Knock, knock. May I come in and visit for a while?
That's an iron door knocker in the photo. I found it recently in some of my treasure hunting. It has screws included so I can attach it to my door if I like. I might do that after I've painted my front door red.
I worked for a couple of hours in the sewing room yesterday. I know I accomplished a lot, although it isn't evident yet by the looks of the room. But I have learned throughout this home makeover process that progress sometimes takes a while to become noticeable.
In the afternoon I went grocery shopping, one of my most hated chores. And so to make the task as little more fun, I stopped off at Home Goods to see what they had on their sale shelves. I found a pretty shabby chic birdhouse that looks great in my dining room. I'll photograph it and show you after I decide how I'm going to display it.
We got rain yesterday, about 35 minutes of it. I think this is the first rain our neighborhood has had since sometime in June.
I think I'll spend some more time in the sewing room today. I have some ideas for a display on the long wall in there. It came to me yesterday while I was unpacking all the boxes and bins I had packed up before the painting. Something along the lines of the photo at left that I lifted from the Purl Bee blog.
My wall is very long, like probably 20 feet or more. I have been collecting embroidery hoops and have a drawer full, but I think I'll need more. Just the cheap wooden kind. If you have any you want to get rid of, I might take them off your hands.
Wouldn't this be a great way to show off some of my fabric stash. I'll never live long enough to sew it all into quilts and projects. This requires no sewing, just some scissors and a hot glue gun.
I'm linking to Beverly's Pink Saturday Party at How Sweet the Sound. So pour yourself another cup of coffee or tea and hop on over there and enjoy some of the pinkness.
Sophie and Skipper asked me to tell you Woof!

Hi there!
Your new door knocker is so pretty and will look wonderful on your red front door!
Those fabric-filled embroidery hoops are wonderful! I love my stash fabrics so much and wish I could see more of the various patterns and this is the way to accomplish that. Now I need a display wall for them! Did you know I have a tiny sewing room?
Does your sewing room have a large design wall already? If not, I'd use a good part of that 20' wall for that purpose and you can imagine me drooling in perma-envy. As I mentioned, my sewing room is so small that my folding design wall has to be taken down when I'm not in dire need of it.
Your work in your sewing room will show up soon and isn't it a delight to unearth long-packed treasures?
AMIL and I have made peach jam again this morning and it's so pretty - and delicious!
Woof back to Sophie and Skipper!
Hugs!

GREAT KNOCKERS! Uh - sorry. Couldn't help myself. That's a beautiful DOOR knocker. (I've GOT to quit drinking so much coffee. I think it affects ME like alcohol affects others. LOL!) That's a great idea for displaying fabric! My newly refurbished craft area already shows signs of messiness. SIGH. I guess if I'd stop BUYING stuff it wouldn't, huh? Yours is going to be beautiful!

The fabric display is just a super idea. Guess you would need lots of hoops. If I come across some and you go ahead with the idea, I'll try to contribute. I went to our local quilt show today - lots of lovely ones and a few vendors. One was entirely Amy Butler fabrics but I liked two of the really vivid colorations the best. Our weather is perfect before the humidity returns, so they had a great turnout and will continue tomorrow. Skipper is a doll - hope he'll stay in the family.

OOh, I do love that wall! What a fantastic idea to display pretty fabric. We just went to the grocery earlier today. Won't go back for at least a week except for fruit. (There was the tedious chaotic atmosphere of back-to-school shopping...)

Hi Susan :) I've been MIA again and was sooooooooo surprised to see "Skipper!!!" What a cutie pie he is and I can certainly understand why you wanna keep him. It was so kind of you to "foster" him and I'll be hoping that it definitely turns into an "adoption :)" He is a keeper!!!
Oh and what a beautiful way to decorate a wall!!! :)

Or fabric you barely have the heart to cut into because you love it so much! What a great way to keep some of the stash you have a hard time parting with!

Terrific idea! I've got the fabric stash, now all I need is a little wall space. LOL I'm enjoying my visits to Blackberry Creek Home Arts.
