Celebrating Roosters

Rooster ButtonAll right, enough about dogs for now. Today is "Show Us Your Roosters" Day at Barb's Bella Vista blog. I have been waiting for this day for a long time and thought I knew exactly what I was going to show. Then I remembered the fabric book round robin (which in my case should have been called a Round Rooster) that I took part in with a group of fabric artists a few years ago. Everyone in the RR picked a theme, began a book, and then everyone else contributed a page for everyone else's book. I chose the theme "chickens," but mostly it turned out to be roosters.

Rooster Book 1

This is the front cover, made by me. Below is the sign-in spread, including a basket of eggs, which I made for signatures. Each artist signed and decorated an egg.

Below are two more pages that I made before I sent
my book on its rounds.

Now for the contributions from my round robin friends.

And, finally, below is the front and back of my back cover and
the case that I store the book in.

Susan,
I have really enjoyed seeing your post about the handmade book that you did with your artistic friends. It is amazing and so fully demonstrates the creativity of all involved. It was really fun to look at your photos as if I was turning the pages. What a unique idea to store it in that cute rooster case. I really liked hearing about the details.

What a wonderful idea. I've not ever participated in a round "rooster" before. ;-)
I'll have to see if I can get my friends interested in one. That would be a lot of fun.

Beautiful cloth book. I love the eggs you made for everyone to sign. I was wondering, do you have a tutorial that you followed for this book? I'd love to give it a try... but I am not so sure I could just "wing" it and do it from scratch.

Thanks so much for choosing to show this off. Perfect choice!

Happy Rooster Day,
Susan

That was neat! Was it assembled before you sent it off, or did they send in pages and you assembled it later?

On 08/09/2010, Stephanie said ...

That is fun. Did you assemble the book first, or after the pages had all been returned?
