The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful

The Excellent Beginning

Bee 1

Bee 2

  Bee 3

My Monday started out fine enough. I attended my quilting bee meeting at the lovely home of my friend Cindy M. Oh what a feast she had prepared for us! A brunch to write home about--or to blog about, as the case may be. Baked blueberry french toast, blueberry squares, quiche lorraine, fresh fruit, and sausage and cheese biscuits.

On my way home from bee, I made a stop at Hobby Lobby. The nice young man in the framing department was able to replace the glass and reframe my print in no time flat--for only $34. Counting the stuff I bought at Wal-Mart that didn't work, that $10 print has now cost me close to $60. But it sure is pretty. I'll show it in situ later.

The Rest of the Story

Later on in the afternoon, daughter Andy and I had an early dinner at Cracker Barrel, southern fried catfish and veggies. On the way home we stopped by the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions. That's when the fun ended.

The pharmacy girl first told Andy (she had gone in to pick up the meds) that they couldn't be filled until the 7th. What? I had received a courtesy call that the 'scripts were ready to be picked up. So I went in and confronted this child, who immediately gave me off to someone else, the prettiest little blonde girl in the world with a brain the size of a sunflower seed.

This one told me that...well, you know, I'm not sure what she told me. Honestly! Something about a number and medicaid, and not being in the system. She took my Blue Cross card and looked at it like she'd never seen one before, then gave it to the pharmacist. The expression on his face as he examined my card was no more reassuring than the blonde's had been. He said, "This isn't a medicaid card, it's Blue Cross. OF ALABAMA!" (That Alabama part seemed to have some kind of significance to the pharmacist; he said that several times.) The little blonde took my card back and made a call, which took a very long time, then gave me another confusing spiel. The pharmacist didn't seem interested at all by this time; he seemed to have already forgotten the "of ALABAMA" part.

I finally got so irritated and frustrated that I left. On the way home, I called Blue Cross Blue Shield OF ALABAMA! The rep took my number, looked up my record, and told me that my policy was currently in effect. "I know that," I told her. But the pharmacy doesn't seem to. I called the pharmacy back and got a promise that they would let me know when they had the problem straightened out. No call.

I telephone the pharmacy again this morning and, can you believe it, got our same little blonde pea brain. This time she told me she had not been able to make the call yet because BCBS was closed. (Big heavy hopeless sigh from me.) She promised to make the call immediately and call me back. A couple of hours ago, she said all this. No call yet. Do you think it might be time to transfer my pharmacy business someplace else?

More Excellent Stuff

Not to end on a sour note, I decided to show a few of my recent acquisitions for The Yellow House. I got most of them at bargain prices, all except for the fabric, but we won't talk about that.

Thrifts 3

A sweet Hobby Lobby birdie, $.80 after discount.

Thrifts 6
Another vintage lamp from the thrift store.

Thrifts 4
Another Hobby Lobby bargain shelf find.

Thrifts 1
A perfect Edwin M. Knowles platter from the thrift store.

Thrifts 5
29 cents each from thrift store.

Thrifts 2
This beautiful toile fabric on which the cheap little birdie sits was not a bargain. But knowing my color scheme, would you have had me pass it up? I'm going to use it to make a valance to go over the window and under the shelf in my dining room. And/or back the shelves in my hutch. I might even go back and get more to cover my dining room chairs.

and this is why my pharmacist hubby doesn't work retail...He wouldn't have been any better than that little blonde with the sunflower seed brain. However, he is VERY good at what he does do, so it's ok...lol

It might be time to transfer scripts if you have this problem all the time...or you don't get a prompt return call. Customer Service should be first and foremost for a small business and they should know why you transferred your script...

I use Medicine Shoppe because they are a locally run pharmacy in my town. I lost two full prescription bottles last month. Gone, vanished, never to be seen again.. I called and they were nice enough to sell me just enough pills to get by until my insurance would cover the scripts again. It cost me a bundle, but it was my fault and they did make two phone calls to try to get insurance to cover them. Alas, I don't carry Lost/Stolen coverage...lol who knew? Well, I have blathered on long enough...hopefully by now you have had a phone call... See, I was just distracting you...

Unbelievable! I would transfer my scripts post haste and let the pharmacy who screwed up know why. The fact that the pharmacist refused to be of real help is inexcusable. If you must return there, I'd stand in front of them and call BC of AL, then hand the pea brains the phone!

Love your wonderful treasures, especially the lamp but then, lamps are one of my weaknesses. Cheers that your framed print again has intact glass! It's still a bargain!

The quilts are lovely and Cindy's menu is making my mouth water. So glad you were well fortified before the aggravations began.

Hugs!

I love the turquoise/brown charm square (nine patch?) top, the colours are gorgeous together.

Your tale of the pharmacy sounds very frustrating, is this where you usually get your scripts filled, or are you trying somewhere new? They sound like a dead loss to me, if you have an alternative I wouldn't bother with them again!

I love all the quilts - please tell the gals they do excellent work. Your cheap finds look interesting, I love the lamp. Don't know if you can in the US, but here in Canada, we can just have a new pharmacy call over and have your prescriptions transferred over. They don't even have to be in the same chain. Have a good week.

I love the toile. Isn't it aggravating when dealing with insurance, doctors and the pharmacy. UUUGGGHH!
