I Have Found My Sofa; And This Isn't It

Resize

0900631b816effedW You have to imagine that sofa in this cranberry-and-taupe gingham. I couldn't find a photo showing the gingham sofa, although it is available in both red and green gingham. I ordered the red. It was, by the by, on sale at an amazing price, which makes it even more beautiful to me.

Now compare the gingham with my fabric for the chair and ottoman slipcovers. You might have to click and enlarge.

Fabric With a scattering of sage green, taupe, and cranberry throw pillows and accents, including Vann's ceramics on the mantel, I think I'll have the living room I'm dreaming of. Maybe even a green braided rug something like the one in the photo of the sofa. I have carpet, but you can put rug over carpet, can't you? What do you thinK?

I've had a few hits on my Craigs List ad for the dining room furniture. A couple of people want to purchase the table and chairs separately. And this morning I had an inquiry about buying the china cabinet. Yesterday, and woman e-mailed and then called wanting to come and look at the entire set. She was on her way, but she never showed up. I hope she changed her mind instead of meeting with disaster. I have to get rid of my old sofa and love seat too. I might donate them to charity. Or I might list them. Not sure yet.

I did some brush clearing out back yesterday, clearing out the growth around my oak leaf hydrangeas so they will show up when they start blooming. I hurt my knee in the process, but I don't think it's serious. Just sore.

Andy came this morning and is cutting the grass. I don't know why folks think I can't cut my own grass. But I'll just keep quiet and enjoy the kindnesses and be grateful for them.

Like you folks: What would I do without all of you to listen to my makeover ideas and comment on them and give advice (not to mention your encouragement to keep going when my body tells me to STOP!). I always listen and consider, and many, many times take your advice. Thanks you so much. I love every one of you and hope you all are having a great Sunday.

Your new living room is going to be gorgeous. I must say I'm very impressed with your progress, these decisions are sometimes hard to make. I guess when you know what you want it makes it easier. Everything is falling into place well for you. Have a lovely Sunday.

Oh my goodness I love that sofa. Where did you find it Susan? I'm looking for a new one too. I hate our leather ones.

Oh Susan, I'm so envious....I've lived with my husband for more than 20 years and made a lot of compromises on the way. What I really want is a soft feminine pretty house like you are making for yourself. My husband of course doesn't do soft and pretty - but I'm lucky to have him (he has other good points!). Please enjoy your pretty house for me!!!

That is going to be a GLORIOUSLY GORGEOUS room! The fabrics & colors will complement each other without clashing & will be both feminine AND comfy! Oh! ABSOLUTELY add a rug over the carpet! It not only LOOKS good, it saves the carpet. REALLY! LOVE YOU!

Great choice on a new sofa and its fabric! It looks so comfortable and the gingham will be charming. The Friday fabric will look nice with it since the prints are different in design and scale but have similar colors. Green and cream are good compliments, too.

Vann's pottery is beautiful in line and color. He did well! I've always wanted to try pottery, but have decided I cannot do everything. Besides, my ash tray made at summer camp was abysmal!

Be sure to look out back and appreciate the improvements you made by your work yesterday. No doubt your oak leaf hydrangeas are much happier, too.

Hope someone buys your dining set soon.

Hugs!
