Missing My Fabrics

Heart Just had to show you this heart that formed from grass clippings that fell out from under the lawnmower after Jesse parked it in the basement last week.

Now, about that fabric:
I'm loving my house. It's really shaping up the way I want it to be. Cozy, comfy, whimsical, cottagy. But I miss sewing and quilting. I haven't worked with fabric since I began this time-consuming GYHEM. I have accomplished much, but much remains to be accomplished. And I just don't think I can stay away from my fabric projects any longer.

So starting right away, I'm going back to my sewing room. Oh, that doesn't mean I'm giving up on the GYHEM. Mai non! It only means that I'm putting sewing back in my life. The redecorating will still get done, but there will be frequent breaks, at least one day a week, when I pay attention to my sewing projects.

GOT ROOSTERS?

Rooster Button One of my favorite blogs is Barb's Bella Vista. I love Barb's sweet cottage decor, and I'll bet you will too if you haven't already discovered Bella Vista.

Barb is holding a Rooster Blog Party in August, and I have joined. I loved roosters. I don't have a huge collection, but I do have a few here and there in The Yellow House. Barb says you only have to have one rooster to join the fun. So if you'd like to show off you roosters to other bloggers (whether they're ceramic, pictures, fabric, dishes, or whatever), click on this link and read all about the Show Us Your Roosters Blog Party, August 6.

Got get to gettin' now. Last Friday at the WOW bake sale, I promised a hummingbird cake to be ready this Friday. I'm going to bake it this afternoon to give time for its flavors to mingle and the beaks to settle to the bottom. :-)

I understand exactly. I thought I might take the summer off from quilting but the other day I pulled some fabrics for an idea.

Awwwwwwww... sniffle, sniff! A heart shaped love note from beyond just for you! How sweet is that?

I'm so happy to hear how pleased you are with the delightful decorative changes you've made in your home! Life is all about balance. Now it's time to turn your attention back to the joy of fabrics, sewing, and imagining what project to work on or what to begin next! Enjoy yourself!

Bookmarking that cake recipe right now!

Hugs!

Your grass clippings are a sign from Vann - but you probably already thought of that, didn't you...

I'm glad to hear you're getting back to your sewing. I know how much you enjoy it, and you make such beautiful things!
I just got some yardage of knit fabric and cut out two tops for the fall this morning. Pinning and cutting is not my favorite thing to do, so I'm glad when I have that out of the way.

Oh, isn't it cool when something is just a SURPRISE in the form of art? Love that you have a straw heart! LOL! And though I don't have any to show, I'm going to go LOOK at everyone's roosters! As for your need to make something from your fabrics, I SO get that! My yarn whispers to me each time I come in here! Finally, yum to that hummingbird cake! I am no baker - trust me - but I saw the LAST one you made and it looked delicious!

I've been doing a little remodeling here - well, a construction company has been doing the work, but that's beside the point. My den is getting new walls, new ceiling textured, so there was demolition, and dry-walling mess, and etcetera. While all this was going on, I retreated back to the sunroom where my sewing room is, as that is the only space right now in my house that is "normal" and you'd be amazed at the amt. of things I've worked on and finished up - and started, in an attempt to stay out of their way!

Awesome about the little grass heart - and, I also would take it as a sign from Vann.

I too have a rooster - rooster cookie jar that sits on top of my china hutch - always meant to get him a little speckled hen, but haven't yet.

I'm feeling you on missing the fabric! I just moved 500 miles away and am now living in my parent's spare room. I miss my sewing space and my fabric!! I set up my sewing machine at the dining room table today and felt right at home again! Quilters should get an extra couple hours in their days!
