"Pregnant!" --Blanche Deveraux
I think this hot weather has fried my brain. I completely forgot to blog about our book club meeting on Friday, which was attended by Noah's Wife author T.K. Thorne.
This was one of the best meetings we've had. Ms. Thorne is not only a talented author and researcher, she is also a very interesting speaker. She knows so much about ancient history and myths, especially those of the middle east where the Noah story takes place.
I'm embarrassed to say that I had not read the book when we had our meeting. But I got my autographed copy and began reading it right away. I have read about half of the book now, and can already recommend it as a very good one. Just remember that it's historical fiction (the stress being on fiction), and don't expect it to be strictly Biblical.
This is going to be a busy day of cleaning. Linda is here doing the heavy household chores (mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, etc.,) that I have a hard time with. And this afternoon, Paul and Gene (good neighbors) are coming over and we'll work in the basement getting some more of Vann's ages-old junk discarded. I want to eventually be able to move my little pickup truck into the garage and also have a lot more usable storage space for projects, seasonal things, and the like.
My friend, Blogless Barbara, pointed out to me that the bird nest on my front porch is heart shaped. I can't believe I didn't notice that. Did you? Sure have been lots of hearts showing up around here lately. Last night, I noticed one in the scrollwork of my fire screen. If you don't believe in messages from the other side, I'm sorry. I do.
I saw the baby birdies sticking their heads up again yesterday. They're growing. Jesse had come by to cut my grass, and he got to see them too. I'm going to try to get a picture of them today maybe. I just can't risk getting too close to the nest that the mama bird won't come back.
The weather is still oppressively hot and humid here. I dream of October, soft flannel jammies, sipping a hot mug of Earl Grey, and snuggling on the couch with Sophie under a quilt, reading a good book or watching a movie.

Going backwards (Which other way WOULD goofy Kai go? Sigh!) I DID notice the nest was heart shaped! And you are soooooo getting things done at your house, lil' Susan! BRAVO! Just remember to rest, too! Finally, I wish I'd been at that book club meeting! I'm going to check out that book at Barnes & Noble tomorrow!

When the garage is cleaned out, I feel my job will be done with the house. So glad you have friends to help you with that. And they must be REALLY good friends to work in this heat!

Oh, I am so envious of your basement space that can be used for seasonal storage. I yearn for such a place since I have many seasonal items that I schlep to the barn and back. It would be lovely to have them in the house, just down a flight of steps! Color me a sweet shade of green, my friend!
Cheers for those who help us clean!!!!!!
I shall look for "Noah's Wife!"
Hugs!

I am looking forward to late autumn too. This summer has just been miserable here in the south. Endless days of temps in the 90s and high humidity. Such a sweet bird nest :)

I was just watching the news. The weather forecast for Atlanta is actually "hot and oppressive"
I love Fall and I will be SO happy to see it arrive!

Thanks so much for putting this on your blog. I really enjoyed meeting with your book club--great questions and lovely folks.
Barbara,
You can find the book online (Amazon, etc.) or locally at Alabama Booksmith, Little Professor or Reed Books downtown. Thanks!
(PS You can read the first chapter and view the trailer at my site - www.tkthorne.com)
