If I Ever Get to Quilt Again...

Chicken_Quilt

THIS IS WHAT I'LL MAKE!

As I was checking out at Jo-Ann's yesterday, this magazine cover caught my eye. To me, that quilt just screams "YELLOW HOUSE KITCHEN!!!" What do you think? Yellow House Kitchen's walls aren't going to be red; they're going to be a color called "Morning Chill," which looks like this...

Paint Kitchen  ...the light blue. The yellow is what my kitchen is now, and I'm tired of it. So we're going with a more country look. In my previous home, many years ago, I had a blue kitchen, and I loved it. So I think red chickens will go nicely in a blue kitchen. See, the little table and stool underneath the quilt are almost the same color as my wall paint. With some red and yellow accents, it'll be the bomb. Again I ask, what do you think?

I have also decided on the paint color for the guest room. The minute I saw it on the wall, I knew this was it. It might be a little hard to show you since it doesn't show up as a whole lot different from the white that's already on that wall. It's an Eddie Bauer color called Seed. If you look just above the bed's headboard on the right and the left, and squint just a little, you might can see it. It's a light greyish-blueish.

If you click and enlarge, you can see the paint color a little better, as well as all the nicks and mars on my old bed. But I have my Howard Restore-a-Finish that I'm promised will make it look almost like new again--as soon as I get time to apply the stuff.

(That crocheted piece lying on the bed, by the way, is a shawl that my niece Jenny made many years ago. I just have it there for the "splotch of red" effect--which I'm not real sure about any more. I might stick with shades of blue and white. I don't know. Maybe a touch of red. We'll see.

Gotta go. Daniel is scheduled to come today to pick up the chair and measure the window. I hope he isn't too disappointed that we have to wait for the valence fabric to be shipped. But I felt it's better to wait and get just what I want that to settle for something I can get now and always wish I had waited. Does that make sense?

Happy Mother's Day to all you mother's out there.

Happy Mother's Day Susan! I just reminded my family over lunch that it was mother's day tomorrow. Do you know what my husband said 'what do I have to do?' He'd a lovely man, but sometimes I wonder if he lives in the real world!!!
I just adore the hens - it looks like it would be a really fun quilt to make too! I wish we could get all these great quilt magazines over here in Europe. Without a subscription it's impossible. I'm sure the hens would cheer you up every morning!
I can't believe how much you seem to be doing right now - you are on a roll! An inspiration for us all!
Best wishes,
Helen

Hi Susan!

The hens and baskets quilt is too cute! Do you have a large kitchen wall where this quilt would hang or would you need to make a smaller version?

I love 'Morning Chill' and 'Seed' and think that each will please you for years to come. The nice thing about the guest room colors is that you can add a pop of yellow for springtime, red for summer, rust for autumn (they're opposite on the color wheel), and some plaid for winter. How do those ideas float your boat?!

Enjoy your day and be good to you!

Hugs!

Love the "Seed" color! Restful and neutral, but not so that it doesn't enhance everything in the room. Similar to the nice bluey-green you see on the coast! Happy Mother's Day to you, too!

I haven't visited many blogs lately but thought I would check in on you and saw Granny first thing. Thank you for honoring her on your sidebar.

Happy Mothers Day Susan. Love your colours. I look forward to a virtual Yellow House tour once your remake is finished. I love the Chicken Quilt . I bought the magazine last week and that quilt went on my to do list.
Hope you're having a peaceful Sunday.
Ruth

Oh, I LOVE that quilt! You are really getting things done lately - makes me tired to contemplate doing all that to my home - and it needs a little spiffing up here and there, but I'm motivated by it all. Love the colors you've chosen for things.

The poor dog probably would have continued barking if it had met him!!!!
