Did you know about these little 1/2 pint sample jars of paint? They're so much fun, but I'm not sure they make deciding on a paint color any easier. There are so many choices. Do you know how many different shades of cream there are? Well me neither, but there are a lot.
And another thing: do you know what a test of willpower it is for someone who is crazy about colors to face that rack of paint cards, hundreds and hundreds of pretty colors--blues and greens and pinks and reds and purples and violets and oranges and yellows--and pick out a neutral? A neutral, for Pete's sake! With all those colors to choose from. It's torture, I tell you.
I can't say I have it narrowed down to anything. One minute I like the peachy cream, then I go for the linen, then I like more of a taupe, and then it's back to the peachy cream again. This might drive me to drink. In fact, it already has. On my latest trip to Lowe's for more paint samples, I stopped at Chick-Fil-A and got a vanilla milkshake.
I got my Lemon Zest petunias that Andy gave me for Mother's Day in their permanent pots today--two large pots. I haven't taken pictures, but at left is an ad photo of some Lemon Zests. And they smell as pretty as they look. Still haven't planted my Knockouts or my zinnias. Maybe tomorrow.
My friend Sally, the super-duper-masterful gardener, is coming over one day next week and help me make a plan for my back yard. I have some plants there already, but it needs lots of work. We've never been able to grow grass there for some reason. Vann and I planted several varieties, including one that was sod. Oh I remember that hot day several years ago when we laid that sod. It was awful. And then the sorry stuff died.
So no more grass for the back yard. Just plants and mulch and maybe some landscaping pebbles, and definitely some garden art. Sally will know what to do. I'm going to take copious notes. I would draw copious sketches too, but I can't draw.

Oh! I've never heard of Lemon Zest petunias! They look and sound divine - and may smell divine, too!
I'm so happy that Sally is coming over to help you decide where to put the plants and other things you want in the yard. Perhaps you should email her a photo of your hill, your side yard, and other parts of your yard and get her suggestions about where to plant the roses. They need 6 hours of sunlight a day but perhaps they'd be okay with very tall high canopy trees giving them light shade. Perhaps Sally would know about this, too?
Is the neutral paint color for your sewing room? What do the Setting Up Your Sewing Room books say about paint? If you have a large design wall perhaps it could be the feature wall with real color since most of it would be covered up? Perhaps a horizontal stripe or vertical stripes of one or more favorite colors here and there? Enjoy choosing!
Hugs!

I can never decide on paint!! You may need to do a soil test - my friend had that problem! Last but not least - I MUST HAVE THOSE PETUNIAS!!

I love the paint samples, too but it's hard to decide! Just go with what you keep coming back to! You can always paint it again later! lol ♥

Lemon zest! oh goodness ... i am in the midst of doing a little paint job ... on a little table. it will be a cream of some kind ... now it sounds like I will have to make my mind up again!! I must get the sanding done first! each day I get a little closer to it! giggle! it's off to bed for me ... a little tired this evening and an early rise tomorrow!
Pink Hugs,

I grinned ALL the way through this except for you being driven to drink ... a vanilla milkshake ... when I stopped grinning long enough to laugh out loud! You are soooo tongue-in-cheek adorable! I love your humor! I ALSO love those petunias! As for wall color? Oh, the possibilities! Don't have ANY suggestions because, like you, I am notoriously in love with color. And having lived in rentals my entire life, I've NEVER had the option of painting the always-white walls ANYTHING else. So I know I would go insane if I could! Finally, you have what I WISH we had! NO GRASS! I am of the opinion that grass is just a nuisance which must be - ugh - MOWED. Give me DIRT, beautiful, grass-free DIRT! Better yet - give me concrete! I can set out LOTS of potted things on concrete. (Aren't you glad Sally is going to assist you instead of opinionated KAI? LOL!)
