This is really not Elvis; it's my friend Bonnie. Bonnie is currently in ICU with an anuerysm on her aortic valve. She's in Virginia and I can't visit her right now. Bonnie and I were next-door neighbors all through our teenage years. We were in the same high school graduating class. I've never had a better friend, and I'm very worried about her. All prayers appreciated.
Otherwise, it's just a normal day in the Extreme Makeover at The Yellow House. The painters finished up and cleared out yesterday and now it's my turn. Where do I start? I have lots of do-dads and falderal that are going to be stored in the basement. You know--dishes, tea pots, framed art, etc. These are things that I don't want to get totally rid of. I want them available for future decor changes. But I don't want them in my way.
Vann had installed worlds of cabinets in the basement. So now all I have to do is finish removing all his do-dads and falderal and I'll have room to store mine.
Meanwhile, my valance fabric arrived yesterday.
...as did my new toy, my Black & Decker Alligator.
I got my brand new 'gator for $4.97. That's because I had accumulated enough reward points on my Amazon Visa to pay all but the $4.97, plus I got free shipping. Don't you love it when you score a super bargain?
No time to try him out today though. I first have to read the instruction book. That was always a rule of Vann's anytime we got a new piece of equipment. My inclination is to learn by doing, but he always insisted on "reading the book."
But actually I don't even have time to read the book today. I have a hair cutting appointment this morning and book club this afternoon. And, woe is me, I've only read half (or a little more) or the book. It's The Elegance of the Hedgehog, which may actually be one of the boringest books I've ever tried to read. I think it's the writing, which is cumbersome. Sentences containing 100 words and more have no place in my reading materials.
Speaking of reading, the recharging cord for my Kindle has been misplaced in mayhem that is now my house. Every time I turn on the Kindle to read, I get a message to recharge. I'm into a good story, Thawing Eden, which has no 100-word sentences, and would like to continue reading, which I won't be able to do if I don't find my cord.
To end this somewhat rambling post, I have pics of the Fairy Garden. It's still a bit rumpled from having been tumped over (by me) when I went to place it on it's little bench. But it's looking better as it's plants recover from the trauma.
And this is Cricket. He isn't part of the Fairy Garden, just a precious little doxie boy that caused a commotion here at The Yellow House on Tuesday.

Susan, I will definitely pray for your Bonnie.
Your fairy garden is adorable. It will soon be no worse for the little mishap.
I am so enjoying your decorating venture. I know you are going to love it all when you finish.

I have some shelves in our walkup attic for out of season items and it's like shopping in a store when I want to change out accessories. Fun way to store items-you'll enjoy knowing they are there for another time and in a few years if you haven't used them, then you can haul them off.

Prayers for Bonnie beginning. Is she close to Richmond?
Cheers that your painting is completed! I wish you well in the process of putting everything back in place. I hope one of the first things you find is your Kindle cord. Could it be in your bedroom, put there by you as a safe place in the chaos? Perhaps in a kitchen drawer that would remain undisturbed? In your purse?
Love the fairy garden! Where did you find the charming fairies and their small friends?
Enjoy your day and remember, shrea, shrea!
Hugs!

Susan, this brought tears of laughter. I am printing this and am going to take this to mom tonight when I go back to the hospital. I will write more soon...but just got to the office and need to take care of some things on my plate here. She is stable, doctors are considering a pace maker. We went from last months heart rate of 37 to this month 145!!! Can't get it regulated. The aneurysm on the aortic valve is small and stable. Her only complaint is she is hungry! LOL Thank you to everyone from both my mom and myself for your prayers and well wishes. Wendy (daughter) & Bonnie

That is a wonderful way to plant up a special collection of plants that make it seem like a miniature environment. I was glad to se your photos.

Add my prayers for Bonnie! And please, keep us updated! Your fairy garden is charming! Who knows - maybe it will attract REAL fairies! If I were you, I'd keep an eye tuned for the slightest movement in that lil' garden. Your valance fabric was QUICK to arrive! And it's so pretty! I think I need to look up Alligators - the Black and Decker kinds, I mean. Don't know what they are used for. (Dumb Kai!) Finally, How on EARTH could Curly object to ANYTHING that lil' cutie-pie Cricket does? Bah, humbug!

Your Bonnie has been added to my prayers. I just read your comments to Brenda on her post of her beloved cat missing and I was very touched by your words; especially your thoughts on your husband. I am quite convinced from reading your posts the last few months that your precious Vann was your best friend but you were so kind in your sharing. I can relate to Brenda when she comments on others saying their husbands are their best friends..... I don't have that either, but I pray and work for that every day....but sometimes we just have to accept what we chose and what we have....having faith that we are where we are meant to be for a reason.
