Today was the May meeting of Piecemakers Quilting Bee. We met at Cindy W's house and had a great time. She had a table full of good stuff to eat: lemons squares, chocolate cookies, baked french toast, fresh fruit with yogurt dressing, cheese straws, and nuts. I think that's all. That's enough, isn't it.
As usual, there was lots of good show and tell. The photo on the left is Sally's giraffe quilt, which has got to be one of the cutest things I've ever seen, quiltwise. Sally machine quilted it in a bamboo design. Hard to see here, but take my word, it's excellent.
Below are photos of a banner Cindy is making for her church and one block from Cindy's Roly Poly Animals quilt. I have a photo of the entire quilt, but the animals don't show up in it.
And finally for the show and tell pics, here's Mary S. with her gorgeous star sampler quilt. Mary has just had a new quilting machine installed. It's not a long-arm but one of the ones that you use with your sewing machine--and I forget what it's called. This start quilt was her first piece to quilt on the new machine, and it's amazing. I'm so jealous of my friends who can do beautiful machine quilting. I've tried to learn it for years, and I just make a big fat mess every time I try.
I'm very tired this afternoon. After bee, I had a ton of errands to run. I think I'm going to call it quits for the day and do something that doesn't require moving very much for the rest of the evening.
I have plenty more lined up to do this week, including:
1) auditioning paint samples and buying paint.
2) planting the four knockout roses and 18 zinnias I bought yesterday.
3) finishing packing up the sewing room.
4) remove all the pictures, etc., from the walls in preparation for Joe to start painting Monday.
5) decide on a model and purchase a small electric chain saw. I've found that loppers and hand saws are just not for me.
6) Roundup "my garden." The rain last night brought out the weeds that were lurking just under the pine straw.
I'm sure other things will pop up, but when they do, I hope I'm nowhere to be found. Have a great evening everyone.

What gorgeous quilts! Sally's really IS adorable! Love ALL of them, tho'! Glad you had fun, & the food sounded yumm-o! GOODNESS! You have yourself a regular line-up of stuff planned. Just try to NOT OVERDO IT! Do NOT make me jump on a bus and go get after you! I love you, Susan! (You too, lil' Sophie!)

I love the giraffes, they are so cute! I love the real things too, they're magnificent animals.
Do you get Black & Decker tools in the US? If you do and you can get an Alligator, you should consider it rather than a chain saw. They are like oversized loppers but with a chain instead of a blade. They are very safe to use, unlike regular chainsaws. They are electric and will easily cut through branches 4-5" thick, I love mine! I have just looked at Amazon.com and it would appear you can get them on your side of the pond, just search on Alligator loppers. I highly recommend them!

Beautiful quilts, you're lucky to have q quilting circle so close to your house, I wish there was a quilting club close to me.
Do you know where Cindy got the picture of Christ for her banner, or does she have a blog?
Have a great week, you sure do have a lot of plans !!

Oh, the giraffe quilt is adorable! Well done, Sally!
Mary's star quilt is beautiful!
I'm so envious that both Sally and Mary have the talent and patience to machine quilt their quilts. I, too, have tried and tried and failed miserably. Sigh!
Cheers! You found Knock-out roses!! What color(s) did you choose? The two we have and the 3 AMIL has are blooming to beat the band. All were planted 4 days ago.
Be good to you! Hugs!
