Our Foxy Boy

Skip 1
THIS IS SKIPPER

THESE ARE GENERIC TOY SMOOTH FOX TERRIERS

Although he doesn't conform perfectly to AKC breed standards, I believe I've found Skipper's breed. He might have too much black on his body and too little brown on his cheeks to win Best of Show, but I'm pretty sure this is our boy's breed. According to information I've found, he fits the breed description to a tee in size, weight, height, length, body and head configuration, everything. So as of today, I'm officially naming him a Toy Fox Terrier and declaring him my own (unless the original owner shows up).

Welcome to our family, little man. The Yellow House is now officially your home.

Sophie played with Skipper last night. They ran through the house and tussled with each other until they were tired. Then they retired to their respective favorite roosts, Sophie on back of the chair and Skipper beside me on the couch.

Come back tomorrow to see my contributions to "Show Us Your Roosters" day, sponsored by Barb at Bella Vista.

What a lucky little fellow to have found a loving home with a now playful big sister and a wonderful Mom!

Skipper certainly does look like a Toy Fox Terrier. You're a good detective!! Do dogs of this breed bark?

When I feed our two cats, I feel Mama first so say aloud, "Here is food for Boots. Here is food for Tom." To DS1's astonishment, Tom waits his turn! He's eager, but he waits the 10 seconds or so before his food lands in his bowl. You might try that now that you're the mother of two!!

Hugs!

YES! I do believe you've got the breed spot on! He's SOOOOO cute, too! And I think the no-barking aspect ROCKS! That's what I need - a non-barking doggy! Oh, wait. That would (for ME) be a kitty! LOL! I think Skipper is the luckiest doggy ever to have you & lil' Sophie Doggy! LOVE YOU!

Sounds like that dog has found the perfect home. How nice to have a man around the house.

Skipper is a lovely dog and very lucky that you found him.

He really does look like a Toy Fox Terrier; so much so that I thought all three pictures were of him at first. Then I noticed that on the bottom two pictures his back was more white. I kept looking and thinking there is no way that he can fold himself to make the white go away, there is too much of it. All the time I am looking and trying to figure this out -- never reading the words that you have typed below -- Ha!

It is good that he and Sophie have started to play together. My husband and I had to have our Chihuahua of 8 and a half years put to sleep in 2008. We got another Chihuahua in 2009. We were so worried that she and our mini Dachshund would not get along. But they got used to each other quickly and are great freinds now.

Hi Susan, As my sister says, "You might not be looking for a dog, but a dog might be looking for you!. A match made in heaven, is what I am thinking. What a sweet boy! Best wishes and kisses to the new member of your family!

I think Skipper is adorable! I'm glad he has a safe home now. I think you are right about his breed. My grandfather had a Toy Fox Terrier--delightful little breed. Sophie has a new BFF, and it sounds like she is beginning to recognize it. LOL Enjoy!

Not all dogs who get dropped by the side of the road end up as lucky as Skipper. If his name wasn't Skipper, it should be Lucky!
