maria embroidered for me. It fits right in with today's red theme, doesn't it? It looks great in my kitchen now, too, with all the other reds, yellows, greens, and blues.

The weather continues to be horrible with heat indices well over 100 degrees every day, and humidity you could boil eggs in. Neighborhood friends gathered in Paul's yard last evening for happy hour. The doggies and I went too. It was great to be with everyone. I even met a new neighbor and old friend of Vann's, Richard Z., who has recently moved to the 'hood. But the heat and humidity were more than I could take. I had to go home before anyone else. I went immediately and took a cool shower, then gathered my dogs around me and went to bed to read.

Hope everyone out there is staying cool. Did anyone see the aurora that was supposed to be visible last night in the northern U.S.?

Hi Susan, love your pretty red/white embroidered kitchen towel your friend made for you. And the red/white doily is darling :) Love the bunnies, too.
I like your idea of a cool shower and snuggling with the doggies in bed with a good book - sounds great to me ;) Our big dog, Kona, is one of the best snuggle bunnies around and is always game for a nice nap.
Happy REDnesday and I'm signing up to "follow" you :)

What a lovely kitchen towel that Maria made and it certainly suits your kitchen to a T! Well done, Maria!!!!!

Your doily and bunnies are so sweet together. I have a similar doily that is part of my earliest memories and it hangs just outside my sewing room. It's make with a turned under edge and there's a flat, stiff heavy paper metal edged hot plate between the doily and the turned under edging. You can put something hot on this one, but the heat might damage the center red rose!

Your weather and ours are so similar and it's a total bummer! It's so humid outside today you can almost swim and the high is forecast to be 98*F, with 101*F tomorrow. That's before you add in the heat index - as if we want to know that. Sigh!

Please send Linda and Joe to my house!

Happy Rednesday!

I am glad you found the crochet things. I enjoy them and all other crochet pieces. I wish I could borrow you house cleaners. They would earn their money at my house. Sorry, you have any health problems. May you receive many blessings.

Susan,
Hello to you, Sophie and Skipper! Love the towel and doily.
You could always go with botanical prints on the other side of the stairwell.
Have a great day!

I think a mixture of all your wildlife nature pics, from flowers to trees to critters, would look nice there.

The thought that a drunk would be coming down your stairs cracked me up...I needed that laugh today! Love the kitchen towel. And hopefully the dogs will be buddies soon!

Well, first let me say happy hour at a friends house is always fun! Glad you went and sorry that the ole' heat and humidity was overwhelming. I think come January you'll be wishing for a little heat.:)
Love the doily and the dish towel, what a fantastic idea to personalize one. I'll certainly remember that. Our Wal-Mart has an embroidery store.
Thanks for sharing today.
Fondly,
Ann

Susan,
Love the reds! I have lots of reds in my sewing room ... which I am reorganizing. I thought of you today as I was driving along Ziegler Road! Skipper is adorable and to think he was on that road! I love the new towel for your kitchen. I love the idea of deer and wildlife for your other wall.
Stay cool ... I know it is sooo HOT!
Hugs,
Donna

RED! My FAVORITE color! Love the doily! And your bunnies are adorable! I DO have a suggestion for the other side of your stairwell! Post an ENORMOUS banner (tastefully done, of course - perhaps a nice embroidered one) which reads: ALL DRUNKS KINDLY CLING TO THIS SIDE OF THE WALL AS YOU ASCEND/DESCEND THE STAIRS. THE BIRDS ON THE OTHER SIDE WILL ATTACK IF YOU GO OVER THERE! (BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I know, Susan. It's just WAY too early for Kai's nuttiness! Sorry! Heehee!)

Rednesday, what a great concept! The bunnies are so adorable. I have done no decorating this summer other than some patriotic items (which are still up!) so I love to come see what you're playing with.

We've been cool and cloudy all summer, hardly any warm days yet in SoCalif at the beach, so I'm sending cool and cloudy thoughts your way.
