I had a fine day yesterday. Three of our dearest friends from our old Progressive Farmer days, Kim A., Jim P., and LuAnn S., came out to Leeds and took me to lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant, El Cazador. I think it is now their favorite restaurant too, especially Jim, a real Mexican food connoisseur. We had a joyous time eating, laughing, and talking--and of course reminiscing about Vann. Thank you, guys, for a great visit.
Then it was on to the eye doctor for my annual check-up. I found out why I can't see very well these days. I need new glasses. Should have them in a few days. (This is not a one-hour place.)
Now I just want to show a few photos of the GYHEM progress thus far. Things a still a little sparse in places (and junky in others). I've hung hardly any wall art yet. But I'm so glad that the progress is at least such that I can show a few pictures.
A pretty new bookmarker from Wendy, a blogging friend from across the pond. Thanks, Wendy. You know how much I love the little hummers.
"Country Garden" sampler stitched by my mama, Mary Ramey, about 1990.
A quilt by me (bottom) and a quilt by Nicole (top).
A new addition: I got the "Home Sweet Home" plaque at Home Goods.
I just had to show you my new ironing board cover, from Hestia Houseworks. I just love it so much that I think I'm going to leave my ironing board up all the time. On the kitchen wall behind the ironing board is where my chicken quilt will hang, someday soon I hope.
And finally, Sophie says, "Hi."

Oh! Where to begin?!
The photos, one and all, are wonderful and I love how you've decorated each and every area shown. The new dining room is beautiful! Applause, applause!!!!
The Country Garden sampler your mother made is a treasure. I've know that sweet little verse for so long I have no idea when or where I first heard it.
The bookmark Wendy made is lovely and so special!
I think I've never seen such a happy ironing board cover. I may have to have one for me and one for AMIL!
Hi to Sophie!
Hugs!
p.s. we got rain last night! Thanks be to God!!

The room looks great, Sue, that pink on the walls is just right--so subtle, so perfect. Sophie seems to like it just fine. I covet that ironing board cover!

Oh Susan, it's looking so pretty!! And the ironing board cover would make me want to iron! I have a sewing basket just like the one in your picture. It was my husband's grandmother's and I treasure it. It had her sewing notions inside when it was given to me. You should be very proud of the way things are coming together in your home. Your hard work is definitely paying off. I think cooler weather is in store for us. Hope it comes your way too. We've broken records here in SC.

I had that cross stitch pattern for years thinking I would stitch it. It's now gone but I am happy to see that someone loves it too and it is on display.
Everything is looking like a woman's castle!

Don't you laugh, but I have TEARS in my silly old eyes! That Yellow House is looking just incredibly warm, welcoming, and GORGEOUS! You have done a marvelous job putting things together without being all matchy-matchy! Everything is COMPANIONABLE! I love it! And that ironing board cover? WOW! Who WOULDN'T want to iron on those red dots? But I need to know, please - where does one purchase that charming piece of fuzzy decor in the last photo? I think you called it a 'Sophie'???? LOVE YOU!

It looks so lovely Susan- I love Sophie relaxing at the end.
I just wanted to let you know that your beautiful wall hanging has safely arrived at my home here in Edmonton.
I am still thinking about where I will hang it but the bunny is so handsome. It made me smile as soon as I saw this long box.
Thank you for sending such a gorgeous gift-
Warmest regards,
Anna

So so pretty! I really like your new dining room furniture with its carved details. You have a good eye for vignettes without overdoing. Editing is so hard, isn't it? I always like to have my mom come over and tell me what I should "take out" of my groupings.
Glad you had a wonderful outing with old friends who knew you and Vann both.
