Hacked Off!

Wed2

I'm from the South. One thing we hold dear in the South is niceness and manners. (At least that's the myth we perpetrate.) So I ask whoever the entity was who hacked into my email address book and sent everyone in there a link to a viagra ad: "Why can't you play nice?" It's rude to steal from other people. You don't borrow without asking first.

Many of you reading this received that viagra link. Please discard it (unless you need it) and accept my apologies for the inconvenience. I have never had my computer hacked before. I feel very violated, but mostly just ticked off that people do this kind of thing. There is very little integrity and honesty in the business world any more, is there?

Don't have much else to blog about today. I'm moving slowly this morning, resisting getting on with the chores that need doing--like finishing up my laundry that I started yesterday. Plus there are pictures that need hanging, and the whole second floor (office, sewing room, and guest room) are yet to be straightened up and organized from the painting.

Thanks for all your comments on my photos yesterday. It is very much a good feeling to have all that done. I love sitting in my living room and just being here. I think Sophie does too, as you can see from her photo yesterday. That's where she is right now, as a matter of fact.

I'm shamed to admit that I'm still in my pajamas. So I'm going now to put on some daytime clothes, make the bed, and do another load of laundry. Probably won't make it to the upstairs work today though.

My email account was hacked a couple of months ago. There were viagra and porn ads that went out under my name. It was most dreadful! I am in the education business and it went out to all former and current co-workers. Very dreadful! The only good thing about it was I got back in touch with a friend who I had not talked to in years b/c we were joking about the ads! I changed my password and the hacking stopped! Good luck!

Hi Susan,

How horrible to have this happen from your email address BUT my techie 26 year old son says this is unlikely to be from an individual who did this directly to you. Rather, someone along the line opened an odd email that was infected with a virus that automatically sends the Viagra ad to all in that address book and that attaches itself to outgoing emails and can infect the computers of those who receive those emails and open them. If you don't open strange or odd emails, you cannot be infected. The infected email you received was probably from an unsuspecting friend and it looked perfectly normal - and was, except for this stowaway virus. DS2 says you need a professional to rid your computer of this virus.

Into every happy life, jammie days should come. It's okay if this is one for you! Enjoy! Besides, your upstairs rooms will wait for you to be more inclined to get them sorted (yeh, too much BBC!!!).

Hugs!

Heck, I stay in my pajamas all day sometimes, just for fun. You deserve a relaxing day. I hate it when people hack into your computer. Very much dislike...

Sorry to hear you were hacked Susan. The server my blog is on was hacked by the Turkish Martyrs (whoever they might be) a couple of weeks ago and it was such a pain to get it all sorted out again. It really makes you wonder what sort of weird people are out there doing all this stuff. The world would be a much better place if they put their time and energy into something constructive rather than just annoying and inconveniencing the likes of you and me.
Have a good quiet day - sometimes those are just the best! Rock on PJ days!!!

I've received the same email from 2 other people in my address book today so apparently you are in the same boat as others. It's a pain but we know you didn't send it intentionally.

My guess is it is a virus and not a hack job.

That's a bummer. You have to wonder what kind of miserable little lives these people live that they have to get their pleasure through doing something like that.

My brother had his computer hacked a few months back - an email was sent out to all on his email list asking to send 2500 dollars as he was stranded, etc. They also deleted or stoled all the addresses.
