First me. I felt like I was getting a little too much for my money when I heard Gwen's scissors continue to snip away on the back of my head long after she should have been done. I should have yelled "STOP!" but I didn't. So I came out looking like I went in for a Peter Pan cut instead of a trim.
The picture at right was taken this afternoon after I had sweated off all my makeup and part of my epidermis during some yard sale visits this morning in the horrible heat and humidity. My hair looks even shorter since it's plastered to my head. As you can see, all the hair color is now cut away. That's my true color you see there, folks.
Soon after returning from my appointment with the clippers yesterday afternoon, Sophie's groomer Diane arrived and did likewise to my girl. I know she's a lot more comfortable with her bushy coat sheared down. Me, I can't tell all that much difference. I think if I were bald and naked, I'd still be suffering heat debilitation. This weather is not fit for humans or dogs--or anything else.
Yesterday, I rescued a baby snake from the street. He could barely move, so I got a big leaf and scooped him up and took him over to the shaded lot across the street. I don't know what kind of snake he was, except a hot one. I hope he survived, unless he was a rattle snake baby.
I've had this angel plaque (below) hanging on the living room wall for several years. As part of my makeover, I wanted to hang it on my fireplace, but had not the first clue how to go about hanging something from brick. So I asked my friend Paul, who grabbed his drill, bits, and screws and came right over and had the angel hanging from the brick in two shakes of a lamb's tail (a sheared lamb). I love it there.
Late this afternoon, after we visited with Paul and Karen for a while, I watched the movie "The Book of Eli." It's a wonderful movie, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I think it would even be good for church groups if it weren't for the bad guys' offensive language. Denzel Washington does a magnificent job of playing Eli. And it was great seeing Jennifer Beals as Solara's mother, Claudia. Not for young children; in addition to the language, it might scare them. Viewer discretion for teenagers.
The best thing I can find on tv tonight is "Scary Movie 4," so I'm going to bed to read. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I love the haircut and the natural color! Also love the Angel on your fireplace. It is perfect there. I'm glad you like the movie. I thought you would. Stay cool! See you soon.

I LOVE your hair!!! If you decide to color it, go really light instead of golden blonde. The lightness shows off your eyes.
What color was the snake? If it was bright orange it may have been a copperhead baby. Chances are it was harmless though.

ps, I'm going to look at hotels next week. Do you know of any that are near a Cracker Barrel? Or do you have a better favorite breakfast place on the east side of B'ham?

I too like the natural color. I say we earned those grays, we should wear them with pride. I do! The angel plaque looks great.
I'll be thinking cool thoughts for you! Take care.

Love your new "do"!!!!!!!! Just the hair cut every Southern woman would love to have. Your actual hair color is lovely, too!
Which room is Sophie in with the yellow chair and which quilt do I see peeking out? Is it a Lone Star??
Your angel couldn't look more perfect in any other location. Well done, Paul!
Okay, 'fess up! What treasure(s) did you find while braving the yard sales despite the sweltering heat and humidity?
Hugs!

FYI...baby snakes bad....we had mother snake in the yard last night..she was a black snake, I left her alone, not because I wanted to but Andrew said she could stay cause I already killed one of her babies last week...I know snakes are God's creatures but...yuck...

So glad you and Ramey stopped by today at our yard sale. Wish I had had a chance to visit with you a little bit more. The haircut looks great. I wish mine had been cut shorter this last time.

Susan, I love your hairstyle! It's cute, the colour suits your complexion - and I think that you look gamine (as we in Europe would say!) there's a hint of Audrey Hepburn in there! In the summer heat short hair is also way more comfortable too! Looking good!!!!

Just stunning, darlin'! You should definitely keep your hair short and botherfree.

Luv your hair cut and the colour. I'm all for natural hi-lights, and apparently gray or white ise "in".
Sorry that Canada isn't closer or I would come to Ramey's reading.

Your haircut is cute and love the color! Thanks for the movie recommendation. It's hot here, too. No rain to speak of since 6/9!

When I first looked at the picture of you I thought another daughter had come to visit! Very flattering and age reducing. Points for you racked up in heaven for saving one of God's creatures.

This happened to me not long ago. Why do hairdresser insist on cutting hair so short especially when they know how you like to wear your hair. Brush it a lot Susan, that helps it grow faster.
Your doggie is so pretty with her new do and I am looking forward to watching The Book of Eli.
Have a great week :)

Love your hair !!!!
The angel plaque is so pretty, I never noticed it on the walls before.
It's hot and HUMID here, too. Today at 8:00 am it was 82 degrees. Humidity Friday was 96%, temp was 102 !! We have students graduating this week from Police Academy and they're trying to do their driving exercises in all this heat, including the instructors. And I'm sooooo thankful I'm in my office......stay cool !!

As a hairdresser-friend once told me, ladies with pretty faces don't need long hair! Your haircut is adorable, and suits you very well.
I wish my hair looked so cute when I'm a hot, sweaty, miserable mess.

Your haircut is adorable! Remember, Peter Pan never grew up...Stayed young always. That's what this does for you. I love the angel on the fireplace. Very creative and right where it belongs.
