...this is what happens to your newly beautified chair. All covered up with quilts and throws so the dog can't transfer bits of everything she picks up on her daily chipmunk/squirrel/lizard hunts to the new slipcover.
I had visions of me sitting in that chair, sans all the quilts, glass of wine in one hand, latest book in the other. Feeling like a lady of leisure. Not gonna happen. Soph has adopted it for her own. But that's ok. When you love a dog, you'll put up with a lot.
The weather here still feels like a vacation in hell. Outside for 15 minutes or so necessitates a shower, or at the very least, a change to dry clothes when you come inside.
What's up with this weather? Five snow days this past winter (unheard of in Leeds, Alabama) then the hottest, stickiest June I can ever remember. Could it be true? Is earth's climate really changing like the scientists have been trying to tell us?
I was able to stay outside with Sophie long enough yesterday to snap a couple of shots of blooming things.
Movie night last night. While Sophie lounged in the new chair, I watched "Shutter Island" and "Edge of Darkness." Two very good and exciting movies. I recommend them both. But there's language and violence in both. So not for the kiddies, ok?
Still haven't heard from the results of last week's MRI. Had bad pain last night after being on my feet for several hours doing some needed shopping and running of errands. Not sure if it was the back problem or the fibro or both. Much better this morning, though. Maybe I can get a few things transferred to the basement or hang a few pictures today. No outside work (although there's lots needs doing) for sure. We did have a nice shower yesterday afternoon. Maybe we'll get another today.
Thanks for all your comments and congratulations on the publication of my sister Ramey's first novel. My other sister Joanne has written a couple of novels too. I guess it's time I got to work and showed I can do it too--although truth to tell, I'd much rather read them than write them. Writing is a lot of hard work.

My living room furniture has beach towels on the seats just for this reason - pet fur and dirt a la cats. Sigh! At least the covers can be whisked off when company comes...
You've made me wish my white Althea was pink and I love the hydrangea. I cannot seem to grow hydrangea and I want to! Sun? Shade?
I'm glad you're feeling better today. Stay cool and out of that humidity. Love the South in the summer, but as you say, this is too much heat/humidity too early!
Be good to you! Hugs!

When we head to bed or to work all the cushions go up and stools get put up on the couch and chairs...our golden retriever thinks she owns the furniture...they are rotten but we love them...

I always kind of envied you the heat down there in the south - and the predictability of hot summer days, which we certainly don't have. Now I'm not sure what's worse - perpetual rain like we seem to be having this summer or hot, sticky and clammy like you are having to put up with. :)

oh boy, doesn't Sophie look sooooo comfy on that chair, I'm sure it would have been a great place for you to sit with your book and vino LOL! Maybe you should get another one ...

What do you mean get down to work and write a novel!! I drop by everyday and read the next chapter in Blackberry Creek....the best thing about your novel, I'm not sad when I finish it, there's always more!

I also have towels over all my chairs, sofas etc. as my cat Maggie always likes the best seat in the house!
Your blogs could very easily become a book, as you write so well and have lots of interesting things to share.

You seriously need to move to my neck of the woods, NH. Today it is a glorious 75 degrees with NO humidity. Heaven!

ONE WORD FOR SOPHIE: IRRESITIBLE! Of COURSE she gets to take over the pretty new chair. LOL! But tell her Aunty Kai says she has to be good & share it with Mama! I hope the MRI provides an easily FIXABLE answer to the pain. I will be out of commission for a few days starting tomorrow. Some complications showed up in the tests I took. Sigh. (Oh, to be HEALTHY again!) Here, the heat is equally brutal, and the plants are appreciating it a LOT more than the humans are! Your plants are just beautiful! I looked for Ramey's book today & was told it's not yet officially out but I can pre-order it. So I DID! When you DO write your novel, I will be first in line to buy a copy!

Who wouldn't love that comfy chair! You have the hot sticky weather...we have the hot dry stuff. I'm wilting! Beautiful hygranga!

The flowers are so beautiful. Seems the hot weather doesn't bother them. We had a good rain this afternoon, my garden needed it. Sophie looks so content with her new place to lounge, maybe she will share with mama every now and then. Glad you are feeling better and hope you have had a blessed day.

Your hydrangea bush looks wonderful. Your dog Sophie looks comfy on her new chair!

Dogs rule our house also, them and my mechanic men in the family. I keep our furniture covered, I figure at least I can take them off for company.
Your Rose of Sharon looks nice and full - how old is the bush, mine isn't that full.
Have a restful day.

Yes, we do love our dogs. Give 'em the shirt off our back. I saw Shutter Island the other night...thought it strange, hard to figure out. Good nail-biter, though.

I believe that Sophie thinks that chair is for her. She looks so comfortable. I think you need to get another one for you. LOL Yes, the things we do for love!
Sorry to hear that you have been feeling under the weather. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Love your Rose of Sharon and hydrangea. It's really humid here, too. Working outside is like having a free sauna.

Dogs do have a tendency to do that, don't they?!
