Friday's Blog

Hat Why is it that just at the point where everything is in the biggest mess it can possibly be in, you lose all your ambition and just want to pull your hat down over your eyes and take a nap?

Why, I'm so devoid of inspiration this morning, I can't come up with a better title for this blog post that just, "Friday's Blog." Pitiful.

For one thing, I couldn't sleep last night for thinking of everything that has to be done this weekend--starting today. I'm going to King Cotton today to, Lord willing, find fabric for Daniel to make my valence. The sewing room is almost, but not quite, packed up; and I have to finish it by Monday. I still haven't decided on paint, though I did go back to Lowe's yesterday for more samples. The nice fellow who mixes paint there told me that, pretty soon, I wouldn't need to buy big buckets of paint; I could just mix all my samples together and paint the whole house whatever color comes up. Sounds good to me.

Friday 3
Not it, not it, not it.

And those knockout roses aren't going to plant themselves, are they? They're in big buckets, so maybe they'll be ok for a few more days. If I don't do myself in before I get to them.

Bruise If there's a bigger klutz on earth, I'd like to meet her. I'm all the time stumping toes, bumping heads, knocking something off of something, and just generally reeking havok. I have a huge old armoire in the sewing room that belonged to Vann's grandmother. Its door was open a crack, and I was removing things from the its top. Somehow I fell forward, mashing the skin of the underside of my upper arm between the door and the armoire when the thing slammed shut. This bruise was the immediate and painful result.

But I press on, dreaming of the morning when I awaken to an all together house with clean new wall color, cottage style furniture, and knockout roses thriving around about The Yellow House. (And no bruises to speak of.)

Friday 1 This is absolutely and definitely the color I'm going with for the living room, dining room, foyer, hallway and stairwell--warm cappuccino. Vann would absolutely barf a hair ball if he were here. He'd never go for it. But I figure he's having so much fun in the Heavenlies that he doesn't care if my paint choices tend toward the pink a little. Have a good day, Boo, and don't give the angels too hard a time.

Hi Susan
Time to take a little break I think. Even if its just to stop while you're out and have one of your favourite milkshakes or sit and read for a while. The roses should be fine, if you hadn't bought them they'd still be in their buckets at the garden centre. It makes me tired just thinking of what you've achieved and the decisions you've made recently. I love the colour you've chosen for the living room. I think that Vann would live with your choices in a flash if he had the chance. I hope that in Heaven someone else makes the choices for us.
Hugs Ruth

I agree with Ruth, Susan. Take a breather...and just relax a bit. So sorry you got such a terrible bruise, looks painful.

I like the color you have chosen. I tend to lean toward earthy colors and colors that will be neutral, so that anything will match.

I am sure it will be all worth it, once it is done. It is a lot of work, but we always like to sit back and see what we have accomplished.

Have a great day and a beautiful Mother's Day.

Hi Susan! Count me in with the others who suggest you rest and play for a couple of days after getting the fabric at King Cotton. Hope you find the perfect fabric quickly and that it's on sale, with all you need at a great price!

I imagine your guest room would be so pretty in blue/white or blue/cream or blue/soft yellow so hope you find a hue that says "welcome" to you. Is there any chance other quilts will be on the bed sometimes? If so, the colors in those quilts need to be considered. Enjoy!

Just water the roses every day or every other day and they'll wait for you. When Sally comes to play English gardening with you, the decision may be reached for where they'll be planted. Until you're ready to plant, leave the roses close together for easy watering.

If we have such lovely colors here on Earth, just imagine the amazing variety of additional colors, shades, and hues that must be gracing heaven!

Get well kisses for your bruise.

Hugs!

Hi Susan, yes, it will be WORTH it - I speak from experience. It will be such a great feeling when it all comes together and it WILL. We're out of the worst of our mess - only thing left is to run up some drapes and valances.
Good luck with the shopping and enjoy Sunday - hopefully you will be spoiled.

Ouch! That bruise looks really nasty.
I think your colour choices will be lovely - and I'm sure you will really enjoy it when it's all done. Don't overdo it though. It will all still be there tomorrow! Take care! Love Helen
