Tea Set Lamp

Anth Lamp I saw this lamp on the Anthropolgie website and fell in love with it. However, when I saw it's price tag, I knew this was likely to become an unrequited love. $198 for one lamp definitely does not fit my budget.

I checked Ebay, thinking perhaps there would be one there that I could snap up at a bargain. Didn't happen. So I started searching the internet for tea set lamps that I might could afford. I found these.

Although I didn't find any other tea set lamps for sale, the one in the last photo did include instructions for making your own. So that's what I've decided to do. All I have to do now is find just the right dishes. I want white. I think. Or maybe red transferware. Or maybe a combination of the two.

Cute, cute, cute!!!! I love the idea of making your own lamp because then it will be all about your choices in pattern and color. What could be better than that?! Do you know someone who can drill the needed holes in the china for you? Happy hunting!!!!!

I have a teapot lamp that's very whimsical and it's still in the box. In my new mode of USE IT, I think I'll clean off the far end of my cutting table (a daunting prospect) and put that lamp there. Perhaps I'll put it on the chest of drawers that faces my shelved stash to illuminate that area for my occasional fabric searches. Thanks for getting the wheels turning!

Hugs!

I LOVE that lamp!! I have a birthday coming up, that would be my choice for the perfect present, but I don't have anyplace to set it! It will go perfect in your house, good luck with making it yourself!

Ohhhhh I love those !! Be sure to show your work in progress ... I like the idea of the red transferware.

Wouldn't that be adorable in transfer ware? I will be watching your progress with this one with great interest. I think the mixed china lamps are fun too, but can't get the idea of one done in Blue Willow out of my mind.

How extraordinary! I've never ever seen anything like these lamps - ever! Susan, for you I think it just has to be in red transferware. Don't you think that would just be so perfect! What fun - I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I love the ones with color. Great idea to build your own. I'm sure a thrift store hunt would yield the necessary pots and cups. FUN!

This is THE cutest thing! I know there is a drill bit for use on plates. I have a friend who put a cup and saucer on bookends and it was so sweet. Want to see the finished project.

Hi Susan!!! Hope you're doing well. Sorry I've been so out of touch lately. I've just been really busy and haven't had much time on the computer.
I love those lamps and have admit that I have never seen them before. Who would have thought that a lamp base made from dishes could look so beautiful. Good luck in your quest to find the perfect ones for your lamp.
Big hugs for you and sweet Sophie.
Alolha!

I've never seen anything like those! I need a little lamp for my desk, so maybe I'll hunt one down for myself. They're really cute!
BTW, still haven't found the wire or the check. But Dr. A says if I don't find it soon, she'll write me another one. It's a benefit of working for a nice doctor in a really, really small office--just the two of us. I go back again next Monday, so if I haven't found it over the weekend, I'll get a new one.
BTW, I don't have trouble giving away books, either. I think they should be circulated rather than gathering dust on a shelf.
